Do you really believe that some are naturally privy to the laws of God and some are without? Or do we all have access to God?
This is an amazing question. I will give you the best possible answer that I think can be given.
Ezekiel 36:25-27 tells us that the Children of God will be given a new Heart and a new Spirit. This must happen if we are to be "awakened" by Christ. Here are the passages (all translations are amazing):
Ezekiel 36:25-27 KJV - "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."
These very Words and this very Process, or, Operation, are explained perfectly in Colossians 2:9-15. This is incredible . . .
Colossians 2:9-15 NLT - "For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."
You should be shocked that your pastor has never shown you this. I'm shocked, and I've known about this for years. To date, and we're looking at nearly 50's of understanding English, I've never been shown how those passages are nearly one and the same.
To answer your question . . . we must be awakened by Christ, as in, receive the Circumcision of Christ. It is only until then that we can See, Hear, and Walk in His Ways. Our Hearts must be cleansed of the Sinful Nature, the Mind of the Devil, the Sinful Way, Adamic Curse, or whatever we want to call it, this element of the Fall of Man must be cut out and removed. We must be spared of this evil thinking so that we can even [begin] to Know the Lord. This is the foundation to understanding why Paul would say that Salvation is entirely the Work of the Lord, lest he should boast. And speaking of Paul . . . when he was Saul, he met the Lord on the Damascus Road, and from that Holy Day forward, Saul was lifted of his sinful thinking so that he would become willing to live (and die) for Christ. Paul was given the ability to Know and Understand God.
There is so much that could be said, and I hope that many others respond, but there is this Path of Holy People called the Remnant. These are of the Incorruptible Seed; and the Word of God says that this group of the Elect, are very few in number. So what does this say about the rest of us? Who are we? WHAT are we? So as you can see, it becomes vitally important that we become more Holy . . . more worthy of the Life of Christ as He died on the cross. If we do not change, it means that the Holy Spirit has not converted our bodies into a Living Temple. We must become that Holy Temple for which our Powerful Holy Spirit to live and permanently Indwell.
We cannot take the chance of not knowing for sure! We must change! We must become more like Abraham and Moses . . . Holy and mature men (and Blessed Women). If we do not change, it means that we are [not] controlled by the Holy Spirit.
I hope that what I wrote makes sense . . . this could have easily been a three hundred page response.
