Are you a christian? Would it not trouble you to know that your wife did not know Christ and would be lost if something happened to her? Do you plan to have children? What would you teach them?
I don't think 'knowing Jesus' means 'calling yourself 'christian''. A person's actions speak much, much louder than their professions.

I would suggest that compassionate, loving people who dislike religion and all the pomp and occasion, war and argument that comes with it, actually hold the real 'walk' of Jesus more to their chests than 'westboro baptists church', who are all 'christians', or many 'christians' that I know.

So I would have absolutely no issue in marrying any woman if I see that she genuinely has a heart that cares for people and is willing to act selflessly.

'There is no greater love than this; that someone may lay down their lives for another'.

To me, self-sacrifice for others' sakes is the single biggest determining factor in how well a person 'know's Jesus'.

And I'd teach my children the same.

Compassion would be our mutual ground. And that is most definitely a relationship with God at it's heart, whatever name he may come with.

If, as a christian, I found that I had more in common with unbelievers than believers, regardless of gender, it would be a red flag to me.

This bothers me. As a concept.

As a whole. Unbelievers vs Christians, no, I have more in common with Christians.

But If its people who Volunteer vs. Christians, its a little bit grayer but, still mostly Christians.

The only real difference is that Christians love people and want to see Jesus clothed and fed, wherever they go. Unbelievers love Animals and Nature, seeing Man as the problem.

If people keep focusing on the Culture of Worship Music and Prosperity Gospel, I don't think I'm going to fit in anymore. Instead of going to find our neighbors we hang a sign that says come join us. The Church doesn't need to change to react to anything, it was designed to be proactive, to love before counting what it is going to cost.

When needs go unmet and an Atheist Charity steps up to the plate, we only have ourselves to blame. But a Christian should be the only one who will give all to see that Jesus does not go hungry or naked.

May I say that I am not attacking you or anything for your position. Please hear my heart. I'm sincerely asking that you think about these things. As I widow, I would have had tremendous difficulty going on with my life if I had not known that my husband had gone to be with the Lord and was not on his way to hell...or just rotting in the grave as if his life had never mattered. When you plan to share a lifetime with someone these are things that matter.

I don't understand a prosperity message, unless by prosperity you mean things that are not of this world. (Please note that I am not condemning people of means if materialistic things are not their god and they are using their blessings for His glory.) The Jesus I know gave up everything and came down here to sleep in the dirt. Who am I to deserve better?

Not sure what you mean by the "culture of worship music". For me, music is simply a vehicle of expressing my love and adoration, and of defining/expressing the deeper things of God. However, I have seen groups who were more concerned about what music was playing and whether they liked it or not than opening their hearts in worship to the King.

To gather in holy huddles is contrary to the command Jesus gave:

[SUP]8 [/SUP]Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,[SUP]20 [/SUP]and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28

We are not to forsake gathering together, but, for me, the purpose in that is to recharge/refresh in order to get back out there and do what I can for the Kingdom of God.

I do, with all genuine love and sincerity, pray that you do indeed know Christ and that anyone you marry does as well, along with any children you may have. :)

The prosperity message, or gospel, is one where preachers teach that if you are following God, you will not have any problems, and that you will be wealthy. They tend to leave out the sin nature of man, and how we need Christ as our Savior.

I don't believe you are attacking me, not at all. Quite the contrary, your motive is to ask me to think about these things for comfort. Which is respectable.

But respectably, yours and my views of what 'hell' is probably differ tremendously.

The word is 'gehinnom', and it isn't really what people think. I learnt from where the whole thing came from and what the Jews actually believed (and many still do) from some people, Jews amongst them. It surprised me greatly.

I'm convicted that nomatter what 'religion' this woman may possess (if indeed there is to be a woman, only time will tell) doesn't matter in the way that I previously thought it did.

But thank you very much for your concern :)

I could never collect Precious Moments figurines or collector's plates. I need the space for my katanas and gun racks ;)

If I ever meet you in person, I want to bring you a big ol' box of the things... so we can drive out to a cozy little spot I know, all seculded and with plenty of shade... set em up along the earthen burm... and, well, you get the picture.

YEEE HAW! Pass me a few more rounds!

With everything said, I must admit that I haven't dated someone who didn't profess to being a Christian since... 2008.

I don't have any intention of changing that.

I like this and at the same time I think " was this a red flag for Jesus?" then I think of Hosea ..
the level of thinking Jesus had with all of us who did not believe .. What was he thinking instead of this .. What was hosea seeing instead of being hooked up with an unbeliever also.

I have not yet come to fully understand Hosea's situation (I should read it again; will do that today. Thanks for the reminder! :) ), but I do know that the Bride of Christ will not be made up of unbelievers.

Eh its just around here is a rather small town when you take away the college kids, and most the christians here are rather hardcore...like absolutely no drinking, no dancing, no secular music types and I just never fit in with that particular crowd of christians. I dont see anything wrong with my country usic or having a COUPLE beers after a hard day of work. So we really just dont see eye to eye hence having more in common at least locally with the average joes.
