New Age practices in the body of Christ

All I needed to see on the link is the debunked hogwash that cholesterol and saturated fat are "bad". Unless you are specifically allergic, eggs are good for you.

New Age practices in the body of Christ

You make assumptions that are not justified.

    Is personal prophecy scriptural?

Yes, however, this is ultimately subjective. The Mormons use this ‘burning in the bosom’ to confirm what cannot be from God.

    Is personal prophecy scriptural?

That depends on the nature of the message. If it is personal or for a small group, set it aside and let the Lord confirm… or not. If the person claims it is ‘for everyone’ or ‘all believers’ then you can probably ignore it as it is effectively a claim to being additional scripture.

    Is personal prophecy scriptural?

Hello and welcome to CC. :) There are scriptural references to prophecies that were not recorded in Scripture. Therefore, God clearly does not intend every prophecy ever spoken to be considered "Scripture". Agabus was known to be a prophet before he prophesied of the coming famine in Judea in...

Christ kept the Law of Moses, so....

No, definitely not! Christ fulfilled the law. He did not need to abolish it because it was fulfilled. However, in terms of Christian practice, the effect is the same: we are not under the law. The analogy of the mortgage is relevant here: when your house mortgage is fully paid (fulfilled), you...

New Age practices in the body of Christ

It seems to me that many people don't understand the distinction between practices that have "new age" roots and those that are simply inappropriate for a Christian gathering for worship.

Christ kept the Law of Moses, so....

Simple: attempting to be right with God means either trusting in Christ or following the law perfectly and completely. Since the latter is impossible, the only rational choice is trusting in Christ. That is consistent with the law being both "fulfilled" and "abolished".

Christ kept the Law of Moses, so....

No; the law is a unit. There aren't components as you imply. We see this in Galatians 3:10 and James 2:10: Galatians 3:10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”...

tithing a way out of poverty

That's a great testimony, but again, it has nothing to do with tithing. :)

New Age practices in the body of Christ

Consistency with the word of God is the primary one. That's referenced in the old testament as a test for 'prophets' in Isaiah 8:20: 19 When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of...

tithing a way out of poverty

Many people use the term ‘tithe’ for freewill offerings. They simply are not the same thing. Under the Mosaic covenant, tithes were mandatory and payable in farm produce. Freewill offerings could be anything and were exactly that: free, without obligation. Conflating the two only confuses people.

tithing a way out of poverty

Tithes and firstfruits are different things. Jesus was not a ‘tithe’ in any sense.

tithing a way out of poverty

The story of Ananias and Sapphira has nothing whatsoever to do with tithing. Your accusatory rhetoric is highly inappropriate.

tithing a way out of poverty

By this logic, if you give 10% instead of 100%, you are ‘crippling the expansion of God’s kingdom on earth’. In other words, your argument doesn’t hold water. God doesn’t ask Christians to give 10% though. Rather, He leads each of us by His Spirit, not by misapplied old-covenant directives.

New Age practices in the body of Christ

There is no "fine" yoga; it is a worship practice of a non-Christian belief system. Stretching is legitimate, but yoga, even under a different name, is not. As for "liturgical dance", it sounds like a fancy name for Christianized exercise classes (nothing inherently wrong in that). Dancing in...
