    Understanding God’s election

I appreciate you taking the time to answer, but I'm not asking because I don't know the answers. I'm asking to provoke thought or understand a position someone holds better.

    Understanding God’s election

The light of the gospel is a curious phrase. Light is generally thought of as understanding spiritually. My only point earlier is that man still has natural capacities, even though they have been corrupted. Thus, the have natural understanding of things...even spiritual things.

    Understanding God’s election

    Understanding God’s election

We don't disagree about ears being given. I believe there is a supernatural hearing as well as a circumcision of the heart in salvation as part of changing an individual's inclination. But in order for someone to think something is foolishness and reject it, they have to on a human level have...

I was referring to 1 Corinthians 1:18. So how is someone referencing scripture outside of scripture?

    Understanding God’s election

This isn't exactly correct. Man has the ability to understand and believe the gospel. But...he is disinclined to do so. He understands the gospel, but rejects it because to him it is foolishness. His inability is in the area of inclination. Hence, the necessity of a new heart.
