The way God chooses has everything to do with election. I agree it is for His people.

Jesus is said to be tempted in all points, like we are...Hebrews 4:15. If temptation was sinful, Jesus must have sinned. Since this is clearly not so, temptation itself is not a sin. Acting on a temptation is sin.
The passage actually says that God chose Israel out of all the nations on earth to be His prized possession. This alone establishes the questions concerning nations pertinent.
Please stay on topic. God chose Israel. We have a point of agreement. In the same passage in Deuteronomy 7, God gives the reason He chose them. What is the reason given?
Going off point again. Did God choose Israel? Did He choose Israel because of anything that was true of them? Did He choose them because He wanted to manifest His love to them? Did God force Israel to be His people?
