“but i want to smoke!!” is how i woke up today

then i started to thank God it was only a dream 💭

no one can even pressure you for such things i guess

@tourist and @Lynx are cool in my opinion
I know, right!? Sometimes I dream that I want to do something, that I'm trying very hard to do it, then I wake up and I'm like "What in the world?!"

On the other hand, that's as close as I ever get to a nightmare. So I guess I'll take it.

All times are unprecedented. That's how time works.

I picked up some old records at the auction house. I've been playing them, recording the audio in computer, then editing them into tracks.

On album they had a little prayer in the middle of a song. Like, they put the song on hold and played the chorus over and over in the background so somebody could recite a scripted prayer for some reason. This prayer cited the uncertainty of these unprecedented times.

That was back in 1974, according to the album cover.

I've had a song in my collection for years, talking about "these are changing times." Apparently times were weird and unprecedented and shifting with alarming rapidity back then too. And in all the years between then and now, I've heard people lamenting how strange the modern world is.

It kind of makes it hard to keep a straight face when people NOW talk about how strange the world has become. It has ALWAYS been strange and changing and different from what we used to know. I mean... That doesn't make the current world not weird, but you'd think we would see the pattern by now.

But that's nothing new. It has always been that way. ;)

Prior to my becoming Christian, i was aware humans seem to have forever hardwired into their minds Lynx. Knowing what i do now makes sense of it for sure.

Yeah, humans are seriously complex and multi-functional by design, however, the fact we usually snuff it before reaching a century old, means we probably have little idea of what our true potential is. As suggested by my avatar, i question the reliability of much of our supposed history.

Personally think that although we do have technology which makes our lives more cosy, we are possibly more insecure and less autonomous than in our earlier history. Could be said that's horses for courses but it does seem that rapidly changing events, are causing massive global insecurity on a scale which was near impossible even a century ago. Added to that, think it's now very difficult, if not impossible, to start autonomous new communities elsewhere.

Know i'm older than you and was born in a time when things seemed to be getting better and better for ordinary folks. However, during the early '80s i began to be suspicious. When Margaret Thatcher sold off council housing and the stock market was allowed to use our bank accts for speculative investments, i knew there was good reason to be.

Something similar to this is in the book of Ecclesiastes.
Ecclesiastes1-9-10s.png

Ecclesiastes 1 v 9-10 What has been will be again, and what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there a case where one can say, "Look, this is new"? It has already existed in the ages before us.

Yeah, that's the one. Thank you for your artistic display. :)

You can respect yourself and still choose to unconditionally love those who hurt you. You can reject their actions, not taking them personally, but rather choosing to be kind and gracious in hopes that they stick around and are encouraged to be their best selves.

It takes much patience to do this, and its not for everyone.

Their actions dont reflect back on you, as they are responsible for their own behavior. Not to say you haven't had an influence of sorts, but thats for you to reflect on and change if necessary.

Also, you cant change anyone. But you can change yourself, your enviorment, and your reactions.

But there is a time to leave at times.

Its worth noting that painful expiriences alone are very valuable at times and its not always most helpful to leave a painful enviorment. There may be valuable lessons in it.

These are some recent thoughts ive had and lessons ive learned through relational problems.

I'm a pretty new Christian and so appreciate that the problems which made me fear for my children's future, are in the hands of the LORD, only he can and will sort the nightmare out.

“You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.” – C. S. Lewis
Lewis flips perspective on identity. The body is temporary, but the soul is essence and eternal self. By recognizing ourselves as spiritual beings first, we live with deeper purpose, transcending the purely physical aspects of existence.

I had a theory that people are largely wired as either optimistic, pessimistic or realistic...
Over the course of my lifetime, I've become caught off guard with a few occasions where family or friends seemingly left to their own devises essentially drowned themselves in their negative thinking...
I assumed that this type of mindset was more likely to occur in the folks who were wired with a pessimistic perspective.
But than I've come to realize that everyone is susceptible to 'depression.'...
Be mindful of the people around you - sometimes they just may need someone to notice them, encourage them, and help them to find help when they find themselves at rock-bottom...

Brownies has 8 letters but cookies only has 7. I'd better choose them both to be sure.

What? I'm choosing a happy life here. :P

The good fight is that against the trappings of despair, which comes once hope is deserted. So, it adds up perfectly that dessert would do well in deterring despair. I mean, that 'astounds' is an anagram of 'as donuts' can't be mere coincidence, especially since the Latin root of astound' is extonare, which means 'to thunder.'
