It is never a teaching of God through Jesus and His disciples to save themselves but to labor for the sake of those who would be saved through FAITH in Christ for the glory of God.
The body of Christ is led by the Spirit to do what the Head commands them to do. The Lord is the Spirit.
We work not for our own benefit but for the benefit of other people.
It is God's work to save His people.
We are His fellow workers and instruments of His righteousness.
We are the good and faithful servants of God who obey His commands and therefore bear fruit that will last.
A dead tree will not bear fruit and is cut down and thrown into the fire...just as the body without the spirit is dead, faith without works is dead also.
"REMAIN IN HIM AND HE WILL REMAIN IN YOU."
...You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. DO NOT BE ARROGANT, BUT BE AFRAID. PennEd wrote the Gospel clearly, as outlined in scripture, completely apart from any denomination, you are the one with a denominational doctrine... the Catholic doctrine.
You are going against confessing your sins to God and repenting of them, and calling on him.
You don't feel any shame?
