That is not the definition of slander.
To harm one's reputation with false statements, it has to be public so people can hear it.
When the pharisees said Jesus cast out devils thru Beelzebub they didn't say it privately.

Still not the definition, speaking things you know for a fact to be untrue.

In order to slande(r), one has to speak out & that being publicly on purpose knowing the real truth.

28“Truly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons and daughters of men, and whatever blasphemies they commit; 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Read the Book, It's right there.
There's NOTHING in John that says unbelief in Christ is an unforgivable sin. Many sinners walk in unbelief in Christ for decades before real conviction comes, & still get saved later.
You can believe in something so much that you'll look for it in everything you read.
I never said it did.
I only asked a question.
Why do you always come across as narky/angry person.
That's why I avoid you.
I won't ask you any questions again.
Do you speak like this to non Christians?
Anyway anyone who does not repent of the of the sin of unbelief that Jesus states in John cannot be saved.

Don't respond, I rather speak to people who wish to discuss rather than attack.

That is NOT what blaspheming the Holy Spirit means, & those who make such a declaration is using eisegesis.
Blaspheme - 987: to slander, hence to speak lightly or profanely of sacred things.
Anyone can reject Christ without saying a word.
In order to slande, one has to speak out & that being publicly on purpose knowing the real truth.

Actually, the HS says that the unforgiveable sin is dying while an atheist/antiChristian,
because Today is the opportunity for salvation. (Hebrews 3:7-15)

The subject is what blaspheming the Holy Spirit is.
Webster: to speak in a way that shows irreverence for God or something sacred : to utter blasphemy.
Strong's Exhaustive Concordance
blaspheme, defame, revile, speak evil.
From blasphemos; to vilify; specially, to speak impiously -- (speak) blaspheme(-er, -mously, -my), defame, rail on, revile, speak evil.

see GREEK blasphemos

HELPS Word-studies
987 blasphēméō(from blax, "sluggish, slow" and 5345 /phḗmē, "reputation, fame") – properly, refusing to acknowledge good (worthy of respect, veneration); hence, to blaspheme which reverses moral values.

NAS Exhaustive Concordance
Word Origin
from blasphémos
Definition
to slander, hence to speak lightly or profanely of sacred things

NASB Translation
be spoken of as evil (1), blaspheme (4), blasphemed (6), blasphemers (1), blasphemes (3), blaspheming (4), dishonored (1), hurling abuse (3), malign (2), maligned (1), revile (3), reviling (1), slandered (1), slanderously reported (1), spoken against (1), utter (1).

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
Jesus issues a singular, solemn warning: “Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven” (Luke 12:10; Mark 3:28-29). In context the Pharisees attribute Spirit-empowered miracles to Satan.

Sure, this can be done privately, but for best effect, publically, as the pharisees did to speak against Jesus to defame Him.

Re "to speak in a way that shows irreverence for God or something sacred, defame, revile, speak evil, vilify":
Yep, that is what atheists and anti-Christians do, and they had better repent ASAP per the HS they blaspheme,
because Today is the opportunity for salvation (Hebrews 3:7-15); there may be no tomorrow.

John 16:7-10
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

Jesus clearly states that the Holy Spirit will convict the world of of the sin of unbelief in him.

If they don't repent of that, then they are not saved.
If they cannot be saved as a result then it's the unforgivable sin.
They reject the conviction that Jesus is who he said he is and that in fact he rose from the dead for the forgiveness of sins.

What does blaspheming the Holy Spirit mean? (Matthew 12:31)

The Pharisees and scribes were attributing Jesus's work to the Devil.

They were denying who He is, believing Him to be a Devil or the Devil, calling him beezelbub.

So this isn't about a believer denying Jesus. It's unconverted, legalistic pharisees rejecting Jesus to begin with.

Yes, they were atheists and the original anti-Christs per John 8:42-47.

EIther way, enlarging the font and underlining indicates you have some anger there.

No it does not indicate anger at all.. It indicates the critical words in the scripture or the message you think are the most important in relation to the point you are making..

What that says to me is, "Here you go simpletons,

Thats what you have interpreted it to mean.. It is not what i mean.. I use bold and underline to support the point of view i am putting forward it is not indicating what i think of the other persons intellectual ability.. I use the same technique no matter if i think the other persons is brilliant or simple..

do I have to explain everything to you?!" Unfortunately, most denominational church goers are the most angry, arrogant, power hungry people you'll ever encounter.

Well thats sad.. But you're not encountering one here.. :)

Case in point

Just be sure you aren’t projecting with three fingers pointing back at you.

I sometimes bold / underline / italicize / enlarge fonts / color fonts in my replies to folks ... but not because I'm angry ... just to emphasize a certain point ... I'll try to remember if replying to you that you prefer I not do that ... but I might forget every now and again ... apologies in advance if that happens ...
.

And I am now enlarging the font because I just learned how to do it—
but not on my phone.

I generally increase the font size to 18 (system defaults to 15). I find the 15 is a little difficult to read if/when someone submits a long post with no separation between paragraphs ... these old eyes just ain't what they used to be ...

When it happened to Jesus the scribes came to Him and accused Him of doing His miracles by satanic power.. But Jesus had done His miracles by the Power of the Holy Spirit.. So the scribes had accused the Holy Spirit of being a demon.. that is what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is..

Have a read: it's all in the passage:

(Mark 3:22-30) "¶ And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. {23} And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? {24} And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. {25} And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. {26} And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. {27} No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. {28} Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: {29} But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: {30} Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."
I am addressing this question to those who believe such a sin is unpardonable - which I don't.

What does that say about the destiny of those presumptuously accusing Christians who speak in tongues of doing so by demonic power?

If a person is speaking in tongues by the power of the Holy Spirit and an accuser comes along and declares that the tongues are done by the power of demons/ satan then they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit and will never have forgiveness just as Jesus said the scribes who accused Him of performing His miracles through the power of a demon would never have forgiveness..

One either believes what Jesus said or they don't.. Trusting what the LORD says is key to being a follower of the LORD and therefore covered by His atoning blood..

Is speaking in tongues a miracle?

If a person goes to a church and hears tongues for the first time and thinks it's evil have they blasphemed?

I was one of them

his is a big problem for those who think the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is publicly attributing His work to Satan and that such a deed is unforgivable. The door to heaven slams permanently shut on so many people. God's grace becomes hamstrung.

I am grateful that I sincerely don't believe the scriptures are saying what you think they are saying.
