Holy Reverence and the 'man Upstairs'?

But is somebody who talks about almighty God in derogatory terms like "The Man Upstairs" really acknowledging God?

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Not really. The Church of England is Calvinist in its doctrine according to the 39 Articles, and it certainly practices infant baptism.

    Understanding God’s election

How about this from Romans: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Ro 5:8 NKJV)

    The Error of KJV-Onlyism

Yes, I agree. I know we can look up unknown words to find their meaning, but we first need to recognise that they are unknown. What I mean is this: Some words used in the KJV are still in use todays, but with a completely different meaning to what they have in the KJV. Just a few examples@...

    Baptized more than once ?

Yes, I would say the same. It was called baptism when, as a baby, I had the sign of the cross made on my little forehead by the vicar, with promises made on my behalf by so-called "godparents". When I was converted, I joined a Baptist church, and was baptized by immersion as a believer.

    Passover is coming

According to the New Testament Christ Himself is the Passover for Christians: “Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.” (1Co 5:7 NKJV)

    Understanding God’s election

Not so. For example: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having...

Does Deuteronomy 4:19 teach God gave the nations false gods?

I don't believe that God gave the nations false gods. “"And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under the...

    Understanding God’s election

God's election or choosing nothing to do with salvation? Not according to Paul writing to Christians at Ephesus: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the...

Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

Thanks. I have seen posts discussing what a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ should be called, but not name-calling in any derogatory sense.

Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

I agree. We are told: “And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.” (Ac 11:26 NKJV)

Will The Actual Calvinists Here Please Stand Up?

TULIP was as far as I know not coined by Calvin. It works in English, and Calvin was French by birth. He did write Five Points, but they were in response to the five points of Arminius, so they were never intended to be a complete statement of faith, just responses to the five points Arminius...

Where do you read that in the bible? (Sorry, I have just realised that you were referring to a poster here, not the biblical character!)

    Random Questions; Bible-based answers

I tend to agree with that final point, simply because the bible as you say makes no mention of additional children coming out of Egypt with Mary, Joseph and Jesus.

    Random Questions; Bible-based answers

No I don't. How can a spiritual Being have sexual intercourse, a physical thing? I am not a Roman Catholic, and I certainly don't believe that Mary was conceived immaculately. (It is the conception of Mary that Roman Catholics believe was "immaculate".) Luke 3:23 is part of a genealogy...

    What is a church?

A secular dictionary meaning. What is far more important is what the bible means by the word "church".

    What is a church?

Not according to the bible. We never find the word "church" used in the bible to mean a building where Christians meet for worship.

    Random Questions; Bible-based answers

Mary in the bible is called the mother of Jesus. Although Jesus is fully divine, Mary is never called "Mother of God" in the bible. Joseph was the legal father of Jesus but not His biological Father: “Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed)...
