What is the point in being a prophet?

You say I accused you of saying things you didn’t say, and then did exactly the same thing to me. I asked you to rephrase; you didn’t. I asked you what you meant; you provided a convoluted non-explanation. I said ‘It appears that…’ not ‘You said’. I have given you plenty of opportunities to...

    Messiah 2030

I wonder if the creators of the video will have the integrity to recant publicly in 2031. Despite the popularity of setting dates, recanting after the proposed dates for one's error isn't nearly as popular.

True Worshipers Will Worship In Spirit And In Truth

Walter, with respect, your threads might fit better in the Blog section. It appears that you are essentially sharing a devotional, not attempting to start a conversation on a topic. It's not that there is anything inherently wrong with your approach, but there is a more appropriate venue.

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

Are you claiming that you can write whatever you like as long as your main point is sound? That isn't going to fly with me... or with many others. For a believer, marrying an unbeliever is foolish, period. It doesn't guarantee that the marriage will fail, or even be substantially unpleasant...

What is the point in being a prophet?

This, specifically: "the gift of prophecy in the NT refers mainly to expounding on the revealed word of God of which, we have plenty. " Frankly, I don't see any support in the NT for your claim. I don't see any examples in the NT of "expounding on the revealed [written] word of God" being...

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

I suspect you are using the word ‘sanctified’ incorrectly. In regard to a marriage between a saved person and an unsaved person. Firstly, that’s not what the Scripture says, and secondly, the word literally means ‘set apart’, not ‘made all good’.

Where is John the Apostle now?

Okay, dude... whatever. By the way, what colour is the sky in your world?

What is the point in being a prophet?

I don't necessarily disagree with what you've written here, but I also don't think that it supports your earlier assertion... either the way I read it or the way you wrote it. It's not a big deal; I was just wondering if you had clear biblical support for your claim.

What is the point in being a prophet?

Here's how I read your words: "The gift of prophecy in the NT refers mainly to expounding on the written word of God (whatever was then available, which was primarily the OT). I am unaware of a single case of that. Every case I can think of is God speaking something new and specific, such as...

    Bread used for Communion

Jesus didn't say, "I am the unleavened bread of life". The gospel writers and Paul didn't mention that the bread at the last supper was unleavened. I'm quite certain that if God were concerned about the matter, He would have specified.

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

I disagree. The way you are putting it is that the only (or primary) reason for marriage is so that people can avoid fornication. The full counsel of Scripture doesn't present marriage that way. The fact that God appointed the first marriage before the first human sin renders your position...

Where is John the Apostle now?

This thread exemplifies the practice of sticking one's fingers in one's ears and yelling "Blah Blah Blah!" when others offer sound correction. Proverbs has a word for people who do this.

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

That doesn't say that the reason for marriage is to avoid fornication. It says that marriage is the solution to the problem of fornication.

Honest question....why don't churches teach the best way to avoid fornication is to get married?

Wrong. The reason for marriage is not "to control the sexual desires"; rather, marriage is given by God as the appropriate venue for the expression of sexual desires (among its other purposes). For the believer (that is the context of this discussion, isn't it?) the fruit of the Holy Spirit is...

How many times do we forgive?

Always forgive, but for repeated or serious offenders, create boundaries that limit the impact of their actions.

What is the point in being a prophet?

Perhaps you could rephrase your assertion, because as I read it, I am not aware of a single case in Scripture that supports it.
