The question is, how does sanctification and salvation work? You say they are 2 different things, but why sanctification or justification if one is automatically saved in the KOG the second they believe in Jesus. There does not seem to be a reason for sanctification and justification?
And which one comes first, sanctification or Justification?
Evening benhur (btw, benhur is one of my favourite films)
Maybe the following may help
1 Corinthians 6:11
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
6:11 In this verse, Paul uses three terms to describe the conversion of the Corinthians. The tense of all three verbs indicates an action in the past that is complete. Washed means spiritually cleansed by God. Sanctified means set apart as God’s people. Justified means declared righteous by God because of Christ’s work on the Cross. (NKJV study notes)
To me we have been sanctified and justified when we placed genuine faith in Jesus. Not just lip service.
I then we sanctification as the process of growing in Jesus and becoming more like him.
Romans 8:29-30
29 For whom He foreknew,
He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Being justified means being “declared righteous.” Finally, God glorified. Though glorification is in the future, it is stated here in the past tense. Everyone then, who was foreknown by God in eternity past has such a certain future that the apostle speaks of their glorification as already accomplished. (NJKV study notes).
Think about it.
Can you justify or sanctify yourself before God?
Can you be justified and sanctified by your works?
If so then there was no need for Jesus to die.
So sanctification is as a result of being sanctified.
So that is the be set apart to do good works and be obedient.
You said in a previous post
"We do our best to do what God has asked of us, and we rely on his mercy and grace to make up any shortfall that may occur in our walk with him"
How does he do this?
Yet in another post you say justification is second to sanctification.
You say "If you are justified, you are holy, what if you do unholy things. A lot of unholy things, can you lose your justification?
You indicated that you can.
To be honest as we say over here "That's arse about face" (not being rude or going at you)
So in fact God cannot make up the shortfall. You have to do it
Justification is not being Holy or being righteous.
Its a legal status in Jesus.

Justified
[FONT="]We are justified, declared righteous, at the moment of our salvation. Justification does not make us righteous, but rather pronounces us righteous. Our righteousness comes from placing our faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. His sacrifice covers our sin, allowing God to see us as perfect and unblemished. Because as believers we are in Christ, God sees Christ's own righteousness when He looks at us. This meets God's demands for perfection; thus, He declares us righteous—He justifies us. (GOTW)
