There is an element of truth to what you have said. I have found that during my military service there was no black or white but rather just one cohesive fighting force. The US is a divided country in many respects.

Yes, same here, they are called excise taxes. An example of excessive regulation in the auto industry is forcing auto makers to produce cars with unrealistic emission standards which drive up the costs and also forcing the companies to produce electric cars that few want or could afford.

What blows me away with GM is the claim that the TARP fund - the famous government bail out for GM - was paid back in full thanks to brisk car sales and the Obama admin saving the day. In fact, GM used funds from the previous TARP taxpayer funds to pay the loan back and paid the left overs by raiding the GM union health care insurance that they didn't need to pay back till 2017 and never did. Then they bankrupted more than 1100 dealership nationwide and oddly, none of the mechanics, salesmen, and administrative staff and owners were even counted in the number of unemployed nationwide at the time. Couple this with all taxpayer TARP money paid back in full by who? TAXPAYERS! What a great deal for GM. And the kicker is that now President Biden STILL takes credit for "SAVING GENERAL MOTORS." And people buy it!

By now, all this can be "clearly disclosed" by treasury but the massive amount of SEC filings and government reports one would have to pour through to find truth would be impossible and anything but clear. In other words, taxpaying Americans paid 49 billion in cars they never drove and reelected Obama and Biden for it. .

We will move into our new home on Tuesday and this is our first White Christmas together with it snowing outside and looking beautiful. So very happy that the end of this move is in sight.

I will keep looking for that Gatlinburg home as I do want to live in the mountains, but I am happy with our current home as it gives us a toe hold into Tennessee while we continue to search for our mountain home.

That is a good choice too. Our Nissan Rogue gets about 25 MPG in the city and 30 MPH on the highway. Gasoline is currently cheap and plentiful in the USA. Filled up the tank a couple days @ 1.86 per gallon USD. I wouldn't buy a Ford either.

I turned down an outing today as it was sunny and I was going to do a lot of washing and hang it out on the line. Then read a good book while it dries.
Id rather stay home and do that than go out. lol

Now its dried I have nice clean clothes to wear for when I DO go out.

Hope all is going well for you as you settle in.

Thank you, yes we are still in the process of setting up a new household. Our new fridge was installed this morning and also our internet service. There are still a few boxes in the utility room where the new washer and dryer will be installed. Looks like about another week to get the room empty before ordering a washer / dryer. Still don't have TV cable hooked up yet but I really don't watch much TV. Looks like it will take another month to get every thing in it's place. We bought an outdoor shed to temporary store items that we don't presently have space or a need for. Estimate 2 weeks before shed can be set up. Moving has been quite an adventure so far.

The big question I want to know is do you enjoy laundry the same or more than 7 years ago?

When always enjoyed going to the laundry mat but it will be nice to to do laundry in our new home. Basically, I am still a novice in properly doing the laundry.

Now its dried I have nice clean clothes to wear for when I DO go out.

In the spring we will string up an outdoor clothes line. Clothes smell fresh and crisp when dried outdoors on a sunny and slightly breezy day.

I found out my brothers have two washing machines in their house. They are twins.
One is a Miele and the other is Haier. They are pretty fancy.

its annoying when you renting and there is no washing machine, that means one brother, who moves places every year for work, has to take a washing machine plus a fridge and tables and chairs each time. Why arent they just included with the house like a stove is?

Its not as if they are that much different from each other.

They don't its just one brother moves around for work and then needs his own at whatever flat he's staying at, since most flats are unfurnished. Here, they only ever seem to come with stoves.

If he buys one he can't leave it at the rental so he has to put it somewhere. He had a fridge too but he sold it.
