I have some serious questions to modern Israel enthusiasts about this.
Which verses in OT prophesy actually are about the first coming of Jesus?
Do you have enough in your understanding of the OT to prove that He is the Messiah?
Also,
What (if anything) does Ezra, Nehemiah,Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Amos, Zechariah or anybody else in the OT ever predict about the second temple restoration of Israel?
“What (if anything) does Ezra, Nehemiah,Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Amos, Zechariah or anybody else in the OT ever predict about the second temple restoration of Israel?”
did you ever notice the end of the prophets ? And beginning of the gospel ?
“For
all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.”
Matthew 11:13 KJV
“Behold,
I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me:
and
the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Malachi 3:1 KJV
“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
As
it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Which shall prepare thy way before thee. ….John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of
repentance for the remission of sins.”
Mark 1:1-2, 4
Or maybe this ?
“
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: and
he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
Malachi 4:5-6 KJV
If we look at what Jesus is saying he interprets thngs
“For
all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And
if ye will receive it, this is Elijah , which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.”
Matthew 11:13-15 KJV
many can’t accept that but other do
“But
I say unto you, That Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. ( they beheaded John )
Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. ( they crucified jesus )
Then
the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.”
Matthew 17:12-13 KJV
It is really sort of simple anyone can see it if we look at the gospel first the law and prophets were all foretelling the coming of the messiah and his kingdom ……it’s just not of this world or this earth
“For,
behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and
the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
Isaiah 65:17 KJV
if you have any specific points regarding Jesus like his birth ? His death and resurrection ? His ministry and powerful signs and wonders ? Him being the law giver ? The mediator or high priest of the new covenant ? Or really any real subject matter in the gospel ….. it can be found in the prophets looking forward to Christ and his generation.
The desolation of isreel for breaking thier covenant is also repeated in the law and prophets along side the promises of Christ and the new covenant to come after
“Incline your ear, and
come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.”
Isaiah 55:3
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:24 KJV
Even if you look at what Moses wrote in the law he foretold of Christ who would come and speak Gods required words. Or the prophets they were always writing about him
“
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall
wait for his law.”
Isaiah 42:1, 4 KJV
“that
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; My beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased:
I will put my spirit upon him, And he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.”
Matthew 12:17-18
“
Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.
so shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.”
Isaiah 52:13, 15 KJV
“
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But
he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:1-2, 4-6 KJV
The prophets all relate to him in someway because he was Israel’s promosed messiah and tbier deliverer along with all who would believe the psalms also are the same
“
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? For dogs have compassed me: The
assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: They pierced my hands and my feet. They part my garments among them, And cast lots upon my vesture.”
Psalm 22:1, 16, 18 KJV
the more of the Bible we begin to grasp the more we realize it’s all about Jesus our Lord
“And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.”
Matthew 27:35
The other story in the Bible is about man’s fall and then Israel’s story under the old covenant law and how they continually rejected God broke his covenant les and worshipped false dieties until his wrath began to reign upon them again and again until he eventually swore desolations upon the earth and promised to make a new and u defiles earth forge inheritance of Abraham’s children of faith in Jesus Christ …..
