Another twisting of Scripture to prove a weak point. Twisting Jesus' words could be seen as blaspheming Him. As we can see through Jesus' experience with Satan in the wilderness, how Satan quotes Scripture out of context.
If a dream has to be interpreted to work out its symbolism, then it is not from the Holy Spirit. All the dreams in the New Testament were clear messages and did not require interpretation. Dream Interpretation is atheistic, New Age, and Freudian.
I agree. "unlocking meaning from dreams, even the crazy ones" is definitely New Age occult, in the same way as "dreaming up" an image of God while praying.
Visualization is a pagan occult practice. Graven images of God includes mental images of what some think God is like; therefore making a mental image of God to worship is idolatry. The Bible says that God is a Spirit and no person has seen Him at any time.
I know of an international ministry preacher who insisted on flying commercial because it gave him opportunity to share the Gospel with passengers who sat beside him. As a result, he had many interesting encounters with a range of different people.
The quote is not about tithing, but about the greatness of Melchizedek. So, to make the verse say it is tithing to Jesus is to twist it right out of its context, and making the verse say what you want it to say. Nice attempt, but no cigar! ;)
We all pay our tithe to the nation. It is called "taxes" and it is a lot more than 10%!! Tax avoidance is robbery and is a criminal offence in most countries. In Israel, tithe avoidance was exactly the same.
To be (rarely) serious about it - I belong to a gym and pay my subscription in fortnightly instalments. Those instalments from members keep the gym in business. I wouldn't oppose a church telling its members if they want to continue fellowshipping there and benefitting from the ministry and...
I once quipped in a church that because I am Presbyterian I have to be careful with my wallet so the moth doesn't fly out. I received a stern lecture about tithing from the pastor, and I felt guilty for a whole 30 seconds!
I know of church leaders who have told members that if they don't come under their "covering" , "authority" and be accountable to them, they are not part of the Body of Christ. These Shepherding Movement type churches believe that those who join their churches become members of the Body of...
There is noting wrong with the shepherding/covering principle as long as it is voluntary and not a requirement for church membership or an active role in the church. Good mentoring is advisory and not authoritarian, and it always respects the direct access that a believer has to Christ...
