The fountains of the deep broke open. In other words in my understanding, the earth was cracked open and water gushed out, I would say possibly as high as the upper atmosphere? The scars from this event can be seen in geology today.

I can't imagine how devastating that earthquake would be if it's bigger than the one which caused the catastrophe of The Flood!
