Sure
Do you believe Jesus appeared to people in the Old Testament as the Angel of the Lord?
Sure
Correct. But that is a very special designation for Christ. It has nothing to do with the archangel Michael.
Please show scripture you are referring.
The translators of the KJV believed that Jesus appears in the OT. There is one instance of the capitalized "Son of God" in reference to a being that appeared in a furnace. This capitalization isn't included in many translations, but it shows that the conversation about OT Jesus appearances (in transfigured form) has been going on for a long time.
Whether it is the case or not, it is an interesting topic either way.
There is no question that the pre-incarnate Word of God (Jesus) appeared to men as "the Angel of the LORD" (or even "the Word of God"). Had the King James translators been more consistent in their capitalizations (in both the OT and NT), this would have been evident throughout. They even failed to capitalize "I AM" when Jesus of Nazareth literally identified Himself as the same "I AM" who appeared to Moses at the burning bush. We see in Exodus 3 that "the Angel of the LORD" is none other than "the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" who calls Himself " I AM THAT I AM" or simply "I AM" (the self-existent One).Whether it is the case or not, it is an interesting topic either way.
I leave those people in peace, but don't take them seriously. I don't know where their ideas come from. There are others I could name. Personally, I hope that time is getting short and it has been 15 or more years since I thought about Tribulation theories. I'm a peaceful spiritual maverick.
I just gave you the historical information. I am a well trained historian and researched this.
Does anyone here believe that Michael is God? I think SDA's believe that.
Not true but kinda true lol sorry I got a kick out of that... meant no disrespect.Duckybill no they do not.they had a prophet called "Ellen white"She said 1 thing that was not true. But still kind of true. That the 2 witnesses where the new an Oldtestament!
I would say and just guessing he is most likely an archangel who carried the lords name through the ot under law being this figure
“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.”
Exodus 23:20-21
I could see how one could confuse the angel representing God in the Old Testament , with God . Especially given this reference in prophecy
“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people:
and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:
and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”
Daniel 12:1 KJV
probably they haven’t seen that the law was given to the angels to ordain and most likely micheal is who carried the lord name and stood for the children of Israel they probably haven’t heard of the book of remembrance of the ot that were delivered before the destruction of Jerusalem
“Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name.”
Malachi 3:16 KJV
and aren’t seeing this deliverance before the tribulation crushed Jerusalem.
“And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”
Matthew 27:52-53 KJV
So they are tying daniels prophecy to conclude the New Testament and confusing micheal the angel over the ot with Christ Jesus the lord over all including micheal
but he definately isn’t God , he is somehow in my opinion tied in to the ot example of the truth in Christ who is no angel
“Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.”
Hebrews 1:2-6 KJV
Exodus 23
Easy-to-Read Version
”
“And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate. And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied. And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.”
Leviticus 26:15-33 KJV
isreal chose the curse and desolation of the promised land because when they entered it was under this pre ordination
“A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.”
Deuteronomy 11:27-28 KJV
and this is what they continually did when they entered after Abraham’s promise was given and fulfilled they then chose the cirse over many many generations this was the children of Israel
“And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim, and Ashtoreth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the Lord, and served not him. And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.
And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.
Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more. Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.”
Judges 10:6-7, 10, 13-14 KJV
he repetitively repented and then saved them and the. Again they continued on following various other gods again and again and again this process happened until he determined they had broken the everlasting covenant and became a curse
“The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.”
Isaiah 24:5 KJV
which brings forth this promise of destruction of the land they made desolate the promise of total destruction of all that is and a coming forth of all that is created new
“But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
2 Peter 3:7, 10, 13 KJV
they could have blessed the land but they were born sinners and cursed it and then the sword of the covenant cursed the entire earth as it scattered Israel’s children
The key than is the 613 Laws were written for Israel under the Old Covenant. Thanks for the information.
I cant read the entire chapter of Hebrews 1 and not conclude that Christ is a Deity on a level eons beyond the angelic and arch angelic rank.
Theres a verse that speaks of Jesus announcing with the loud shout of an arch angel…. Does this make him “the” arch angel who projected the shout?
And
will there even be a “shout” or is this shout a metaphor for a possible vast and expansive angelic offensive directive in followence of orders given to him by the Deity that was awarded command of the angelic legions?
A deity sits in commanding power so that the tools of “doing” can be commanded and the deity it self does not perform.
