Better than suggesting unemployed teenagers drive 18 wheelers cross country to solve our supply chain issues, I can see you are the right stuff for the Biden administration. Perhaps secretary of transportation.

Horse plops are also called "road apples" around here.
I understand why my dad's favorite name for a disreputable person was calling him a "horses behind", everyone knew what that was.

I noticed some shelves are half empty at our local super walmart and it's the biggest, nicest walmart around here. People come from other towns to shop here. And this is reminding me of the pandemic hoarding where a lot of shelves were empty, but right now its only some shelves that have a lot of areas where product is missing. Maybe not quite half empty, but probably 30% empty. At least the TP and towel paper aisle is still full. I haven't seen any half-empty shelves at costco yet, but I think they move things around a lot daily so nothing looks empty, you'll just notice something they used to sell isn't anywhere in the store. That's happened already actually with mixed vegetables and fish sticks (I just remembered as I was typing).

Costco has their own shipping fleet and logistics company. (Which is a unique difference between them and Walmart/Sam's club.)

They usually will have a better stock than anyone else...up to a point. There are some things that even they can't get.

Expect a lean Christmas season. Not much merchandise to purchase...and complicated items will be non-existent. What is available will be expensive with few items on sale.

True discounted items will not appear until January possibly... maybe February.

This is going to be known as the Christmas that money couldn't buy.

Your out of box thinking at solving supply chain issues is the stuff that Biden's administration needs. Horses instead of cars, that was interesting, but when confronted with issues you simply come up with innovative solutions around the problem, replace rubber tires with wooden ones. Amazing! One wonders why no one else has thought of bringing back wooden tires these last 100 years. You are a go getter, not like Buttigieg.

After all the post of yours that I've read, I still can not tell when you are being sarcastic or serious.

But I do still seriously wonder just how in the world my ancestors EVER survived without rubber wheels and our modern day tech?

They were tougher than we are, and they also had a life expectancy about half of ours.

Umm humm I found myself watching a Youtube video on how to use Crisco as a candle. Amazing the things that can be done. Hoping it's not going to get that bad. I know back in the day electricity got so high that everyone went to wood furnaces in Canada. I recall dad out chopping wood for the season. Wasn't his favorite job but mom would pester him till it got done.lol

Between a chainsaw and a log splitter it is not nearly as tough a job anymore. The real problem is that you are supposed to let the wood age for a year after splitting it. Getting that extra year done, that is really tough. A relatively simple problem to solve if you have $1,000, just buy a few cords.

Well my father never had a father to show him how to do these jobs and do them safely. I recall one time a log slipped I believe. Either way my father cut through his pants, his long underwear and caught his leg. All I recall is when he came and showed my mother she was more upset that he had cut through his new long johns. rofl Mom was a nurse, unless you came with your head under your arm, nothing was "that" serious. If my mother panicked, there was something to panic about.

I hacked my leg real well also trying to split logs when I was a teenager. My dad made me split logs for our fireplace.

About half of North America lives in single family homes... meaning that the other half lives in apartments and condominiums.

That's a problem with tight energy supplies.

The other ridiculous issue is with insulation requirements for multi-family housing. (No where near enough is ever used) single family homes have tons by comparison... because of the rules.

If they fixed that disparity...it would be a different ballgame. But political opposition to it is the real culprit.
 
Apartment buildings don't need nearly as much insulation because you share many walls with other rooms that are heated. A cube has 6 sides, in an apartment you often have 5 sides shared with other apartments so you only need 1/6th the insulation on that exterior wall.
 
This is a good thing.

Biden explained that the supply shortages are actually a good thing because the underlying issue is that people are getting better jobs that pay higher.

Afghanistan was a success, inflation is a success because it is cutting down our consumption, and the shortages are a success of his economic plan because people are getting better jobs.

Was this what Trump meant when he said we would get tired of winning?
