I think their explanation is BS. Jesus is lord. Where is God, the father, called that in the bible? Simple question. I won't entertain BS Christian contortions.
Jesus is the NT form of Joshua,
so humility would be good,
but if you deny the NT calls God "Father",
it appears YOUR Christianity is contorted!

I searched for the first instance of lord in the bible and it occurs in Genesis 15:2. Notice the title case istead of uppercase spelling. It's interesting that this happens so long after Adam's sin. We know he is speaking with Jesus because a bit later God walks between the pieces while making a covenant with Abram.

And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house [is] this Eliezer of Damascus? Genesis 15:2

So my conclusion at this point after dwelling on the matter is that God, the father, is never called lord in the bible. That is Jesus' role. But that will disappear one day and God will be all in all. At this stage of my investigation it is my opinion that it was never God's intent for there to be lord's and subjects, but that needful hierarchy came into being because of rebellion against God's will. Once rebellion has been completely subdued, there will no longer be any need for lordships. I think I finally now understand this verse.

Then [cometh] the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy [that] shall be destroyed [is] death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under [him, it is] manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 1 Corinthians 15:24-28

Well, God is called the Lord in the OT, but the only place I found in the NT is Acts 17:24-31.

So, you are correct that the NT applies the title of Lord only to Jesus except in Revelation 4:8-11.

Yes, in 1Cor. 7:6 & 25 Paul said that he was giving an opinion rather than sharing a command from the Lord,
although Jesus did say something similar regarding marriage in Matt. 19:11-12.

Another place where IMO Paul opined rather than commanded is 1Cor. 11:2-16,
because he stated that he was passing on traditions, which in other places are devalued (Matt. 15:6, Mark 7:8, Gal. 1:14, Col. 2:8).

A third place Paul opined may be 1Tim. 2:14, in which Paul blames Eve for the first sin, when the account in Gen. 3:6-7 clearly indicates
that the first way Eve helped Adam (Gen. 2:18) was to partake of the forbidden fruit WITH her.

Yes, technically worship and prayer should be directed to God the Father,
but God the Son/Lord Incarnate was not anal about it.

I don't think You understood the verse correctly.

Jesus, The Son Of Man, was telling Satan HE was not in command of All Things. Get behind Me; that is, You do not have the authority to do what You are seeking to do. Why? Because Satan was not given authority to do The Work which Jesus; the son of man, was given to do.

John 15:1-2 (Living Bible)
I am The TRUE VINE, and My Father is The Gardener. He lops off every branch that doesn't produce.
This Verse should be considered when One is reading Genesis and The Creation story.

Well, God is called the Lord in the OT...
In the OT Jesus is called Lord God, but as far as I've found so far, the father is called YHWH God. YHWH does not mean lord.

I would have to say Acts 17:24-31 is referring to Christ, but the Revelation verse indisputably calls God, the father, lord. So is this the only place in the bible God, the father, is called lord?

Let us trace and connect these 4 verses.
Genesis 17:7
Hebrews 9:16-17
1Timothy 3:16
John 19:30

God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob whom they call God The Father or The Spirit God made a Covenant or Testament.
GENESIS 17:7
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

According to Paul, the covenant or the testament is nothing while the maker is alive.
So it requires the death of the maker so the testament will fulfill.
HEBREWS 9:16-17
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

God The Father in his form as Spirit God could not die. But God the Father himself must die to fulfill the Testament.
Since there is no impossible to God. Then Paul said, what God The Father did so that God The Father Himself could die. God The Father had seen in Flesh.
1 TIMOTHY 3:16
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

JOHN 19:30
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
With the connection of the 4 verses that Jesus as The Everlasting Father mentioned the fulfillment of the Testament (John 19:30).
Thomas being one of the Apostles proved that Jesus is The Everlasting Father.
JOHN 20:26-28
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

@GWH, I figured out how to search for verses in which YHWH is called Lord, and there are a bunch of them. So my initial impression was incorrect. For example:

And Moses said unto the LORD [YHWH], O my Lord, I [am] not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I [am] slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. Exodus 4:10

Jesus ask Peter: "Who do You say I am" ? Peter said: "You are The Son Of Man. Jesus said to Him: You are blessed, for My Father gave that knowledge to You.
Who was The Son Of Man ? ?

ISAIAH 9:6
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
I think Jesus Christ is the child, son, Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

In Heb. 2:11-13, Jesus calls believers His brethren. But Heb. 2:13 also calls them "the children whom God has given Me". Similarly, in John 13:11 and John 21:5, Jesus called His disciples: "Children". In John 14:18, Jesus said He would not leave them as "orphans". So Jesus had a relationship with His disciples that was similar to being their father.

John 1:12 says that those who believe become children of God. Since Jesus is God, then believers are His children too. So I think Jesus is the everlasting Father to believers, which is not the same as being God the Father.

Not sure why you think I misunderstood Matt. 16:23, but/because I agree with your commentary.

Well, your impression of the OT was incorrect, but you are generally correct regarding the NT,
in which the only other references to God as Lord I have found are Matt. 22:44 & Acts 2:34,
both of which are quotations of Psalm 110:1 (cf. 1Cor. 15:24-28, Heb. 1:13).

I asked AI for some verses in the bible in which God, the father, is called lord. Even it couldn't answer my question and gave some BS answer that is wrong. LORD (with all caps) in the bible is always a wrong translation of YHWH. In the Jeremiah verse it provided YHWH is speaking.
How about:

“But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.” (Mt 1:20 NKJV)

Lord is in lower case, apart from the L, and transates the Greek "Kyrios."
