    Understanding God’s election

Not that difficult a question. The first is yes or no. Easy peasy. The second, connect it to salvation.

    Understanding God’s election

Did Adam have freewill before sin? Then how can you say freewill must be tied to faith?

    Understanding God’s election

Got some questions: What is the difference between selection and election? Would Isaac have been born if God doesn't intervene? Anything being taught in this? After forming the nation of Israel, God brings salvation almost exclusively to this nation, to the exclusion of almost all other...

    Understanding God’s election

So God delivering the children of Israel out of Egypt is not about salvation?

    Understanding God’s election

Didn't God act on behalf of Israel and not on behalf of the Egyptians? Are you suggesting God was in some way wrong in this?

    Understanding God’s election

All true. But then God did choose to form the nation Israel. And salvation is limited to almost exclusively that nation. Any problem with this? Also, difference between election and selection? Also, without God's intervention, would Isaac have ever been born? Any significance to this?

    Understanding God’s election

Except...the other side has made no such claim against me. They are free to do so. But I don't misrepresent their positions. I simply state what I disagree with. And that's the difference.

    Understanding God’s election

The post you quoted was not referring to you. We have different views, but you haven't misunderstood or misrepresented my positions. And people get busy and posts are missed. Not a big deal.

    Understanding God’s election

God not acting is different from God decreeing and acting. Show me from scripture what you are saying or admit it is simply your opinion.

    Understanding God’s election

I'm not a Calvinist, but if that is your view of Calvinism, then you don't rightly understand election. You make it out to be selection. That's why I asked you if you understand the difference between the two. I'm still interested in your explanation. In the meantime, do you have any problem...

    Understanding God’s election

Only 1 side is deliberately misrepresenting. There is much misunderstanding of others. That's normal. People are at different levels of knowledge, and possess bias. That's not what I'm referring to. I'm talking about those who understand exactly what you are saying and purposefully distort it.

    Understanding God’s election

I don't have a problem with those who believe differently from me. This is to be expected. But those who deliberately misrepresent another's positions are simply dishonest.

    Understanding God’s election

You are just as dishonest as she is.

    Understanding God’s election

No it's not. I just showed you why. You want it to be so badly that you have no problem deliberately and dishonesty misrepresenting both scripture and others.

    Understanding God’s election

    Show me this from scripture.

    Understanding God’s election

I'm not asking about faith. I am looking for a generic definition of freewill that we can agree upon.

    Understanding God’s election

And yet the passage you quote has men choosing life or death based on their actions. How is that faith? The Bible gives revelation progressively. This doesn't mean what is being revealed isn't already true. Salvation hasn't changed. It was always by grace through faith. It has always involved...
