Why I keep the Sabbath FYI.

Conscience bothering you? That's not us that would be God's Holy Spirit.....and I don't see anyone here trying to guilt trip you anyway.... Just talking about why they observe Sabbath.

Now I'm a lackey? What's a lackey? We aren't peddling anything just talking about the Sabbath. Which is still as important as why we shouldn't murder... It is a love command. Showing love and loyalty to God as the don't murder is loving our fellow man.

Have any of us here posting told you that you must keep the Sabbath? I haven't seen it.... The Bible verse asks to Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy but none of us have told you to do so.. God asked us to remember....

Does 'keeping' the sabbath bring a person closer to Christ?

No. It can't. Anymore than abstaining from murder or adultery brings someone closer to Christ.

The law is a tool to bring someone to Christ. After the tool has done its job it is no longer needed. Because the tool is designed to start someone in their walk in the Spirit by causing a person to come to the One who can help. The law has no power to cause someone to grow or walk in the Spirit. Only the Lord Jesus Christ has the power to cause you to grow and walk in the Spirit.

The law does show sin. And that is all it can show. What it can never do is show obedience. The law always requires something that you can't perform. Its because the law is spiritual but people think they can perform it by their physical work.


Around and around we go. I keep the sabbath on saturday because I am obedient. Well, no, you think you are obedient. That is relying on your own understanding. Trusting in the Lord with all your heart would be believing that He indeed gives you rest from all your work at the law. You would trust that it is He who perfects you and nothing else.

I am dead to the law so that I might live unto God. That statement is a complete contradiction to the law keepers and their philosophy. "Well, I don't do it to be saved". That's for sure. "I'm blessed by my work at the law". That's not what Galatians 3 says. That's not what Christianity says. Christianity says we rely on Christ to be blessed. And He blesses us more than we can think or imagine. Not by our work or understanding but by The Lord's work and understanding.


I appreciate people trying to obey Gods Law. Its a good first step. But keep going. Read Matthew 5. Let it do what its designed to do. Then, when it has, let it go. Don't look back.

Its practice. Re-hearsal.

Re-hearsing with the understanding of a child until we have grown in the understanding that the Lord Jesus Christ gives us.

Showing Love and Loyalty to the Lord Jesus Christ means dying to the law and our own "righteousness" and living for Him. Trusting and having Faith that He perfects us and not our works of the law.

No, my conscience is clean. I see clearly how the righteousness required by the 4th commandment is fulfilled through faith.

The OP is a guilt tripper because he says not keeping the 4th commandment is sin. Anyone else who says it is sin for anyone other than themselves is a guilt tripper also.

One person who I will leave nameless has most definitely insisted all must observe a Saturday Sabbath, but not in this thread, another has hinted at it today, but let us put hints to one side. I accept the majority in accordance with scripture do not do that
 
So you worship the day, And had to open a thread and post a long drawn out post of why you follow the law. and to say your not doing it to follow law.

your just like the rest of the jew wanna be's..
 
why do I try to take a day of rest.

1. I work hard all week, My body needs a day to recover
2. My mind works hard all week, it needs a day to relax and not be so stressed.

The day of sabbath was given for man, for for God..

Your not holy if you keep it, your not a child of God if you keep it. Your not anythng if you keep it but rested (even a sinner who does not believe in God can keep it and keep the benefits of it)

so why do people want to keep focuing on the law. And not Christ?

In my experience those who most insist on laws being obeyed that men can see, do so to cover up difficulties in their lives that relate to laws only they and God need know if they break. . It makes them feel better if a law that does not relate to that is obeyed(as they see it)

yep. thats why I will always ask them why they are watering down the law of God so they can think they are keeping it.

No one can keep th elaw as God requires. Only Jesus did.

Nobody's man enough, or honest enough with themselves, to say it directly and openly. This is how it's presented: No one is saved by works, but true faith will produce works. What they really mean is: No one is saved by works of law, but true faith will produce works of law. A double-minded contradiction.

You're right, no one can keep the Law perfectly.

But that doesn't mean their principles and God's desire to follow them aren't still in effect. It's about putting obedience to the Law in proper perspective. And that's recognizing you don't have to keep them perfectly, but they're good instructions on how to live.

The principles of the law are love and faith. Once you learn how to run, you don't need to take baby steps anymore.
