So many models, way too many, Henry Ford offered any color you want, as long as it was black.

Knutson of General Motors cut the production time to build a Sherman tank by 97%.
It's in the first 4 minutes. So many of these "miracles" happened in WW2 I believe His hand moved these things.

Someone else might like this too.

These two race gunners compare 2011 style pistols that have comps, ports against standard pistols. 6 Shot Bill drill times are compared all the way out to 50 yards. Very interesting.
Is this relevant for self defense or just for race guns?

That's MAJOR production engineering! 10,000 workers at one plant and high quality control. I doubt there's anything comparable today.

The Recoilless rifle- quite the invention-

That rearward BLAST was devastating! I should have asked a tank man who I went to school with how they could tolerate the dBs of noise because I was curious.

I found the sighting system just as interesting. High tech back then worked with a ballistically identical 50 cal marker. Today everything military is computerized including many of their DMR scopes. Same purpose with different tech.

I have a case from one of the 50 cal spotter rounds, shorter than a Browning 50, developed to duplicate the recoilless rifle trajectory, the primer has a brass tube extending the ignition flame a couple inches forward, the charge will burn back to the base from the ignition point. That was an Elmer Keith idea and pretty secret in ww2.

Cool!
That is very interesting.
That round must be a very rare military collectable .
The only recoilless projectile I was familiar with were the bazooka and the shoulder mounted tubes that are common knowledge. I had no idea they designed it in such a big gun.

I see why it was a fire and run away item. You couldn't leave it hooked up to a Jeep. 😄

It outranged the panzer Faust by a bunch, uncle carried one in Korea.

That's pretty neat. He was a Bazooka Operator!
I heard that you wouldn't want to go behind one of those when they were launched either.
He had to be mighty courageous to get anywhere near a tank. They not only had the heavy gun but an anti aircraft/personnel auto. I don't think there were many volunteers for the bazooka.

The Bazooka was recoilless but different.

With all these new members, I decided to revive an old topic. Just to see how many of y'all are also gun enthusiasts.

So here is a thread for general talk about guns, gun accessories, and gun-related hobbies.

Anybody have gun-related New Years resolutions?
I think you also need a secondary weapon if you’re gonna carry a gun, like pepper spray. Excellent training is vital in owning a gun. The only thing that matters is exonerating yourself in court if you ever shoot someone.
