I have used scripture you are eliciting for self-interpretation. You are not taking the full context of the Holy Spirit and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. You stated that women would not be used in the church setting in the gifts of the Holy Spirit because they are to be silent.

Then you try to lecture us on proper exegesis. LOL You can’t have it both ways either the Holy and His gifts are given to men and women or they are not. You do not see the context with the text or passages of scriptures that speak to the unity of the Holy Spirit with men and women. You see it as controlling that is why you are Pharisees. It has been my experience those who teach the half-baked cake Gospel and 1corinthians about the role of women and are wrong have 1. Not being married 2. Have been divorced 3. No freedom of the Holy Spirit for all people in the service. dead, dead, dead,. Those like you take correction from the word of God and use it to control people like a cultish founder would do.

What God hates in our churches:

R -- ritual
E -- earnestness for superficiality
L -- legalistic
I -- ignorant of a lot of what is God-pleasing
G -- going on with un-Biblical tradition
I -- “I” problem especially in pride and selfishness
O -- obnoxious
N -- nasty, hypocritical, and condemnatory like the Pharisees of old

It is not just a few. In the past I have checked the Statements of Faith in all of the churches I attended.
I wonder if you use terminology differently and associate 'baptism of the Holy Ghost' with salvation rather than subsequent empowerment as most Pentecostals do.

I knew it; you can't explain nothing.

The closest you came was somehow claiming that Paul and therefore the Holy spirit contradicted, but you haven't explained how.

My thoughts are very simple- based on Paul's teaching of our conduct in church, women in the 1st century never spoke in tongues in the church. Today women being the majority in the churches, are speaking in tongues. Therefore my conclusion based on this fact and many others, is that the tongues today are fake.

And i supported my thoughts by quoting:

1 Cor 14:
34 Women f should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. g

36Or did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37If anyone thinks they are a prophet or otherwise gifted by the Spirit, let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command. 38But if anyone ignores this, they will themselves be ignored.

1 Cor 14 is about use of tongues in the church and there's no way Paul would throw that directive at women when it meant nothing. He even says it is the Lords command.

And:

1 Tim 2:
8Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

11A woman a should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; b she must be quiet. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women c will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

If you are going to argue why you think Paul did not mean what i think he said, you must give an interpretation of the 2 passages, but you quoting something else doesn't explain nothing, it's like saying, let's leave the two passages and dwell on 1 Cor 11. You've also said you'll use the law to explain - i'm still waiting.
you are also trying Joel's prophesy about God pouring His spirit on all flesh so that both men and women prophesy but that doesn't cancel Paul's teaching on our conduct in churches. You simply have to address the two passages.

You are hereby dismissed as having failed to address the passages and therefore did not refute my conclusion, but if you think you can, try.

I don't know if Kavik is still reading.

I came across this website which tells of the moderately cessationist German theologian Kurt E. Koch who visited a revival on the island of Timor and witnessed a woman who only knew a tribal dialect who did not even know Indonesian singing a song in tongues in English, and a number of miracles. There was a revival there that started in the late 1960's.

I once spoke with a Timorese man who had interviewed older folks who had witnessed the revival.
You can search the Romans 1015 site.

hahaha being dismissed by you is not hardship nor a concern frankly, you would not agree even with biblical proof. Dream on . I consider you no authority here or one to even have a biblical discussion with. You are incapable, powerless, and self-indulged. I have explained from the word of God that 1. the Holy Spirit uses women in the gifts of the Holy Spirit in a church setting. Your understanding women are to be silent at all times in Church some kind of legelistic control freak. You do not see the unity nor the liberty that comes when the Holy Spirit is in and upon men and women. You speak of only leglistic letter of the law and no liberty

Not sure how you are connecting tongues to a woman being silent in church . Where woman as part of the new order allowed to prophesy in church by declaring the gospel?

What was the conduct about seeing the time of reformation brought the opposite sexes as both being a part of the ceremonies. This seeing prior to the reformation there was no mingling? What time period was the new testament government restored to? Where there female prophets then like Deborah for instance?

Noose, those scriptures you quote are not evidence that women cannot, generally, receive the gift of prophecy. Acts 2 already prophesied that sons and daughters would prophesy.

Paul mentioned women prophesying in I Corinthians 11, so either I Corinthians 14 is addressing a narrower case-- a certain type of speaking, etc., or women could prophesy in some other venue besides the assembly. Holding to the position that women do not receive the gift of prophecy and cannot prophesy is not a reasonable position. 'Preach' is usually used in context outside of the church meeting in scripture also.

That's interesting? You say you only use Biblical terminology. How would that apply to someone making a noise without meaning ? How could you seek after the understanding of God if you must look for a blessing with those who look for a outward sign before they will believe God?

The warning below. we walk by faith (the unseen eternal)

And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.1 John2:25-26

In one sense it would seem to be the kind of warning associated with the antichrists (verse 18) that insist we do need the things seen (men) to teach of the unseen things of faith. Again the unbelieving, no faith Jews who refused to hear prophecy turned things up side after the oral traditions of men . for the god of this world to provide the faith that comes from hearing men seen It is not the new faith we freely receive when we believe God. Without his faith we cannot hear what the Spirit says to the churches (denominations)

Isaiah 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

Providing a faith that comes from hearing men. It is not the new faith we receive when we believe God. Without his faith we cannot hear what the Spirit says to the churches (denominations)

No sign gifts

John 4:48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

John 6:30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

How could you seek after the understanding of God if you must look for a blessing with those who look for a outward sign before they will believe God? ***You just don't understand. God is supernatural (above the natural) and the gifts He gives are supernatural, even the spiritual gifts of teaching, generosity, mercy, knowledge and wisdom. The last 2 are thinking and saying facts that the Holy Spirit urges that one has never thought of). That happened to me a number of times when I was facilitating home Bible study groups.

The warning below. we walk by faith (the unseen eternal) ***The Spiritual gifts have been are part of my walking or livng by faith. You have missed out in having exciting spiritual happenings in your life. I have been amazed about some of the happenings in home prayer meetings involving the last 2 spiritual gifts mentioned in my first response.

And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.1 John2:25-26 ***I have lived that most of my life since I was born again on May 25, 1967. You have made it evident by your postings that you have not. But again you take verses out of the context of the New Testament. God has called pastors who are supposed to be teaching what Christ-likeness is. Ephesians 4:11-14.
Ephesians 4:11-16

11 And He [Jesus Christ] gave some, Apostles; and some, Prophets;
and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 for the perfecting of the saints,
for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 till we all come in the unity of the faith,
and of the knowledge of The Son Of God,
unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:
14 that we henceforth be no more children,
tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine,
by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness,
whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 but speaking the truth in love,
may grow up into Him in all things,
Who is The Head, even Christ:
16 from Whom the whole body
fitly joined together
and compacted by that which every joint supplies,
according to the effectual working in the measure of every part,
makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Philippians 2:1-5
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ,
if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit,
if any bowels and mercies,
2 fulfill you my joy, that you be like-minded,
having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man [or woman] on his [or her] own things,
but every man [or woman] also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

So every weekend I listen to at least 12 sermons and good Christian music.

Most pastors and elders are not sensitive to the Holy Spirit as their teacher. Throughout history the remnant of true obedient believers of God has always been small.

Isaiah 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
***That has nothing to do with the New Testament spiritual gift from God of speaking in tongues.
Chapter 29

1 Woe to Ariel [Jerusalem], to Ariel, the city where David encamped!
Add yet another year; let the feasts run their round [but only one year more].
2 Then will I distress Ariel;
and there shall be mourning and lamentation,
yet she shall be to Me like an Ariel [an altar hearth, a hearth of burning, the altar of God].
3 And I will encamp against you round about;
and I will hem you in with siege works
and I will set up fortifications against you.
13 And The LORD said,
“Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth
and honor Me with their lips
but remove their hearts and minds far from Me,
and their fear and reverence for Me are a commandment of men
that is learned by repetition [without any thought as to the meaning].
14 Therefore, behold! I will again do marvelous things with this people,
marvelous and astonishing things;
and the wisdom of their wise men will perish,
and the understanding of their discerning men will vanish or be hidden.
15 Woe to those who [seek to] hide deep from The LORD their counsel,
whose deeds are in the dark, and who say,
“Who sees us? Who knows us?”
16 [Oh, your perversity!] You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be considered of no more account than the clay?
Shall the thing that is made say of its maker, “He did not make me”;
or the thing that is formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding?”
17 Is it not yet a very little while until Lebanon shall be turned into
a fruitful field and the fruitful field esteemed as a forest?
18 And in that Day shall the deaf hear the words of the book,
and out of obscurity and gloom and darkness
the eyes of the blind shall see.
19 The meek also shall increase their joy in The LORD,
and the poor among men shall rejoice
and exult in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the terrible one [the Assyrian enemy] shall come to nought,
and the scoffer shall cease,
and all those who watch for iniquity
[as an occasion for accusation]
shall be cut off--
21 Those who make a man an offender
and bring condemnation upon him with a word,
and lay a trap for him who upholds justice at the city gate,
and thrust aside the innocent and truly righteous
with an empty plea.
22 Therefore thus says The LORD, Who redeemed Abraham [out of Ur and idolatry],
concerning the House of Jacob: Jacob shall not then be ashamed;
not then shall his face become pale
[with fear and disappointment because of his children's degeneracy].
23 For when he sees his children [walking in the way of piety and virtue],
the work of My hands in his midst, they will revere My Name;
they will revere the Holy One of Jacob
and reverently fear The God Of Israel.
24 Those who err in spirit will come to understanding,
and those who murmur [discontentedly] will accept instruction.

Providing a faith that comes from hearing men. It is not the new faith we receive when we believe God. Without his faith we cannot hear what the Spirit says to the churches (denominations) ***True Christian Faith only really comes from God. It can come from reading, hearing, and communing with God in think loving, thanking, and talking to Him.

QUOTE="garee, post: 3758011, member: 237842"]
No sign gifts ***The 2 verses of the Gospel of John you posted are out of context. I could have done the same with a much quoted verse in 1 Corinthians 1 about seeking signs.

22 For while Jews [demandingly] ask for signs and miracles
and Greeks pursue philosophy and wisdom,
23 we preach Christ (The Messiah) crucified,
[preaching which] to the Jews is a scandal
and an offensive stumbling block [that springs a snare or trap],
and to the Gentiles it is absurd and utterly unphilosophical nonsense.
24 But to those who are called, whether Jew or Greek (Gentile),
Christ [is] the Power of God and the Wisdom of God.
25 [This is] because
the foolish thing [that has its source in] God is wiser than men,
and the weak thing [that springs] from God is stronger than men.
***Who were the Jews in the Old Testament?
What signs and miracles did they see?
What kind of people were many of the ancient Greeks?

What does the above Scripture passage mean?

But Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul never said not to receive any of the spiritual gifts from God. They indicated that we should not seek them. I only sought one and that was the first time I wanted the gift of tongues because many in the Assembly of God church I was attending seemed to be so joyful and I was not even though I had a wonderful wife and 2 wonderful infant daughters at that time in January of 1975.

John 4:48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
46 Then Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where He made the water wine.
And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee,
he went to Him and begged Him that He would come down and heal his son,
for he was at the point of death.
48 Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.”
49 The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50 Jesus said to him, “Go, your son lives.”
And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken to him, and he went away.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying,
“Your son lives.”
52 Then he asked of them the hour when he began to get better.
And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him,
“Your son lives.”
And he himself believed, and his whole house.
54 This is the second miracle Jesus did

when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.

John 6:30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
28 The people asked Jesus, “What does God want us to do?”
29 Jesus answered, “The work God wants you to do is this:
to believe in The One He sent.”
30 So the people asked,
“What miraculous sign will you do for us?
If we can see you do a miracle, then we will believe you.
What will you do?
31 Our ancestors were given manna to eat in the desert.
As the Scriptures say, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’“
32 Jesus said,
“I can assure you that Moses was not the one
who gave your people bread from Heaven.
But my Father gives you the true bread from Heaven.
33 God’s bread is The One Who comes down from Heaven
and gives life to the World.”
34 The people said, “Sir, from now on give us bread like that.”
35 Then Jesus said,
“I am The Bread that gives life.
No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry.
No one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty.
36 I told you before that you have seen Me, and still you don’t believe.
37 The Father gives Me My people.
Every one of them will come to Me.

I will always accept them.

***Lay on your bed or go outdoors in a quiet area where no one else is and wait on God for His spiritual gifts, even speaking in tongues if He desires to edify you in that way. Let God really enter in your life. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit have their parts for doing such and help you live a supernatural life that will be of interest of others. And you can be part of the Great Commission as a Biblical teacher.

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep him (or her) in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You,

because he (or she) trusts in You.”

Ephesians 3:20

Now to Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly

above all that we ask or think,

according to the power that works in us,

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers (and sisters),

whatever things are true,

whatever things are noble,

whatever things are just,

whatever things are pure,

whatever things are lovely,

whatever things are of good report,

if there is any virtue

and if there is anything praiseworthy—

meditate on these things.

Philippians 1:6-7

6 being confident of this very thing,

that He who has begun a good work in you

will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

7 just as it is right for me to think this of you all,

because I have you in my heart,

inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel,

you all are partakers with me of grace.

Philippians 3:14-16

14 I press toward the goal

for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind;

and if in anything you think otherwise,

God will reveal even this to you.

16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained,

let us walk by the same rule,

let us be of the same mind. (See Philippians 2 for more explanation.)

1 Peter 4:12-13

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you,

as though some strange thing happened to you;

13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings,

that when His glory is revealed,

2 Peter 1:10-13

10 Therefore, brothers (and sisters), be even more diligent to make your call and election sure,

for if you do these things you will never stumble;

11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly

into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things,

though you know and are established in the present Truth.

13 Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,
