Many people use the term ‘tithe’ for freewill offerings. They simply are not the same thing. Under the Mosaic covenant, tithes were mandatory and payable in farm produce. Freewill offerings could be anything and were exactly that: free, without obligation. Conflating the two only confuses people.

Tithes and firstfruits are different things. Jesus was not a ‘tithe’ in any sense.
