Isaiah 24:23
The moon will be confounded and the sun will be ashamed; for the LORD of Hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before His elders with great glory.
Isaiah 60 19
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
Dan 12:2-3
And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Then the wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever.
Matthew 13:43
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Like Awelight posted, the Messiah is the nobleman who goes away first to receive His kingdom and then to return. The people incorrectly thought the kingdom of God would be immediate. But the Messiah explains that He returns with His kingdom.
The glorious, immortal body (i.e. transfiguration) promised to the saints WILL BE the kingdom come. Until then, those who are His are now representatives of His coming kingdom.
2 Corinthians 5:20
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
[ambassador - an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country. ]
This world is the "foreign country" and we are ambassadors of the coming kingdom until the King arrives. There is a timing to the kingdom. The King arrives after the saints are persecuted by the beast.
Daniel 7:20-22
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
So this now isn't the kingdom come...though the time is fast approaching.
