So, were those wars just or not?
The cause of defending freedom to worship God and witness for Christ was just,
but the methods were stupid to the point of sinfulness, which is why we wish for mulligans.

That's not the correct criteria for just war.The cause of defending freedom to worship God and witness for Christ was just,
You can never just give a simple answer. The war was just or it wasn't.but the methods were stupid to the point of sinfulness, which is why we wish for mulligans.

This one is, The war was just, or the war was not just. You equivocate.Life is rarely simple; many choices are not binary.

Take a stand. WWII was a just war. Yes or no. Pro tip: It was a just war.You think post #699 was equivocating?!
The wars it cited were just causes but unjustly conducted.
If I were in charge (per the mulligans I mentioned) we would have had a tenth of the cost in money and American casualties.

I knew you wouldn't. Grace and Peace.I took my stand in post #699.
What is your stand regarding the other wars it cited?

There are no mulligans in war. It's not golf.Okay, thanks for your list. I agree that the U.S. cause was just in all of the wars, but I would include the American Revolution
and Iraq War.
However, I disagree with your opinion that Matt. 5:37 applies to this topic, because it obviously refers to not swearing oaths.
If you can bring yourself to agree with that interpretation, then perhaps you would agree with my mulligans, because the ways
the wars were waged were unjust, resulting in many more deaths (especially of the good guys) than they should have due to the apparent fact that those in charge did not interpret Matt. 22:39 as meaning "love they soldier as thyself".
Japanese internment was evil, but that didn't make WWII unjust. Apples vs. Oranges.Okay, thanks for your list. I agree that the U.S. cause was just in all of the wars, but I would include the American Revolution
and Iraq War.

War strategy is a completely different discussion.Yes, I just mention mulligans as a way of saying why I think the war was stupidly and unjustly waged.
War strategy is a completely different discussion.
No it's really doesn't.Strategy determines whether war is waged justly.
You continue to use that word incorrectly.which is described in the mulligans.
No it's really doesn't.

Yes, I know, you use the word incorrectly. That's not what it means.I use "mulligan" creatively to mean "correction for stupidity".![]()

Just War is or isn't. There are strategies and actions that can be just or unjust during that war, but that does not change whether the reason for entering the war was just or unjust. If you conflate those it just confuses things. It would be better to be clear and separate them.
