Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit aka "the Unpardonable Sin" is finally accomplished when we've resisted and resisted the Holy Spirit for so long, we eventually burn out the conscience and quench the Spirit -- we no longer feel the Spirit's impressions as a man no longer feels thirsty after quenching his thirst. We no longer can sense His directing power over us...we become incapable of receiving pardon because we no longer feel the need to seek it - God can't forgive us because we're incapable of asking for it. "Ye receive not because ye ask not".
Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright and pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they that are bidden to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are true words of God.

If the term His wife has made herself ready equates to righteous acts that the bride has done to earn the white lined and also if saying that the works of the saints now is the white linen then we are either dressed in white now - in which case the white linen cannot be given later on - else we are presently naked or else in rags. According to my faith it is due to Him that [we] are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30). Christ is our garment and no works no matter how worthy they are to be acknowledged in His presence can suffice to cloth us in any measure better than we are now clothed in Him - so neither can simple obedience to Him now equip us more than we are already equipped by the gift of His grace. It is the white of His garment that we would be better attending to and not scrapping for self righteous purity. If we did that then we would have filled up our obedience already.

The Just Man wets his pillow with tears at night begging God for power to overcome shameful habits, and eventually does...there's inexhaustible mercy to cover that Just Man.

However, the Presumptuous Man with his OSAS License to Sin who not only refuses to "confess" and "forsake" his sin, but intends to carry them up to the moment he enters the pearly gates is in danger of waking up in the wrong resurrection.
Your problem is that you do not know what happened at the cross. There He "by a single sacrifice hath sanctified for all time those who come to Him by faith" ... have you therefore come to Him via the faith route or by choosing to earn your salvation?

... He'll make you holy ... for all time ....

there’s instruction for the elect In scripture the term elect should be considered among the word

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:5-16‬ ‭KJV‬

If we are to claim we have our on the new man made in the image of Christ we can’t keep Living like we used to we have to really be the elect me look for true righteousness and holiness at times it’s a good thing to acknolwedge
I live and breathe these scriptures. As you have said they only have application to those who are elect.

It applies to all of God's chosen but generally only those who KNOW they are chosen and who understand what being chosen means [as opposed to those who choose themselves] only these tend to make fair weather of these precious truths.

If someone is resting upon God's choice he is steadfast and sure for God makes no mistakes, if he is resting upon his own choosing this is sinking sand for we choose one day and choose not the next. Double minded, tossed to and fro, unsure, unstable. Planted one day but uprooted the next. Saved today but come Christmas who knows?

No wonder such folks as these fall at every obstacle.

That's why I said "KNOW"

Look, Matthew 24:12-13 KJV destroys OSAS...so, take this cherished belief idol, toss it out, and keep walking in the light, lest darkness come upon you, OK?
I don't hold to OSAS brother, I hold to eternal salvation and so I differentiate between new birth, obedience and resurrection - all of which is included in salvation. I have no concern for your zeal and neither a shred of intention of yielding to it.

Your problem is that you think that "come to Him by faith" is a one night stand instead of a marriage...that we can abide in the Vine this week, then hang out at Satan's holly tree down the street next week.

Good gravy, man, what part of "surrender" does the OSAS crowd not get? You give up your right to govern yourself, and submit yourself to the authority of another, according to Luke 6:46 KJV. That's why 1 John 2:3-4 KJV says those who claim to be saved but are breaking the Ten Commandments are going to be lost, no matter how much they wave their arms in church.

I live and breathe these scriptures.
What do you do with Matthew 24:12-13 KJV which says there will be "many" - who are none other than the Saints - who allow iniquity to turn their agape within them cold, leaving them in a worse spiritual condition than the lost Laodiceans who are spat out of Jesus' mouth for being merely lukewarm?

You say you "breathe" the Scriptures...does this one give you shortness of breath? What does a OSAS person do with it? Pretend it's not there? Pretend it doesn't teach precisely what I've said it does?

What is your comment on this Scripture which, you say, is as life-sustaining as the air you breathe?

yeah it’s good to focus in the right things to do good to focus on Gods love that Christ teaches us to live in . It’s also good to have the understanding that we aren’t supposed to ignore our deeds and pretend they aren’t applicable whether good or bad.

if this wasn’t from the Holy Spirit it wouldn’t be so prevalent in the New Testament

“Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:7-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s good to focus on actually loving people in deed and truth in our actions . But Sin is of the devil it’s his Will . it’s not wrong to accept that part it’s not taboo to discuss it , it shouldn’t offend people it should edify us and change our thinking to agreement with the apostles my only point is that it’s all one doctrine it all works together to change the mind of Christians and a tree what brings us out of sin

as long as we don’t recognize that sin is still death we’re going to allow for it to persist
I have no issue discussing sin and the having the lack thereof and the practice of not sinning however how he wnet about it he was judgmental condemning and yes offensive. He admited he had only lived this way for a year yet came here under a false username under deception he was in no position to be making any judgements on others, even if this was not the case there is a way to teach and a way to not teach he chose the latter or rather was simply not ready to be teaching.

A good teacher knows how to reach their audience and this is done by having the wisdom to know the audience and how to speak to them, the people here value wisdom and good instruction they value good and healthy edification strong and solid instruction even if you find those who disagree with your stance and where you stand on certain doctrines you can still be friends because they value the instruction and wisdom you show in your teaching.

Those fit to be teaching are first and foremost students before anything else they are never judgmental they are patient and respond to snarky remarks with poise and good standing he was none of these he was brass and made rude remarks to all who disagreed with him I knew he would be banned and recognized who he was as soon as I saw his first thread, since you two have a kinship one this matter however maybe you can give him some pointers as he seems to be very rash and quick to make hateful remarks.

I gave this before but you ignored it or perhaps missed it.

If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, If we say we have not sinned we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

My little children these things write I unto you that ye sin not. And if any man sin we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous and He is the propitiation for our sins and not for our sins only but also for the sins of the whole world.

I believe in victorious living, we will only overcome by knowing that sin is forever defeated.
I see many of us Christians, even outside this forum, using these verses as if to suggest St John was saying that, it is okay to continue sinning provided we confess because we have Christ Jesus as our Advocate with the Father. I think this is far from it. Reading the whole of that chapter will tell us this, even, his epistles. Sinning, much more , it's multiplication in our life is not acceptable to God. It remains the differentiating factor between the children of the devil and the children of God. The bible is clear on this and equally gives us the way to ride above sin.

When we sin and we are convicted of it in our hearts, we confess and ask for forgiveness. Good. What does it mean to us to confess? When we confess, we are attesting to the fact or bearing witness that we are now aware of the sin a-n-d will repent of it, starting sincerely from the heart, not just asking for forgiveness. There must be a sincere willingness and readiness to stop. Why is this so? Because, if we do not repent of it when we are aware, we will be like those whom God says confess him with their mouth but their hearts are far from him. They confess him with their mouth but deny him in their deed. Very important to repent of any sin that has come to our knowledge in order not to continue to multiply it.

Yes, we are humans, with human nature and inclinations. But, grace builds upon nature as we have learned. . As believers, we have a higher standard to move beyond these human inclinations by imitating Christ who is our model. In him is no sin. And, we cannot continue to sin because we are believers in him and his blood washes our sins away whenever we sin. I doubt if this is the intention of St John.

The word of God is clear when he says that when the righteous jettisons his righteousness and begins to walk as a sinner, all his righteousness shall not be remembered, and he will be judged just like a sinner.

Sin should not be multiplied in us. Resist the devil, it will definitely flee.

Sure, OSAS is harmless to the person who understands habitual, known, deliberate, presumptuous sin is unacceptable to God and continues to pray, "not my will, but Thine, Lord".

But, let's not pretend the vast majority of OSAS people aren't using it as a License to keep doing that which they know full well they shouldn't, and have no intention of repenting from it. They're prayers are essentially, "Sometimes my will, sometimes Your will, Lord".

At the mere suggestion of obedience and Christian "reasonable service", they're ready to fight to the death. What does that tell us about most OSAS adherents?

Been here 5 minutes, no introduction, just start a contentious thread, and post the SAME stuff as the guy who got banned yesterday. Check

Now let’s see how sinless you really are.
Have you EVER posted on this site, under a different name before today?
Is this really necessary? just asking.

John 8:34-36
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

To repeat sin is to ask GOD to be out of your life. How is GOD to know you at Judgment if you kept on turning from Him? There is no Scripture to support your repeated sin.

If your abiding in CHRIST didn't cost you anything in your life, then you didn't attempt to form to Him (Obey). Your sinner's prayers for repeat sin didn't do anything for your relationship with Him.

1 John 2:6
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

The luke-warm are not connected to GOD because sin separates you from Him. You wouldn't be doing repeat sins if you were covered in His Blood.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When the blood was on houses for Passover, did GOD put that blood on their homes or did they have to put it on themselves??? You are not automatically covered in His Blood.

It appears to be a paradox. While on one hand God's power is made perfect in weakness, on the other hand if you're too perfect then you can't remain humble. This unlocks the meaning of what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 2:

2 Cor. 2:7-10 KJV
7And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

This passage means that Paul's works of the flesh were so righteous that he was sent a "thorn in the flesh" to prevent him reaching a level of righteousness too high and powerful; in other words Paul was almost perfect. This thorn in the flesh was not an injury or a physical handicap, from what I can see, but rather an imperfection in Paul's spiritual walk (Paul admitted to struggling with sin in Romans 7:15-20). Paul was kept humble through his weakness(es?) so that God's power could remain perfected in him. Paul understood that when he is weak he's actually stronger in Christ.

Alas, the wheat and tares gotta grow together...one inspired writer says the reason God ordained it to be this way is so constant attack, subversion, distraction, undermining, etc., will be a constant reminder of our total dependence on God, especially when it comes to the Father's business.

I believe the whole of that scripture

I think you and I would not be fully agreed upon what "His commandments" are as opposed to the law of Moses and we would prolly have a lively discussion about what the righteousness of Christ [and ours in Him] consists of.

We are fully agreed on our need to put away sin. The question is how? I say it is by KNOWING that He has done it for us already.
The OP is not on the question of how? but on the necessity for believers to stop sinning. If we restrict our discussions on the OP, the disagreement would lessen.
