To harm one's reputation with false statements, it has to be public so people can hear it.That is not the definition of slander.
Still not the definition, speaking things you know for a fact to be untrue. To harm one's reputation with false statements, it has to be public so people can hear it.
When the pharisees said Jesus cast out devils thru Beelzebub they didn't say it privately.
In order to slande(r), one has to speak out & that being publicly on purpose knowing the real truth.
I never said it did.28“Truly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons and daughters of men, and whatever blasphemies they commit; 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
Read the Book, It's right there.
There's NOTHING in John that says unbelief in Christ is an unforgivable sin. Many sinners walk in unbelief in Christ for decades before real conviction comes, & still get saved later.
You can believe in something so much that you'll look for it in everything you read.
That is NOT what blaspheming the Holy Spirit means, & those who make such a declaration is using eisegesis.
Blaspheme - 987: to slander, hence to speak lightly or profanely of sacred things.
Anyone can reject Christ without saying a word.
In order to slande, one has to speak out & that being publicly on purpose knowing the real truth.
The subject is what blaspheming the Holy Spirit is.
Webster: to speak in a way that shows irreverence for God or something sacred : to utter blasphemy.

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
Jesus issues a singular, solemn warning: “Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven” (Luke 12:10; Mark 3:28-29). In context the Pharisees attribute Spirit-empowered miracles to Satan.
Sure, this can be done privately, but for best effect, publically, as the pharisees did to speak against Jesus to defame Him.
What does blaspheming the Holy Spirit mean? (Matthew 12:31)
The Pharisees and scribes were attributing Jesus's work to the Devil.
They were denying who He is, believing Him to be a Devil or the Devil, calling him beezelbub.
So this isn't about a believer denying Jesus. It's unconverted, legalistic pharisees rejecting Jesus to begin with.
EIther way, enlarging the font and underlining indicates you have some anger there.
What that says to me is, "Here you go simpletons,
do I have to explain everything to you?!" Unfortunately, most denominational church goers are the most angry, arrogant, power hungry people you'll ever encounter.
I sometimes bold / underline / italicize / enlarge fonts / color fonts in my replies to folks ... but not because I'm angry ... just to emphasize a certain point ...

Case in point
I sometimes bold / underline / italicize / enlarge fonts / color fonts in my replies to folks ... but not because I'm angry ... just to emphasize a certain point ... I'll try to remember if replying to you that you prefer I not do that ... but I might forget every now and again ... apologies in advance if that happens ...
.
I generally increase the font size to 18 (system defaults to 15). I find the 15 is a little difficult to read if/when someone submits a long post with no separation between paragraphs ... these old eyes just ain't what they used to be ...And I am now enlarging the font because I just learned how to do it—
but not on my phone.
I am addressing this question to those who believe such a sin is unpardonable - which I don't.When it happened to Jesus the scribes came to Him and accused Him of doing His miracles by satanic power.. But Jesus had done His miracles by the Power of the Holy Spirit.. So the scribes had accused the Holy Spirit of being a demon.. that is what blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is..
Have a read: it's all in the passage:
(Mark 3:22-30) "¶ And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. {23} And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? {24} And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. {25} And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. {26} And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. {27} No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. {28} Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: {29} But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: {30} Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."
I am addressing this question to those who believe such a sin is unpardonable - which I don't.
What does that say about the destiny of those presumptuously accusing Christians who speak in tongues of doing so by demonic power?
Is speaking in tongues a miracle? If a person is speaking in tongues by the power of the Holy Spirit and an accuser comes along and declares that the tongues are done by the power of demons/ satan then they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit and will never have forgiveness just as Jesus said the scribes who accused Him of performing His miracles through the power of a demon would never have forgiveness..
One either believes what Jesus said or they don't.. Trusting what the LORD says is key to being a follower of the LORD and therefore covered by His atoning blood..
his is a big problem for those who think the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is publicly attributing His work to Satan and that such a deed is unforgivable. The door to heaven slams permanently shut on so many people. God's grace becomes hamstrung. Is speaking in tongues a miracle?
If a person goes to a church and hears tongues for the first time and thinks it's evil have they blasphemed?
I was one of them
