Once again: I often get Tongue-Tied, when I speak: Does that count, for me speaking in Tongues? Well, one tongue, anyway.
God Took Zacharias voice away for 9 months who was John the Baptists dad,

The angel Gabriel told Zac, his wife eliz would have a baby, John the baptist. A normal conception

But he never believed because he was old.

So God tongue tied him for 9 months until John was born from Elizabeth, Maries cousin.

Eliz was. Descendant from the tribe of levi

And Mary was a descendants from the tribe of Juda.

Another one is when God silenced the false prophets of baal though Elijah 😊

Paul said Speaking in Tongues brings edification. I need God's edification daily.

So I went to this church that I was invited to and as of right now it is the only one that will be able to pick me up as I cannot drive or leave the nursing home I am trapped in well the worship is good but the thing is they were very adamant on trying to get me to speak in tongues they say that everyone is able to have the gift and apparently everyone there speaks in tongues but the thing is when they put me on the spot to speak in tongues I was praying hard but nothing came out but they were telling me to keep going but and that I nbeed to want it bad enough well in the end I told them I cannot do it and I want the real thing I can't force it.

They still wanted me to and they even had their hands on me and were speaking in another language but in the end I told them I am done I just cannot do it in fact all it did was drain me.

I admit I was kind of sad and discouraged as I was hoping I could speak in tongues but the thing is firstly they were all faking it I have been in front of actual tongues before and all they were doing were faking it secondly I just couldn't muster it or have it naturally flow out of me and their laying of hands had no power to it nothing at all

Well I came home and still discouraged began thinking about it and talking to God and I came to the conclusion that what they were doing was wrong. they wanted me to speak tongues on their terms not God's if I ever do speak in tongues it will be when God leads me to not when they want me to and it will come naturally and flow like a river
Another thing is that I may not have the gift period even though they say everyone can have it but when I asked them where does the bible say that anyone can have it they didn't really have an answer they just said the bible indicates that the gift is for everyone but said they would have to find the verse to support it
I am going back next sunday and they likely will try to get me to do it again but doesn't it seem off ? in fact is there any scripture at all to support their claims? as a matter of fact I am pretty sure there is a scripture that outright denies it isn't there?

Didn't read any of the reply's. I was 16 and one night in this bible study asked if I wanted the holy Spirit. Now this was in the late 70's. So is of God so I said yes. I sat in this chair people in the bible study around me and he just reads only scriptures says nothing else as in "what that means/What Jesus was really saying". Just read them then asked me again if I wanted the holy Spirit I said yes. He prays one of the shortest prayers I have ever heard and stopped said "thats it you got it".

I thought what nothing happened no one said a word. I get up the moment I sat down BAM tongues just came out. I am a real example of what happens today in Gods word. See if we read Luke 11:13 and we believe God said that like He did with John 3:16-17. He said HE will give the holy Spirit to them that ask. So can He lie? No... faith this what that bible study had. If God said it.. no matter what you see or feel if you asked GOD for what He already promised to us believers that ask.. you do not ever be it a min or month or a year (my mom took her one year before she could pray in the spirit.. filled the moment she asked). God can't lie.. I don't agree with trying to make someone talk in Tongues or trying to force them.

What you do is.. know He heard you know He gave the holy Spirit to you... don't get stuck on speaking in tongues.. you asked He gave now no matter who you feel or see or in this hear ... know thank Him for doing it.. and it will just happen when you do not even think about it. So praise Him.. for this.. worship Him... we walk by faith... things hopped for the evidence of things not seen. We live by faith and faith works by love.

ok but hat not what Paul's said.
I'm shocked you would say that. I understand spiritual discernment is necessary to comprehend the meaning of some scriptures; however, that is not the case regarding 1 Cor. 14:2.

Paul's exact words: "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."

finish the text. Discernment is need for all scriptures not just some. I f you stop at verse 2 of chapter 14 of 1corthians. You miss what Paul said about when there is no interpretation of an unknown tongue. it is speaking to GOD and no one understands it is mysteries.

Yet Paul tell us that prophesying is more effective than tongues "UNLESS THERE IS AN INTERPRETATION" seen in verse Five.
IF you only read verse 2 you would think there is no way to understand the gift of Tongues at all. That is not true as in chapter 12

tongues and interpretation of tongues is listed. 1cor 12:10 Paul went on to say also Those who speak pray that they may interpret

1cor 14:14. None of the context could be understood without all three Chapters. As Paul did not write his letter in chapter's and verses. That was added later.

Your comments do not change the fact that no man understands what is said to God when speaking in tongues. The speaker doesn't even know what they've said. That's what is meant by the speaker speaks mysteries. And the person used in the gift of interpretation does not know what was said either. The interpretation originates and miraculously flows directly from the indwelling Spirit of God. Man's only involvement is a willingness to give God access to their vocal cords; and God "consumes the sacrifice" in order to edify others.

lol ok the fact is not what I said but what the three chapters say. Praying that you interpret is an instruction from the word of GOD and is also a gift that edifies others.

Either speaking in tongues was the miraculous ability to be able to speak in a known language (Acts 2:4-11), or it was the miraculous ability to speak gibberish jibber jabber. They can’t be both, for what purpose would speaking gibberish jibber jabber be? And who could interpret such (1 Cor. 14:28)? You can’t. But you can a known language that might have been “unknown” to the listener who heard it.

Again human reasoning trying to explain a supernatural action. The Holy Spirit is the distributor of all Gifts including those of what is known as the five fold ministries in Eph 4:7-13.

Unless you know all languages there would be many as you would think to be gibberish, jibber jabber.
Now if the tongues of Acts 2 are they something as what we see in Acts 10, 11 and 19 which none of the text or verses states they were speaking in known languages as recoded in Act chapter 2. furthermore 1cor chapter 12 through 14 tell us those who speak in tongues speak to God for no man understands them.

Either all tongues are known languages as seen in Acts 2 or they are also unknown tongues but to GOD. which are two types of manifestations of a gift recorded and instructed in the book of Acts and 1corthians chapter 12 through 14.
And Ephesians 4:7:13. As long as the Church is alive the Holy Spirit will be with them, where Christ is the Head.
That has not changed. Same Holy Spirit in the Old Testament came upon those and they did exploits of GOD.
Joel Prophesied This Same Spirit will come upon all flesh. Not just kings, prophets, priest and judges.
Jesus said this same Holy Spirt in John chapter 14

would be with us and in us. And would come upon us.

Three application of the Holy Spirit on the believer.

Paul said those who speak in tongues edify themselves unless there is an interpretation that all may be edified. 1cor chapter 14.

The Holy Spirit is God who doesn't change in the Old and in the New Testament and the same today according to word of GOD

What’s the purpose of interpreting jibber jabber?
