Genesis 1:8 states, "God called the firmament Heaven." Verses 14-17 declare that God made lights and stars in the heaven, and verse 20 adds that fowl fly in the firmament of heaven. So... the firmament is called Heaven, and that's where the birds fly, and where the sun, moon, and stars are. Are...

Yes... several, and my social circle is pretty small. And? What of it? You don't drink? Fine. You have reasons for not drinking? Fine. That's for you. You cannot make an airtight case from Scripture for everyone to do as you do, so stop trying. You won't convince those of us who read all of...

That is different for different people, and is conditioned by a wide variety of other factors. By the way, just because you don't know anyone who can stop at one drink, it doesn't mean there aren't such people. Your ignorance of the matter is neither normative nor instructive.

What is your motivation for tithing?

See my post: tithing was not "instituted" before the Law, and there is no record that Jacob ever paid tithes. No, it just demonstrates a lack of understanding of Scripture. Scripture does not compel, require, command, teach, counsel, suggest, or even hint that Christians are to "tithe". It...

From that I would conclude that you don't read too well, and you don't relate too well either. Instead of getting your knickers in a twist, read more carefully. You are making an argument based on the 400-year-old translation of a Latin translation of a Hebrew word. "Firmament" is not a word...

The Holy Trinity in the first three verses of the Bible!

Actually, you don’t. You believe it says things that it simply does not say. The context tells you that Genesis 1:3 is talking about physical light only, and says nothing about Christ. Christ was never ‘separated from darkness’… anywhere in Scripture.

Welcome to CC… You are trying to make a case based on a 400-year-old translation, using a modern understanding of the words. That’s subject to error. It is better to go to the original language to determine what the words meant in their original context. I would also recommend using a modern...

What is your motivation for tithing?

Hence my post #2. When people claim that tithing is biblical, I don’t disagree. However, I respond that for Christians, tithing is not biblically sound. :)

No source? Self-evident? Insulting implication? Not gonna fly. Take a class, or read a book. I recommend ‘Living by the Book’ by Howard and William Hendricks… and a good dose of humility.
