We are currently living in a motel in a small city Tennessee waiting for the closing of our new home, hopefully in a week or so. We left Clearwater, Florida over a month ago having sold our townhome.
Well, the dirty laundry reached a breaking point so we made a short trek to our local laundry mat. The name of the place was Maytag Equipment Coin Laundry. Thankfully, there was an abundance of machines with only a young couple there with a 3 or 4 year old little boy. He keep coming over to me to show me his stuff. He tried to sneak outside when his parents weren't looking and I told him to stay inside. He said OK. Nice little lad.
It seems as if the wife / girlfriend / sister/ significant other did all of the work while her husband / boyfriend / brother / significant other played on his smart phone. She had a massive amount of laundry to do, I mean piles and piles. Probably a month's worth.
When inserting the quarters in one of the washing machines one of them got stuck in the slot. I was able to extract it with my finger nails. When everything was washed I stuck it all in a massive dryer along with a couple of Bounce dryer sheets. Three minutes for each quarter. Put it on high heat and inserted 48 minutes worth of quarters. At about the 3 minute to go mark my wife suggested that I pause the cycle to see if the clothes were dry and if not put in some more quarters. The clothes were dry but I wanted to get my last quarter's worth and get the last 3 minutes. The thing is, the machine would not restart. It didn't matter though. After my wife folded the clothes I noticed that a single quarter was returned in the coin return slot so the dryer and I were now square.
It seems that after the clothes were folded she noticed that there were a pair of panties and 3 toddler socks, neither of which matched that were not ours. I guess they were left behind from the previous person that used that dryer. We left them on top of the nearest washer.
When we left that poor young woman still had a mountain of clothes to fold, kid running around and this guy is still on his phone. Hopefully, he wasn't looking at porn but I can't vouch for that.
We will probably have to go back a couple more times until our new houses closes and we can get a new washer and dryer. We did learn however to not go to this laundry mat on week-ends as it is packed.
Open 24 hours.
