Gideon was tasked by God to attack the Midianites, but the LORD wanted to lower the numbers of the Hebrew warriors that would attack the Midianites so as to make sure the credit of the victory would go to The LORD and not to Gideon and his troops.. The LORD set a test at the well of Harod.. And after this test 300 troops where selected to battle the Midianites with Gideon..
What did the 300 selected warriors do at the well of Harod that caused them to be selected?

the text says that all that laid on their belly and drank I believe these were told to return home, & the ones that kneeled down and brought the water to their mouth and drank he kept 300.
I have heard it said these were more prepared for battle as they went upon one knee and still able to look around for danger.
yet as I said, I sometimes get this confused G-D might of kept the the ones that laid on their bellies and drank, unprepared for battle, this may have been the 300
As The Battle was the LORDS, as we read further in the text, That G-D had put the Fear of Gideon in the camp, G-D has them destroy each other, as Gideon and the 300 surround the camp at night. From up on a hill as I remember, with lanterns and they declare something like the Sword of THE LORD & Gideon.

I was thinking that if I go from memory, then the poster of the question can say right or wrong, once I look up the scripture pretty hard to get it wrong...

Well it is not my personal rule.. I think it is the rule because they want other people to be able to go into their Bibles and read the accounts.. It is to encourage people to read the Bible.. Of course people who have read the Bible and have been blessed by God to have great memories can simply answer the question without opening a Bible.. But people like that are sadly a very small minority within the Christian community..
