For the Jews under law dispensation, an animal can be very costly, in terms of costs. Imagine every time u sin, u have to bring a new animal.

And as David realized after his adultery, even such blood sacrifices pale in comparison with Jesus act on the cross, because they could not result in no imputation of sin. He envied us on the grace dispensation because of this, as romans 4 indicated.

So my answer is no, there is a lot of difference between that Christ did for us, and what animal sacrifices could do.
But that is what the OT people had. They had animal sacrifice.

They wouldn't just NOT do it because it wasn't as good as Christ.

They had to have faith in the Blood of their Sacrifice the same as we have faith in the Blood of the Lamb.

If we didn't have Christ would we NOT sacrifice animals and place their blood upon the altar to atone for our sins?

I am a big proponent of Salvation by Grace through Faith and NOT of works but I would be sacrificing animals all over the place if it weren't for Christ.

You are missing my point. I am saying we are very blessed today. King David envied us too.

We can now cease works to get justified because of Christ. People under the law cannot cease from works like us.

If you agree with that, we are on the same page.

Some of you still believe in works for justification now, and you will quote scripture from the 4 Gospels to support that belief I guess?

i believe in the example of Jesus, that example was works, He did works everywhere where He went. He didnt come down here to show us how NOT to do it.

the idea of teaching against works has got to be the dumbest idea ever, works are good, works are feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, heeling the sick, this is exactly what Jesus did and yet the faith has reached such a low point there are actually those that teach against that example. its like waking up in the twilight zone.

No one is teaching against works. I am talking about works for justification. U understand the difference?

Excuse me for butting in! I think we all are saying no amount of works can secure salvation! That takes believing in John 3:16 and Jesus having fulfilled the Fathers will while He was on earth! As a matter of fact I fail to see the relevance in continuing to hash and rehash the same scriptures,it proves unproductive! We are commanded to " love one another and the household of faith"!

We are discussing whether works was necessary for salvation during the Old Testament.

I know I have been reading the post. IMO before the law they passed the love of God and worshipping of Him by family traditions and word of mouth! Then they had the prophets to tell them how to walk. They had no salvation such as we have but it was all done according to the law and the prophets and the judges! Jesus said that He came to fulfill that law and make a new covenant between the ppl and God! If ANYTHING I WOULD SAY THEY HAD MORE WORKS THAN WE BECAUSE OF THE LAW AND ALL THE ADMENDENTS CONTINUELLY ADDED ON! We follow Jesus in doing the Fathers will as He did by example! He said ALL hinged on two points" loved the Lord your God only and serve Him ,and love your neighbor as yourself! He also gave an example to whom this is in the parable of the " Good Samaritan"! As Forest Gump said " That's all I have to say about that"! Peace brothers and sisters 🌐🌐🌐

Speaking for myself I came to believe in God when I was about 12 years of age and gave my life over to Him. (salvation) It was only later I grew to love him. I still struggle to love my immediate neighbour who is a violent man and who has asulted various people including his sister, his first wife and myself numerous times. However, if I saw him in serious trouble, I would help him, as would any decent person, so I suppose overcoming personal feelings is an expression of Christian love?

Thanks brother, I have the same problem. Hard for me to love my neighbor that always steal my tool, some people tell me but he always deny, finally I put camera and I have evident he did it.

I believe faith in Jesus must love Jesus and love Jesus must love neighbor

Seem to me faith without love Jesus is not acceptable.

We can not have a faith in Jesus but hate Jesus

And we can not love Jesus but hate our neighbor

It is not easy, need surrender all, I steal learn.

We all learn. When we are born again and become a child of Christ, we are like new babes. First we feed on the milk and then the strong meat. Our walk with Christ is a continual learning curve as we become more like him. I thank God I am more content and at peace than I have ever been as I trust in Him.

No we cannot and therefore we follow Jesus' example and His commands. We have the inspired word of God written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to teach us how to build up the kingdom by adding would into it daily such as should be saved! This we do in sharing His love and His word! It is not His will that ANY SHOULD PERISH BUT THAT ALL SHOULD BE SAVED. We however can DO nothing to earn our salvation, but we put on His righteousness! Then we follow His commands to love God and our neighbor and fulfill the "Great Commission" which in essence is working to carry on the work He started. It is His legacy,we are His offspring! SHALL WE NOT BE ABOUT THE FATHERS BUSINESS ALSO! Peace and love fellow travellers! 🌐🌐🌐

Pray for your neighbor’s salvation and peace of mind. In your heart of hearts truly want what’s best for him, and yet be that as it may, there’s nothing wrong with a little tough love and putting him in his place. But that’s just me. I pray you are always safe and at peace.

Please show a post where someone here preaches against doing good works.

You are purposefully muddying the waters because of an agenda. We absolutely should be doing good works. But a large contingent, myself included, say that those works have ZERO to do with our Salvation. That is a gift we received from our Lord.Ya know, GOD IN THE FLESH!
You don not believe Jesus is God. I personally do not believe, outside of confused baby Christians, that a person is a saved Child Of God if they do not believe He died for them

It also taints and skews everything else you say.

He used to be a Jehovah Witness, but then he was disfellowshipped. He is an atheist. I will take your good advise and pray for him. :)
