All I am saying is "the fruit of the Spirit" does not comely solely from suffering.... scripture makes it clear victory over sin and living out our new identity comes by His Grace, walking in the Spirit and recognizing we are new creations in Him.
I think the point of the Scripture is to be always ready for persecution, and not be surprised if it comes. Obviously not all Christians are murdered for their faith. And trials of a Christian in established Christian countries are less than say, in India or Middle East. But there is almost invariably high opposition to the point of murdering Christians whenever the good news of Jesus Christ is getting established in an area and it being taken from demonic principalities. In essence, we are to be ready if and when persecution comes and accept it with joy, but all this focusing on persecution and suffering seems a bit morbid.
