    Once saved always saved?

Maybe he is. However "simple" the truth of the words and their implications may be, if the truth of them it not properly transmitted and received, it can lead to dangerous ends.

    Trinity or Unity

First - I don't have a Bible with me at the moment, so it's possible I'll make mistakes. You say the unforgivable sin is a life-long denial of Christ. How do you square that with Jesus saying "Anyone who 'speaks a word against'"...? That doesn't sound like a life-long rejection to me.

    Once saved always saved?

I think there's a great possibility of confusion in words like faith, believe, especially in this biblical context. I used to believe "faith" was synonymous with "belief". Now I'm far from sure. "Believing in/ on Jesus" is open to misinterpretation, as I've pointed out. Got to go again...

    Once saved always saved?

Re. your first line - I was trying to gain overall clarity on the topic by addressing the stance taken by the poster I was addressing.

?? Don't know what to make of that. In any case - Would you agree or disagree with my "dangerous" point?

Thanks for you reply. I've got to go to get my bus now - I'll get back later.

    Once saved always saved?

It could be extremely dangerous if someone is taught by someone evangelising, that all someone has to do to be saved is believe (as in the sense of common parlance) that Jesus is the Savior and died for the sins of the world, if (and I emphasise "if") more is actually required. Such a person...

    Once saved always saved?

I don't want to over-labor the point, but in an attempt to understand what you believe is necessary to be saved, would YOU like to state it clearly? If you've previously done so, or deem it to have been sufficiently covered, I understand and don't want to pressure you into an inconvenience...

    Once saved always saved?

I'm not totally happy with that phrase I used, but I was trying to accurately represent some posters' belief of what needs to be saved - ie - not just believe in the sense I've often mentioned (simply believing that Jesus is the Savior and died for people's sins), but something more. I don't...

    Once saved always saved?

Would you say, then, that those who evangelise (eg - on the street) are often deficient in expressing the need for stating the need for (adherence to the cause of Christ) in the way you described it? In my experience, it's usually presented as "believe you are a sinner and Jesus died and paid...

    Once saved always saved?

I tend to agree, although I have heard it taken to be literal. I tend to think it means "If even something close to your core (a deeply held belief, or something you deeply care about, the importance of which is indicated by the strength of the metaphor used) is marring your adherence to...

    Once saved always saved?

One thing that comes up in all this is the issue of whether one lose salvation. I've used this hypothetical account before, but I think it's appropriate to re-state it. Suppose there's a man who's got a bad attitude and hates hearing that he's a sinner and beholden to God. Although he...

    Trinity or Unity

Thanks , I've come across Isaiah 9:6 before and in isolation it does seem to refer to Jesus. Again, in Colossians, depending on translation, it seems to say Jesus is part of the Godhead

Thanks for responding. "Anyone needing the title of a denomination...". Does that mean the Baptists, Catholics, Pentecostals, etc. are 'up the creek'?

    Trinity or Unity

BTW - I've said it a few times before, but I want to make it understood that, although I try to direct things to the right place and person, things sometimes go astray. Sorry about this. It may well be as frustrating for others as it is for me.

    Trinity or Unity

Even 'though it's mysterious (at least to me), I tend to think these kinds of texts point to the idea that Jesus is God. But I need to consider it in light of other biblical things.

    Trinity or Unity

If you're referring to the inclusion of the "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" piece rather than the command to evangelise, I see no reason to jump to the conclusion that these are the same, simply from anything in THAT verse.

    Posting problems

I guess in that sense, it is. California seems to be thought of as a "utopia" by some, but it does have its negative side, with natural problems, such as the San Andreas fault. Specifically, I'm from Wales, UK.
