To me the Jubilee was a National Reset.. If a person became overly indebted their debt was forgiven. If they lost their family land that land would be restored to them.. It was a chance to start again and get right what one had got wrong in the last 50 years.. I think the Jubilee was one of the main reasons why Israel became the richest nation in that part of the world.. People who had burnt themselves in their lives and had learned a bitter lesson would strive to succeed way harder and would avoid the mistakes they made in the former 49 years..

I agree. I would love a "Jubilee Reset"! Some may think people would take advantage of it but, it's for 50 years!!! That means, a person only gets 1 Jubilee during their lifetime....

Hmmm.... are you referring to the baby that died? I did not realize it was a boy or his name...

Great question! I shall have to go back and read about that!

King Solomon had an elder Brother, What was His name?

Is it possible that Solomon's elder brother from David and Bathseba that died was named.... Jedidiah?

2 Samuel 12:24-25 - King James Version

24 And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the Lord loved him.

25 And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the Lord.

The baby boy died on the 7th day.... usually, a baby boy is circumcised on the 8th day and his name then given... so, the scriptures only refer to the baby boy as son or child.... I can see now, that David probably named the boy... Jedidiah.

Those are the Sabbaths that God told the Hebrews to observe. Like we have the weekly Sabbaths and the Sabbatical years to observe which during this time, we must forgive someone's debts. But then there's the 7th Sabbatical year (The Jubilee) which during this year all things must be forgiven including Barabbas. And then there's the 7th Jubilee (Highest Sabbath) which it happens every 350 years. During these seven years God intervenes and make sure that all debts and slaves are freed that no work was to be done during this period. Like when the Hebrews were set free on this Sabbath. But then they were tested in the wilderness for 10 years, and then God judge them to stay in the wilderness for 40 years which it was prophesied to Abraham that his descendants will be in a foreign land for 400 years and then they'll enter the promise land.
Sone people think that it's impossible for them not to work for these seven years during the Highest Sabbath. But Joseph and Moses showed them when they were brought to Egypt during the seven years of famine the Hebrews didn't work, and Moses showed us during the Exodus in the wilderness they didn't farm.

These were the Sabbaths that told them what time of the season they were in. But they stopped observing them during the time of Jesus except for John knew what time it was. it was the highest of them all, the 7th 350 years Highest Sabbath, that it was judgement day.
But the people at the time didn't like the tax collectors because they didn't follow these Sabbaths of forgiven one's debts. But the people only observed that Sabbath.

Jesus was mad that they didn't keep up with the Sabbaths.

Matthew 16:3
and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

You can still see God's hand at work. like when the Jews were released from captivity in the late 80s. Like during Operation Moses, some of the Jews were released but it was stopped. And 6 years of negotiations and during the 7th year they were released during Operation Solomon.

Mark's interpretation of his Sabbaths may be correct, or the Jews that were released Sabbaths maybe the true Sabbaths

King David judged himself for killing Uriah. He told Nathan that the evildoer must pay four times for what he had done. And so, Daivid's newborn and two of his sons died and his daughter was raped by her brother. Four things had happened to David.

God did say He'll make judges out of us all.
And so, our best bet is not to judge anyone.

2 Samuel 12:6
He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.”

I don't think scripture tells us. It's possible it was Shimea, Shobab, or Nathan, but scripture doesn't say these were older than Solomon?

1 Chronicles 3:1 - 5
Now these were the sons of David, which were born unto him in Hebron; the firstborn Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second Daniel, of Abigail the Carmelitess:
The third, Absalom the son of Maachah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur: the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith:
The fifth, Shephatiah of Abital: the sixth, Ithream by Eglah his wife.
These six were born unto him in Hebron; and there he reigned seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years.
And these were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shimea, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four, of Bathshua the daughter of Ammiel:

The baby boy died on the 7th day.... usually, a baby boy is circumcised on the 8th day and his name then given... so, the scriptures only refer to the baby boy as son or child.... I can see now, that David probably named the boy... Jedidiah.
I think it was Nathan or David who called Solomon Jedidiah, rather than this being the older son?

As you explained, because baby boys are circumcised on the 8th day and named after this, and as this child died on the 7th day (presumably therefore in a state of uncircumcision), he may not have even been given a name - cut off from his people (as per Genesis 17)? The innocent child dying for the sin of David and Bathsheba is a shadow of what Christ would do for us.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Genesis 17:14
And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

@Adstar - we give up! What is the name of King Solomon's elder brother? ...and please provide Bible verses for your answer.

Sorry i have not been online for a few days. :giggle:

This is the scripture i got the Elder Brother of King Solomon from..

(1 Kings 2:19-22) "¶ Bath–sheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand. {20} Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; I pray thee, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay. {21} And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife. {22} And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah."

So according to the Above passage Adonijah was the Elder Brother of King Solomon..

ahh I should have played earlier, for I know the story well, as 1st & 2nd Samuel are probably my favourite books,,, ( not that I am good at Bible trivia in general)

Adonijah was king for a moment, but not by king David, or Nathan the prophet I believe. then it was told king David and he made Solomon king that day and had him ride his mule. All that supported Adonijah fled in fear as they heard. I believe even king Davids captain of the guard was involved with Adonijah ( all from memory if I messed up)

Adonijah after he was spared by king Solomon, later asked for
Abishag, for she used to care for king David in his old age. When a young virgin was sought for him because he was old and could draw no heat, yet king David never went into unto her.

Adonijah it seems was making another attempt to be king, in attempts to usurp king Solomon, by acquiring Abishag as his wife, and gain support of the people, Adonijah was put to death by king Solomon as evil was found in Adonijah, king Solomon went on to establish his kingdom with a few more acts of putting down rebellion.

ok I will pose two questions

1st) when David went and asked and received the show bread from the priests and also took the sword of Goliath when he was fleeing from king Saul, how did King Saul respond when he heard the news?

2nd) Johnathan's son Mephibosheth who was lame on his feet, after King David had restored all his lands to him, as king David wanted to show kindness to the household of Johnathon (Sauls son of course whom David loved), later were taken away by King David, when King David ran from Absalom, or more accurately was returning after fleeing from Absalom. why did king David take away his lands that he earlier restored?

all from memory, I only looked up the spelling of the two names..haha

I did not realize this has been going on for years, too funny

I had two more questions on my mind, maybe get this out of my system if anyone is interested, I have no idea if these questions have been asked, yet here goes, all from memory

1) Balim the prophet that G-D opened up the mouth of the donkey to speak to him, before he unsuccessful tried to bring a curse upon Israel, or at least was inquiring. It seems he leaves unsuccessful; yet later we hear about his wages of unrighteousness, what were his wages of unrighteousness?
1b) how did Balim die?

2) in the Reign of king Saul, The Bible tells king Saul destroyed all the soothsayers, diviners ( not sure if these are proper terms), mediums (is the term I am most familiar) from off the land. The Bible tells us under his Reign there was at least one left in the land, who sought her counsel?
2b) and what was asked of her?

2) King Saul sought her Counsel..

(1 Samuel 28:7) "¶ Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor."

2)b .. King Saul wanted to bring up Samuel from the dead to speak to him..

(1 Samuel 28:10-11) "And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. {11} Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel."

1b) how did Balim die?

The Prophet was called Balaam..

Balaam advised King Balak that the only way he would be able to defeat the Hebrews was to break their union with God through tempting the Hebrews to break the Laws of the covenant.. So King Balak arrainged for his young woman to party with the Hebrew men and ommit Adultry with them.. This caused God to inflict Israel with a terrible plauge that killed many Hebrew men..

(Numbers 31:16) "Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD."

How did Balaam die?
Balaam was slain by the sword..

(Numbers 31:7-8) "And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males. {8} And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword."

did you see my 1st two questions, perhaps a clean sweep?
