On the other hand, sometimes you can be a lot more simple.

I found a good deal on large bags of skittles, so one night I set out a crystal bowl full of skittles, with a spoon stuck in it. The contrast of a crystal bowl, with a silver spoon, holding common skittles, appealed to me.

It was a big hit. Not the kind of thing you do every dinner, but that one time people loved it.
If I saw that bowl of skittles as a kid I might have died of happiness.

Summer BBQ with some fund raising, water fights fun for the kids (and adults if they want to), wine tasting, hot wings, burgers, hot dogs and cakes.
I'm mostly interested in the barbecue. Like, what kind? Beef? Pork? Brisket? Shoulder? Smoked? What kind of smoker? (If you say crock pot, that is NOT barbecue...) Wet sauce or dry rub?

Whatever the answer is, I'm definitely gonna have to taste test it for poison. I might have to eat it all to truly make sure it's safe. The pork is safe though. You can try it if you want.

Beef burgers and pulled pork (smoked) with relish and sweet chilli sauce.

Yeeeeeaaaaaah, that's the ticket! Pulled, not chopped.

I may have to assist Cold in testing that barbecue...

My favorite things at potluck dinners were deviled eggs, chicken, bread, beans, etc..
Well, I liked more things than I disliked.

I'm not saying I'm prophetic, but I'm pretty sure I can guess where this is going.

Cold volunteered as security to make sure no one brings banana pudding without vanilla wafers.

Now we're going to have need volunteers to keep Lynx and Cold from eating all the food under the guise of "testing" it.

Yeah, I have a feeling these two need to be sent straight to the dunk tank, or the rest of us aren't going to get any food.

Ma'am, you're interfering with an ongoing poison investigation. Please step back before I have you escorted off the premises.

I’ve been turned down for my gator stew recipe before so I don’t think I’m going to bring it to any potluck.😂
P.S. When you have a hankering to make it, do you wrestle the gator yourself?!
Yeah, I get in and chase them out of the bayou before I make a stew out of them.
@Susanna,

I changed my avatar in your honor.

Winston's new foot rest is my little pal Chompy, who was sent to me by a friend because I used to live in Florida.

My friend sent Chompy to me because I loved seeing the alligators roaming in the wild, but the tag that the little guy came with said he was a crocodile.

Since he resides in a nest of owls, I like to say that he's a "Croc-Owl-Dile" who identifies as an "Owl-I-Gator."

Like most crocs and gators, Chompy doesn't mind having a bird sitting on his back. In, fact, in the winter, Winston and the other owls band together to keep him warm.

Chompy of course would prefer NOT to be made into stew, but he was happy to hear that gators were at least acknowledged in this discussion.

With your Grandma's cat Dave as president and Winston as vice-president (joke from another thread,) I think it will work out well to have an Owl-I-Gator as their bodyguard.

It didn't have to be this way. I just wanted to protect everyone from poison. Sure some entire dishes allegedly went missing, but these things happen.

In Dave’s holy opinion gators only should be allowed to be stew. If the vp holds another opinion more vetting has to be done. 😵‍💫😂

I'm not sure how well Dave's bias against gators is going to fare for his campaign. :eek:o_O

And seeing as Winston likes having Chompy around as his makeshift couch, I'm not sure a bipartisan agreement will work out.

We knew Dave was tough but we didn't know that he promotes gator-i-cide (via consumption)!!! o_O

Alas, all it took was a conversation about gator stew to bring out the truth.

Perhaps it's best that we found out now before voting them into office. I don't think I could live with myself knowing I voted for a gator hater.

Dave didn’t know that the microphone wasn’t switched off. He claims that he has no intention of making stew out of the sweet and friendly gators.

Unfortunately, there is no "I Hear What You're Saying, But I Don't Think You're Saying What I Want To Hear" emoji, and that's the one I would give to Dave. :cautious:
