For some reason laundry is an activity that I enjoy. Now, I still consider myself a novice even though I have been doing it on my own for several years. My most pressing concern is how to separate the ‘whites’ from the other stuff. Does it actually have to be white to be considered a white? These get bleach, right? After many years I find myself single once again so now may be the time to pay serious attention to this.

Now, I could jam it all in one washer and save a few quarters or do the right thing and make two separate loads. OK, this will be a two load occasion as I am trying to mend my ways. I also appreciate clean clothes. Yeah, I know what you are thinking, that shirt should have been pre-treated with Shout but who’s got time for that? An extra scoop of Oxi-Clean should take care of that little problem. Well, got two washers filled up and now its time to add some detergent. I prefer the liquid over the powder because the last time I used power the box tipped over and spilled all over the place.

Come on! Now a quarter is jammed. I don’t smash my hand against the coin thing anymore. I am older and wiser. I now use a little ball-peen hammer. A couple little taps usually does the trick. Oh, I forgot to separate the whites again. I will just use an extra capful of liquid Tide. What does HD mean anyway? Maybe the lady with the pretty hair a couple washers down knows. Oh, she is coming my way now. Perhaps she will be able to assist me in my troubles. I really hope so.

Things were fine until her boyfriend Bruno came over. He didn’t look too happy but maybe my little hammer in the laundry basket was a bit disconcerting to him. I am sorry too that he slipped on the puddle of liquid Tide I spilled on the floor and cracked his head against a dryer. He must feel a little helpless too. I recommended to him that he should treat the blood stains on his shirt with Shout before washing it. He gave me the finger. It turns out that Bruno was not her boyfriend but her brother. She smiled at me sweetly. I feel that it is all coming together. I am not sure what to do about the mountains of suds oozing out of the washers. Maybe it will bubble us clean? She just called me "Mr. Bubbles". I like that.

When I was WAY younger and first on my own, I washed my favorite red jeans, that I lived in...
(they had been washed a gazillion times) with a bunch of light clothes...

I was on a budget and shoved all my clothes into one load... I thought it would be ok, As I didn't use bleach.... So wrong, f
or the next two year I wore Pink.. Pink socks, Pink shirts, Pink T's... you get the picture, everything was PINK!!
I was the PINK GAL!!!

To this day, I own no white socks, tee's ect. not even my towel, nothing I own to wear or wash is white.
Everything is a dark colour... So there is no need to separate my clothes.. Just how many loads I need to do...
Guess I'm scared for life.....

I try to limit my whites also as they are such a nuisance. There seems to be a lot of lonely single people in laundry mats. Most guys are helpless. Your story is extremely amusing. Pink is a pretty color but maybe not for all of your clothes. I put bleach in with my color shirts once and it turned them all into a splotchy rainbow pattern. I received a lot of compliments when I wore the them so it was not all bad. I looked like I was a hippy or something..

You're always so good at sharing these kind of stories. :). Loved it. I do recommend that Bruno go get his head checked out though. He might need stitches.

Sorry to break it to ya... But it depends how bad the flesh wound is... :/
Well, there was a certain loss of blood. Next time I will call 911 :) Better yet, maybe I should be more careful. Now, I am one to talk as I used duct tape when cutting off the tip of my left index finger to keep it in place so maybe I should allow the health care professionals to deal with these types of situations.

Well, yet another visit to the laundry mat. Time to stake out my territory. The washer by the lounge looks promising as that seems to be the place where the fun people hang. Am I really looking for a fun person though? Or just someone to put a smile on my face? Before I start my laundry I will grab a coffee and have a seat. There is no hurry. I will stick this 'Out of Order' sign on the washer I want to use to reserve it. I wonder what the main topic of discussion is today? Maybe it is shopping. I will offer my insight on the produce department. I think that I will thump some honeydews today.

Sas, all my clothes too are colored--no white clothes for me!! The only white things are my socks and even those are discolored from my black croc sandals. LOL. :) Guess I need to get some colored socks!! :p

I work at a laundromat one or two nights a week. I will put whites with light colored clothes. Also like Clorox 2 a lot more than Oxy Clean. You can use Clorox 2 in most temperatures. Oxy Clean works best in hot water. I've had to wash some really stinky clothes, I found that Lysol Lemon cleaner helps get the stank out.

I like Tide but I break out if I use it. I use ERA works great and no one breaks out.

Are there any single woman in the laundry mat where you work? My late wife was allergic to Tide but now that it is just me I go with what works best. I will try the ERA. I believe that the Lysol Lemon cleaner idea has merit also and I will consider switching to Clorox 2. I guess that I am just a struggling single guy again and could use all of the help that I can get :) Excuse me, I need to get some quarters from the change machine.

There are some single women that come in and some single men. There are a few that are regulars that I enjoy talking to.

I do like ERA, anything with Enzymes in the ingredients work well. ERA is made by the same company that makes Tide. It just isn't as harsh. I don't like the non smelling soaps, just because I like a little scent. I do use the no scent on my kids clothes though, my daughter has eczema so I'm really careful with her soaps, shampoo etc.

I wish you lived closer I'd tell you to come in and I'd help you. I help people all the time. I don't mind, it's pretty boring so it gives me something to do. Plus I kind of like folding clothes.

I do not know how to fold clothes properly but I am never to old to learn. I plan on learning how to iron also. I am going to get some Niagara spray starch and put crisp creases on my jeans and my shirts. I will be careful not to burn anything. I wish that I lived closer to you too because you are a very nice person and would make a good friend. I interact with people on this site but perhaps will never actually meet any of them. To me, that's sad. Believe it or not, I will seriously consider your laundry advice. Thank You.

Saturday morning is always a good day for an adventure in the laundry mat. It is best to arrive early to get the best spot. I will wear some clean clothes to give a good impression but leave the shirt tail out a little as that makes me look hapless. Is that a word? Perhaps helpless is a more descriptive term. Here comes a good looking pretty woman in red now. She probably uses ERA liquid laundry detergent for such a bright color. Her jeans look crisp too. She probably uses Niagara spray starch. I will make an inquiry now. Perhaps she can tell me if I am taking the wrong approach on this laundry game of mine.

Just finishing my last load and it seems like I have been here all day. It has been kinda lonely and quiet tonight. I really need to start getting here earlier. I overslept this morning and my whole day has been outa whack. Here comes a pretty woman now. Perhaps she can help me fold my clothes. It has not been a bad day after all.

Thankfully I can do that here at home...never had much luck in a laundry.
When I was in Trade School, I lost my new favorite sweater (Christmas present) the first time I took it to wash. It was one that couldn't go in the dryer, so I laid it out on the table by my baskets. Went to the soda machine, came back and the sweater was gone. Wasn't surprised, really. Just very aggravating.

Did you use Woolite for the sweater? Last time I used the soda machine it ripped me off. Felt like taking my little hammer to it. This account of yours was very amusing. I think that I saw the lady who swiped your sweater. I let her slide because she smiled at me.

There seems to be a lot of dirty laundry in my life these days that needs to be washed. I will be using the extra rinse cycle option in this process. For myself, I will walk through a drive-through car wash. I will probably find it to be a most refreshing experience.

I am not coming here anymore. I plan on doing my laundry at home. I have found someone who will teach me to separate the whites and the finer points on how to iron a shirt properly without leaving scorch marks on it.
