As we approach Christmas...
It's always a good time to give Praise to our New Born King with all our friends and family who can benefit from growing their Faith in Our Lord...

We keep looking to see if that which we hope is not there is yet still there when
We should be looking to see that it is gone.

Re-writting Hebrews are you?

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I stay up too late
Got nothing on my brain
That's what people say - Taylor Swift.

I had never heard of Taylor Swift until everyone started talking about Taylor Swift like she was some kind of goddess or something. I decided to check out who this Taylor Swift person was. Well to me she looked like a real life version of Phoebe Buffay. I mean she couldn't dance, but she had catchy tunes kind of like Smelly Cat. She also had long blondey hair.

Shes a musician.

Shes a musician.
And apparently a billionaire. Like one of the richest celebs ever.

I mean I knew the music industry could be lucrative, but I always thought the labels or producers/publishers got most of the cut, and the artists were like a slave to the machine. But she has made it on her own by securing the rights to her own music. Impressive.

I have heard it said she identifies as Christian but in the US that could mean anything. I wonder what she does with the money. Its her personal fortune, so she can do what she likes...but I think I would go a bit insane if I had that much.

decades ago, many, engineers, producers & various management along with lawyers & the tax system just about robbed you. at 1 time in the 50's & 60's some artists received 5 to 10% of records sold. madonna is 1 of the artists credited with changing the system., she changed the business & artistic aspects in favor of the artist in instead of the industry. she initiated her own label as well as full control of artist revenue. new standards in other ways she also developed resulting in more income for the independent artist. however, it was peter grant who really got the ball rolling for more income for music artists back in the 60's with led zeppelin. being a former bodyguard & pro wrestler certainly assisted in him getting has way. because Zeppelin was so talented he commanded more record sales income for the band, higher concert ticket prices, & contracted only 10% fee for himself, which at the time, was unheard of. because zep sold out nearly every show, he didn't lose money for himself. he also went totally against the mainstream of managing, advertising, interviews, appearances, you name it. too, zep started their own independent record label, "swan song", propelling other artists to follow suit. Zeppelin refused to put out top 40 material although some tunes made it, they didn't care about that. back in those days you absolutely had to release top 40 material for the long projection of a steady income for all sides of the music industry. so much more, enough for now.

Didn't know that about Led Zeppelin but do know Madonna had her own record label - Maverick.
Alanis Morrissette was one of the artists that had a hit album - Jagged Little Pill. It wasn't her first, but it was ground breaking and VERY popular at the time.
She had the indie vibe going on and co-wrote all her material. Before that singer-songwriters were slaves to the machine and had to conform with whatever was going to be popular/make the most money for the label.

All the songs on Jagged Little Pill stand up today, though some people hated that she had 'angry' songs full of rage. But I find them cathartic.

Well yeah you figure if some one spends maybe $10,000 to produce 1 album, and then $50,000 to mass produce say 500,000 albums/cds
Take the 500,000 divide it by the 60,000 and it costs $8.34 per cd, and then shipping, over head costs, and it might jump to $15.00 a cd Take that and add the retailers cut about 25% = 3.75 Total is $18.75 per cd. So a CD selling at $30.00 minus is $11.25 profit per cd. Now take that 1 Cd multiply it by the sales say 2.5 million sales per country is a $28,125,000 profit per country. Now I am not an expert in the industry so the figures used are purely for example purposes. Now if an artist is paid a royalty on sales it's probably 50% of the Profit, so take the $11.25 divide 50% or by 2 that is $5.62 per album times the 2.5 million sales and that artist is getting $14,050,000

CCM - Christian Contemporary Music, basically copied the music industry model except they charged churches royalties for using their songs.
I don't see or hear they are much different from the rock genre. Same chords, same repetitive chants, same guitar licks, same drums.
if you want to zone out, or mosh, go to church.
