It was James who said. "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."
Sure......Lust when it CONCIEVES BRINGS FORTH SIN.....and it seems that a man that LUSTS after a woman has allowed it to concieve.....I can look at a woman and think she is smokin hot but that does not mean i want to have sex with her...and there is a difference.....David looked down upon Bathsheba, thought she was hot and let lust concieve....took her and we all know the end result.
Genesis 32 takes place with Jacob worrying over meeting with Esau, who he's sure is going to kill him. he runs into angels on the road, and sees what he calls 'God's camp' -- but he calls the place "two camps" -- he doesn't camp with God. he feels unworthy. unworthy of God, unworthy of Esau.
he looks to both of them for mercy. he boasts of nothing except God's faithfulness to him - not even that is boasting; he says he is unworthy of it.
and it says, this man overcame
what is it then, to "overcome" ? people always say it's to do with works. i'm not so sure. the only 'works' i see in this chapter are Jacob sending Esau gifts, out of the blessings God had given him.

No worries Peter....I have trusted Jesus by faith and been born from above.......your use of verbiage is a sure tell....especially the way you spell a few particular words!!
Consider the temptations of Jesus of Nazareth after His baptism by John, Matthew4:1. The devil tempted Jesus 4 times in the wilderness and He did not sin once. If Jesus did sin just one time He would have lost His credentials as the Messiah, but praise God He did not.
And consider this Jesus is God and God cannot sin. Even when we are going through a bible study it is good to approach a study by asking questions and praying for a teachable heart. When the bible is interpreted correctly you will have a correct application. If your interpretation is incorrect so will be "all" of our applications such as, did Jesus ever sin.
Right interpretation = right conclusions. Blue_Lady you get my okay over here

I just want to add....JESUS ENDURED 40 DAYS OF TEMPTATION in the wildrerness.....it was after the 40 days we read about the account of the bread, who he is and the kingdoms of the world being offered....we have no idea of all that he endured during the 40 days other than the fact that he was tempted in ALL POINTS AS WE ARE TEMPTED.....Jesus and Adam were identical in flesh and had the ability to sin....obviously the difference...Adam gave in and sinned....Jesus held strong and did not sin.....the 1st and 2nd Adams......One brought sin...the other brought redemption......

I Hope you are not telling the congregations of believers to cease in good works. Never are we to dissuade Faith in good works.

I have personally met many a humble persons that have helped me with needs.
It has only been the haughty and arrogant that have turned away when i asked for help with anything including basic necessities. There have even been times where when downtrodden ive even been further beaten by the proud and arrogant.
Even so ive boasted in Christ, that i was counseled to no longer associate with such people. Even if they were my own kin.
The works of kindness ive seen from strangers is as the Lord spoke of as salt of the earth. They see the need and offer a solution.
No matter the circumstance, everyone in Christ should be caring for one another like this.
Carrying on in fruitless discussion about the minutia of speech to justify not doing good works is the enemy sowing tares while a person sleeps in complacency. Similar to the man who would offer prayer instead of water; prayer and water instead of bread;
prayer, water and bread instead of clothing; prayer, water, bread, clothing instead of shelter.
Ive heard what the tares say.

I read what she wrote......and yet the verbiage is clear...lust when it concieves BRINGS FORTH SIN......so my question remains....is lust in and if itself sin? According to the above the sin comes when lust is allowed to concieve.....just saying...and obviously I do no believe Jesus sinned.....
Sometimes i wonder how this can even be a debate when the book of Romans exists??

And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

They do say that people fall away from faith, which those of us who truly do have faith, find hard to fathom. It seems they see religious but lost people walk away from religion, and think that the unsaved were saved and then lost their salvation, whereas we do not believe such people were saved to begin with.
It is possible and the experience of many, actually, that being brought up in a religious household turned one off the legalism apparent therein, and people have walked away from that, only to be called back at some later point in their life, perhaps while they are seeking the Truth about life, the universe, and everything, including Jesus Christ
That was certainly my experience: when I went looking for an understanding of Who Jesus was, God showed me in a very powerful way. However, even at that point in my life, I was not ready to accept that God and Jesus and the Bible etc were true. I went to church sporadically over the years, but did not come to believe until many years later.

So true, I do think as someone once said a while ago there is a bit of a hidden or not so hidden agenda to get people going.
