Does he outline this false gospel?
Well let’s see.
I told you this a few times already. I guess you maybe hope others did not see it?
if salvation is by grace through faith
what happens when you have no faith your faith is dead or your faith is not in God
kind of hard to be saved
so what do you do? You direct people to true faith

Oh yes, James is telling them to see if they have works so they know they are saved.
Lots of people do good works.
No
James is asking them to test their faith
is it a claimed faith only. Or is it living faith
James Abraham and many others showed their faith by their works

You just have words no actions. Is your faith real?

You are funny, all letters are written with believers in view.
And all letters have warning to non believers who are reading or hearing the words
does your church only have believers? Are you sure they are all saved
We should never do this and the apostles did Not either

Read the conversation
it’s what the whole conversation is about
either James contradicted Paul. Or James was directing his words to a different group of people
Dead means inoperative/separated in the Greek and in context.
Do some research.

The old sanctification vs justification mix up
It's clearly something that certain people will proclaim they do nothing to be in God by using the Letters of Paul but reject Paul's final sentiment that he made a serious effort in life to live for God and called it winning a race and fighting the good fight which means he contributed great effort to be a believer.
