    Predestination is misunderstood...

Charles Spurgeon's Morning and Evening writing seemed to go well with the topic of Predestination. Evening for 2/27 "Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" Micah 5:2 The Lord Jesus had goings forth for his people as their representative before the throne, long before they...

Did Jesus Die on The Cross for The Just/Elect/Saved Whose Names Are Written in The Book of Life OR

No, you are not correct! Romans 9:15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

Did Jesus Die on The Cross for The Just/Elect/Saved Whose Names Are Written in The Book of Life OR

God will have mercy on His people, but would never ask His only son to suffer and bleed for those that He does not love!

    Predestination is misunderstood...

You are correct! When I became a believer, I believed in God, (that was not the problem), it was more of a trust issue that I had. I felt that I was so vile that God would never take me to himself, that I was beyond saving. When I thought back on my life, I knew that I had broken every law...

    Salvation....

Even though I am the least of God's saints, my prayers for your family will be presented to God!

    Predestination is misunderstood...

I do not think grace is what changes you. I believe that it is the death and resurrection of Christ along with the indwelling of the Spirit which works a miracle, causing you to believe. However, this is given to God's elect by grace “it is undeserved”.

    Predestination is misunderstood...

Don't get me wrong! I take no credit in the fact that I was saved, as in "a work". God gets all the glory! I am only saying that the order in which it took place seemed like my heart being changed came first, enabling me to believe. Don't get me wrong! I take no credit in the fact that I was...

    Predestination is misunderstood...

It seems to me that being saved is a different experience for each person. When you talk to someone who was a covenant child and ask them “When did you become a believer?”, most of the time the answer will be “I do not remember a time when I was not a believer”. I honestly believe that this...

    How to Fix?

In the past I always had trouble remembering all my passwords. Then I changed them all to "incorrect". Now when I don't type it right, I see the message - Your password is incorrect!

    Time

This was always one of my favorite poems concerning how time slips away and remembering a time long ago.

    Predestination is misunderstood...

I am stunned with all the rambling that you just went through! Please highlight the portion of my post that mentioned WORKS in any way, shape, or form! Maybe you are saying the early reformers thought that works were needed for salvation. If so, then you need to read what they have to say...

Can anyone else define these terms as they are used in the Bible?

Ha! I forgot that I posted on this thread. Too many differences with person who created this topic.

    Predestination is misunderstood...

I'm not sure where this thread is going. Early on, post #8 “God chose us out from all those whom He knew would believe”, seemed to take grace out of the picture. He did not choose us because He knew that we would believe, His choice was not based on any merit in us at all. Election is not...

    Predestination is misunderstood...

You are correct. We lost our ability to believe with the fall of Adam. We will not regain the ability until we are given a new heart.

    The Security Of The Believer

Chester, you are correct. I know of no verse that states that God stood on a mountain top and proclaimed “once a person is saved, they can never be lost”.

    The Security Of The Believer

Absolutely not! It only states that God does not change. He does not do something one minute, and then say “Oops I guess I made a mistake”. Christ died for their sins! That fact will never change. Therefore, his people are secure. All scripture must be brought together to understanding it...

    The Security Of The Believer

Heb: 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. If the Father gives a person, (elect), to Christ, He dies for them, the Spirit brings them to faith; do you really think that He will ever let them go? He never changes! No, they are secure! They may stray, but He will not...

    The Security Of The Believer

Sorry for the confusion! I was replying to a much earlier post stating that scripture does not support perseverance which is not true. There is much scripture to support this. It is not true only because Calvin says so, scripture also proclaims this truth. As for free will, I would only...

    The Security Of The Believer

For Holy Scripture testifies that perseverance follows from election and is granted to the chosen by virtue of Christ’s death, resurrection, and intercession: The chosen obtained it; the others were hardened (Rom. 11:7); likewise, He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all–how...
