For most people before becoming followers of God they are easy to describe by their mannerisms, how they talk, behave, if they drink, smoke, and many many other attributes that are easy to describe them by.

But when suddenly they notice that person is no longer being like or having those same traits but are basically the complete opposite then that becomes the Greatest Proof of Faith.

God might not have even given blessings that can be outwardly seen yet but a person becoming as opposite as the day is from the night flat out shows their beliefs have changed. And generally speaking that typically shows Faith in God.

Fair enough. It didn't come across that way. Peace. :)

I thought it was a good question in the OP but couldn't get an answer to what he thought the visible characteristics would be.

What do you think, is there any visible characteristics, and what would they be?

I wonder if they believe in faith proofing in some way

Scripture says that by their fruits you will know them. It's not hard to see the fruits of the Lord upon people. It's either there or it isnt.

For most people before becoming followers of God they are easy to describe by their mannerisms, how they talk, behave, if they drink, smoke, and many many other attributes that are easy to describe them by.

Like he said, people's mannerisms and talk and behavior will show you a lot fast. You can tell how much someone reads the Bible by how they talk! Sometimes it is not visible and sometimes it punches you in the face!

Ya that's usually what gets my attention, someone giving to someone else. When I see that I just automatically keep an eye on that person if possible. I'm always looking for givers and what motivates them.

Something else to consider. If a mature Christian is really tweaking their giving, they would be doing it in secret wherever possible. Gods word says to give money in secret, fast in secret, charity giving in secret. So if a Christian was really good, they might be hard to spot.

I know that's not necessarily a mainstream understanding, but there it is nevertheless.

This is a very good way of putting it. It doesn't matter how "sweet and magnificant" words a person utters, what matters is his/hers actions. Words are not fruits, words are just words. Look at the fruits. Totally agree.

This is not always the case though because the left says a lot of dumb words which then they follow with actions, which in turn gave us the great Donald Trump who is going to take Greenland.

Amen Brother!

I kind of hoped that this thread would be non-political.
Please discuss theologically with me.

My response is equal to yours. You said that fruits mean actions not words and i said that words match actions a lot of times as we've seen in history.
So it's very much on-point.

Is it ?

How do you interprete the words of Jesus about the fruits of the tree ?

As actions.
But actions are sometimes related to words like i said.

For example, the fruits can be love, peace, patience, faithfulness and when you follow up with those then it matches your words.
But if you don't follow up with those then it's just words.

But a lot of times, like i said, people usually match their words with their actions.

Words alone still very much reveal character. and so character will or will not have fruit. A bad tree can not bear good fruit but otoh, everyone has a bad day sometimes and it's meaningless. Jesus does not expect perfection from us, pnly to get back up and run back to Him for Help Lord!!

That's why King David was a man after God's own heart. Because he didn't run from God. He said, Lord take not thy Holy Spirit from me! (And He Didn't!)

I don't know about anyone else, but that's my greatest fear. That I'll wake up one day and it will be gone.

But... why might it be gone .... ?

Because I'm not worthy to have it. The first year I kept waiting for it to go away, it never did. After that I didn't think about it all day long like the first year. Now 38 years later, it's such a part of me now I hardly think about it, and that scares me that I might be taking it for granted.

OK. I appreciate your honesty.
