The problem was that church that Blain attended was that those in charge thought that they themselves could bestow the gift of tongues. Of course, this was not biblical. It is the Holy Spirit that does the gift giving, not an individual or organization.
Jesus received from John, He imparted to the 12, they to the seventy, and on and on, the "church" is the body of believers. we receive from the Spirit filled brothers and sisters, sounds like, if the story is true they may have misapplied this truth?
God works through people.

Yes but it has be by his will not mine and so if I do push a little if it is not by his leading then it is not his will. Surrender, submission , obedience this is how I operate with him and it is how I have seen him do amazing things.

Yes, we should obey God, and a way to discern God's will is to see which door opens.
From what I understand of your situation, the door to the church is closed, so that leaves
the door to starting a home church as the only option. If that does not open either,
then I guess you must do nothing regarding church attendance other than forums.

I am talking about the church that Blain attended and not what Jesus received from John. Apparently, the leaders of that particular church believed, wrongly so, that they themselves could impart gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Well actually a pastor just visited me from another church they cannot give me a ride but they have a discord channel that they all interact on so that is a good start I think. So one door closed but another one just opened

Holy Spirit impartation is through His Own since Pentecost.
From a person to a person.
The "church" is the body of believers.

Sounds like His plan is going forward!
bless you, friend

Maybe you can involve other residents in viewing the channel and then discuss it with a song and prayer.
(I always like both-and if possible :^)

speaking in tongues?
Precious friend, we love all the Grace brethren, but would humbly ask: If they believe
"speaking in tongues" is for today, then should they not then follow all the rules given
By The Risen And Glorified Christ, The Head Of The Church, to our Grace apostle, Paul?

But maybe if I go there and provide biblical evidence that their teaching is wrong they will
learn and listen but I highly doubt that
Exactly, and I believe that God Would Rather Receive our separation / obedience
than us 'participating with the Disobedient' ! ( unclean: 2 Corinthians 6:17 AV), Correct?
[ I, personally, have left man's traditions = Several times ↑ ✓with no regrets. ]

On the other hand we have this different view for prayerful / Careful consideration.
addressing ' That ' Which is found in:

Three verses:

"Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;
whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge,
it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But
When That Which Is Perfect Is Come, then that which is in part shall be
done away." (1 Corinthians 13:8-10 AV)
+
Three Possibilities:

a) That Completed ( Perfect ) Word Of God, Which Has "Already Come"?
[ "The Perfect Word Magnified Above All His Holy Name"
(Psalm 138:2 AV), Correct? ]
b) He, Christ, The Perfect One, comes at The Second Advent? = Not 'That'?
c) The Perfect New Heavens and New Earth, Wherein Dwelleth Perfect
Righteousness when That comes, at The End of Time? Then gifts cease?
+
Three Remaining ( God's More Excellent Way! ), Under Today's Grace, Correct?:

"And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but
The Greatest of These is charity." (1 Corinthians 13:13 AV)
Amen.

Well, going in God's power will be successful in God's eyes.
Jesus was successful because He was crucified.
Paul was successful although he was martyred.

we must not look at it from the worldly view, but rather from the view of the Father after we renew our minds.

So I went to this church that I was invited to and as of right now it is the only one that will be able to pick me up as I cannot drive or leave the nursing home I am trapped in well the worship is good but the thing is they were very adamant on trying to get me to speak in tongues they say that everyone is able to have the gift and apparently everyone there speaks in tongues but the thing is when they put me on the spot to speak in tongues I was praying hard but nothing came out but they were telling me to keep going but and that I nbeed to want it bad enough well in the end I told them I cannot do it and I want the real thing I can't force it.

They still wanted me to and they even had their hands on me and were speaking in another language but in the end I told them I am done I just cannot do it in fact all it did was drain me.

I admit I was kind of sad and discouraged as I was hoping I could speak in tongues but the thing is firstly they were all faking it I have been in front of actual tongues before and all they were doing were faking it secondly I just couldn't muster it or have it naturally flow out of me and their laying of hands had no power to it nothing at all

Well I came home and still discouraged began thinking about it and talking to God and I came to the conclusion that what they were doing was wrong. they wanted me to speak tongues on their terms not God's if I ever do speak in tongues it will be when God leads me to not when they want me to and it will come naturally and flow like a river
Another thing is that I may not have the gift period even though they say everyone can have it but when I asked them where does the bible say that anyone can have it they didn't really have an answer they just said the bible indicates that the gift is for everyone but said they would have to find the verse to support it
I am going back next sunday and they likely will try to get me to do it again but doesn't it seem off ? in fact is there any scripture at all to support their claims? as a matter of fact I am pretty sure there is a scripture that outright denies it isn't there?
Not on. Speaking in tongues is a consequence of being baptised in the Holy Spirit. Before my wife was saved (around 40 years ago), she was seeking. A church she went to did not even bother to find out if she was saved or not. They badgered her into speaking something not English. She ended up with a fake tongue.

Speaking in tongues is not the big deal Pentecostals make it out to be.

1 Corinthians 12: 29-31
"Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.…"

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is what matters. It grants us power to witness. The excessive emphasis on tongues talking is unbiblical. I was blessed with the Holy Spirit Christmas Eve 1974. I began to pray in tongues immediately. I don't now. Why? I just don't see a need. My wife was born again and was baptised in the Holy Spirit a couple of years after her fake experience. She still speaks in tongues and that's fine.

The most spiritual man I ever knew never spoke in tongues. He did receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit shortly after being born again. He had gifts of prophecy, discernment, wisdom, knowledge and healing. Not tongues.

Pentecostals latch onto one verse to make their case. It's Mark 16:17

"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;

They overlook verse 18, "they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”…

Some even go as far to say that you are not saved if you do not speak in tongues. I tell them, "Drink this poison, let's see if you are saved.

Enough of the rant. Ask Jesus for His protection. There are a lot of fake manifestations masquerading as the Holy Spirit. Test it out. One way is to plead the precious blood of Jesus over your life and over the congregation. We overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and our testimony, Revelation 12:11

I love the Holy Spirit and all the gifts and fruit and everything and every way the Holy Spirit moves and operates in God's people giving guidance, counsel, instruction, teaching, understanding, comfort, encouragement, correction, edification, insight, wisdom... and one day the power that raises us from the dead!

I agree that speaking in tongues is not needed to be saved but, if someone is genuinely speaking in tongues (not faking it) then it can be evidence they are saved but not the WHY they are saved.

The Holy Spirit is so gentle and easily grieved... be so respectful when speaking of His gifts and speaking about Him... He hears you. Just love on Him and appreciate Him, be thankful He is with us on the Earth... The Holy Spirit is so wonderful...

Blain - you've experienced so much pain in life... you can understand how the Holy Spirit feels at times when others don't understand and speak wrongfully of Him.... speak to the Holy Spirit the way you would want to be spoken to.. His gifts are His gifts to give... we just want Him!

I wouldn't be able to because most of the residents are not there in the head mentally in fact all they can do is be taken care of they cannot even form full sentences and others are just not able to think straight

If we recognize an area where the enemy is at work attacking people that is our first area of ministry, Jesus "healed them all", not just the ones who understood language.

I respect that, truly I do. But when false teachers/prophets number in the thousands, You have to bring absolute proof to the table. No one will believe you otherwise.
I guess I need to practice what I preach, lol.

This one talks about the history of the prosperity gospel, or otherwise known as the faith movement.
Hagin plagiarized E.W.Kenyon, who wasn't even a Pentecostal. It was Hagin who brought it to the Pentecostal Movement, saying God gave it to him. Kenyon died in 1948, & Hagin thought it wouldn't be questioned by making it his. But Kenyon's daughter sued hagin, & the suit dragged on for years with Hagin finally winning I think.

In regard to speaking in tongues, I will never forget when my friend (who previously attended an Assemblies of God church) went to a Bible study at his Pastor's house once a week and sometimes the Pastor would speak in tongues during their Bible study. My friend worked with a woman who attended a Baptist church and she was terrified of being around people who spoke in tongues, yet my friend convinced her to come to the Bible study to see for herself that she has nothing to fear. When his lady friend showed up at the Bible study, as soon as she walked in the front door, the Pastor began speaking in tongues very loudly with his hands high in the air, then he fell backwards to the floor, like he was doing the Nestea plunge! My friend said that even he was freaked out by the incident and when he turned around, his lady friend was running for the hills!

It was Hagin that nearly steered the whole Pentecostal Movement off course. He is the father of the prosperity gospel that gave the Pentecostal Movement a bad name.

His own take all things to Him, not seeking a video that disparages and judges.
A persons choice of material to post reveals which of the two kingdoms they serve, are we building up for His kingdom or are we tearing down for the adversary?
