Those who told you that Heb.10:26 is referring to apostasy are correct.

As believers, we are being transformed into the image of Christ which is a life-long process. We are always in the process of overcoming the acts of the sinful nature, which is what the letters to the seven churches is about, i.e. overcoming. As the scripture states, 'if we claim that we have no sin (as believers) we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."

However, Heb.10:26 is not talking about the sins we commit out of weakness while we walk in Christ, but is speaking about those who would turn back to willfully, purposely live according to the sinful nature. Notice the word used in the beginning of the verse:

"If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth"

It is speaking in reference to abandoning ones faith and going back to willfully living according to the sinful nature and remaining in and and dying in that state. Consider the following scritpure:

"My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, consider this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover over a multitude of sins. ."

James says "My brothers" which would be addressing believers, men and woman. Notice that the person in that wandered state is accumulating a multitude of sins and is on their way to death. However, if they turn back, repenting of it, God will forgive them covering over a multitude of sins that they would have accumulated in that state.

The important thing to remember here, is that the scripture is not speaking about believers who sin as they continue in their walk in Christ. Those who do so confess them and continue on knowing that they are forgiven because the blood of Christ covers them.

"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us."

If your heart is turned to God and you are walking in Christ, then when you sin, confess it and move on, knowing that you have been forgiven. Remember Satan can can attempt to make you believe otherwise.

Anyone who says that he commits no sin as a believer in Christ is deceiving themselves. The sinful nature will always be with us until the Lord comes to gather His church, where at which time we will become immortal and glorified. In the mean time, the believer is being transformed into the image of Christ. But you can't do that if you turn back into the world, deliberately fulfilling the desires of the sinful nature and remaining there.

Good afternoon. I grew up christian, but didn't go to church, didn't live much different. September last year I started going to church.(OPC)
I went for about 2.5-3 months, and started praying, and then the Holy Spirit came into my life. For the first 2 weeks, I was just IN LOVE with God.
I stopped swearing very quickly, the hate in my heart went away, my talk otherwise cleaned up. That went away, (being IN LOVE with God, I think Satan got involved) and I got very anxious and depressed. I cut out everything bad in my life that were obvious, visible sins. Stopped watching ungodly TV, radio, etc. Looked away from any woman when driving down the road. I still struggled, but overall I was really trying, which might have fed my pride, which I prayed about.
There were times of great peace, when I truly felt like everything made sense, Christ died for my sins,etc. I confessed my sins and the guilt started going away, though I don't know if I have saving faith. I was starting to walk in grace a bit, when I realized I made a mistake, I'd confess it. I tended to focus on the worst versus in the Bible, Parable of the Sower, Hebrews 10:26, etc. I also just started reading The Pilgrims Progress, and the man in the cage stood out to me. On Thursday (last week), I was on my phone, and got this conviction that I shouldn't be. I finished the email and repented, but everything felt HORRIBLE. Like the Holy Spirit had left me. I feel hard. For a few days, I felt extremely empty, but now I feel sort of normal. I've struggled I feel very convinced that I'm hell bound. I've talked to 3 pastors and another man I trust, and they think I'll be fine. They mostly think that 10:26 applies to apostacy, but the way it reads, I don't like it. What are your thoughts?. Thank you

I don't have any helpful advice but I struggle in much the same way. this struggle is compounded by the fact I come from a background of abuse of all kinds including religious abuse by Christian parent a d suffer complex PTSD and a form of OCD around religion called Srupulosity

Hi guys, Thank you for everything. I guess what I'm really concerned about is that I blashemed the Holy Spirit. I was walking in grace alright, and then this happened. Immediately, I lost a piece of myself. When the Holy Spirit first came in I was very happy, then I got depressed because the happiness went away. I was trying to control things too much. Eventually it got better, then I was convicted, failed and now I feel really confused. I don't feel like I have a Spirit to walk by. I have stumbled in sin more than I should of, but everything feels like sin. I'm in terrible danger of becoming apostate, but it's a downward spiral. I'm also convinced that I'm prideful, so that doesn't help. I'm super hyper-focused now, so everything is sin. I'm just completely overwhelmed. Please help before I break my neck. Thank you. I don't think I ever had saving faith, so failing a conviction of sin I feel like is the litmus test.

Today salvation

No thats the spin people put on the ' sealing of the Holy Spirit UNTO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION. It doesn't say ' until we sin lots , or ' until we wander 'ect . This is forced into the text. Just like 'Nothing can separate you from the love of God " What gets forced into these verses is " ah but we can separate ourselves " ' Ah but we can jump out of his hand " , Its like the verses cannot possibly mean what they say . The doctrine of conditional salvation gets forced into every assurance verse.
I wish you people would quit this corrupt teaching of once saved always saved!

We are save by grace through faith. Faith is what makes connection to God's grace. Faith is our part. Our salvation is dependent upon continuing from faith to faith, not just a one time faith.

There is a huge difference between a believer who sins out of weakness while they are following Christ vs. turning back and willfully living according to the sinful nature.

When a person turns back, they are no longer bearing fruit, no longer being transformed into the image of Christ. Everything stops! Either the person is going to repent and turn back to Christ or they are going to remain in that state, which leads to death. I don't even have to argue this point because the word of God has plenty of scriptures to back this up.

So let me make this clear: If a person turns back to living according to the sinful nature, while in that state they are accumulating sin and are on the their way to death. You can't just make a one time confession of Christ and then live like you were before you came to Him. If that was truth, then the warnings throughout scripture would meaningless.

There are people who received Christ and have turned back to the world and are again involved in sexual immorality, drugs, drunkenness, deception, and all of the other fruits of the sinful nature. A person is sealed if they continue in the faith that they continue in faith. Consider the following scriptures and read them carefully:

Continuance in faith is required!

"We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the assurance we had at first.

Faith, faith, faith! Our salvation, the promises, our sealing are all dependent upon continuing in faith from beginning to end. If a believer goes back into the world and is once again willfully living according to the sinful nature, they have wandered away from the truth, which leads to death.

"You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I (Gentiles) could be grafted in.” That is correct: They (Israel) were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will certainly not spare you either."

In the same way that Israel was broken off because of unbelief, so also can a Gentile believer be broken off if that person does not continue in faith.

"But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? The master will return unannounced and unexpected, and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

The above is a perfect example of a believer turning back to willfully living according to the sinful nature. Being assigned a place with the hypocrites where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth is outer darkness. Does this sound like once saved, always saved?

"But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die."

You better think hard about what you believe and are teaching, because you will be held accountable for it.

Once saved, always saved is true if you continue in faith from first to last.

Yes, I am saved and that because I continue in faith, which connects me to God's grace. But, if I were to turn back to willfully living as I did before I was saved and I die in that state, I would not inherit the kingdom of God. Because while in that willful state, I would not be exercising faith.

The “we” in every place identifies a HEBREW who is writing to Hebrews.
Baloney! The word of God is to both Jew and Gentile believers. There are not to difference covenants, one for the Jew and one for the Gentile. That's just an attempt to nullify what God's word is saying. I didn't see any fine print there that says, "all Gentiles please disregard what is being said here, because it is to the Jew only! They are saved in the same way that Gentiles are saved. What is written in Hebrews, is written for all!

"For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two (Jew and Gentile) one and has torn down the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace and reconciling both of them to God in one body through the cross, by which He extinguished their hostility."

Both Jew and Gentile are all under the same plan of salvation, which is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

It could be these worse verses in the bible are only troubling because they are misunderstood as to the proper context which that was intended.

Being worried that the Holy Spirit has left you is indicative that the Holy Spirit has not left you otherwise you would not have these anxious thoughts. It was Jesus who stated that He will neither leave nor forsake you.

It seems to me that a lot of your spiritual focus on been on improving yourself spiritually based on your own personal efforts. While I find this commendable it would be better to simply focus on loving and serving the Lord with all of your heart and the rest will take care of itself.

You are not hell bound because Jesus has also stated that He has not lost a single one that the Father has entrusted into His care.

These worse verses in the bible could actually be the best verses in the bible. It's all spiritually nutritious and necessary for our spiritual growth in all aspects as stated in the writings of Paul.

All your proof texts are answered by context. Its either Israel , OT , During the tribulation or our walk not our postion . Literally every catchphrase / proof texts that Catholics, Jehovah witnesses , Mormons , and everyone else that holds to ' conditional / works / Lordship salvation, uses ,can be put into those categories.

The verses are aimed at tribulation Jews according to the quotations given from the Old Testament (Deut. 32:30–36).
These are all false apologetics that you have been presenting. Instead of attempting to distort what the word of God is saying, why don't you read it and believe it. That scripture is speaking in general for anyone who would apostatize, i.e. turn away from having faith in Christ. The scripture is certainly not talking about turning away from obeying the law, because no one will be saved by the keeping of the law.

Yes I hear many quote the verse that there's no distinction between Jews and gentiles in Christ . I agree. Yet we have a book called hebrews and another written to the 12 tribes , which is interesting.

According to you and others, we should weed out what books are to gentiles and the ones that are to Jews, which is false. All you are doing is repeating what you read or what someone has taught up. All of these excuses are familiar ones that other have tried to use.
Those twelve tribes are saved the same as the Gentile believer, through faith in Christ.

Repent of what you are teaching, because I can guarantee you that it is false. What false apologetic will you try to use on the following? By the way, in the scripture below, Jesus is speaking to His disciples and therefore to all believers, just in case you want to claim that it is aimed at the Jews only.

Wouldn't it be better to use a different word other than 'saved ' to describe your position ? It would certainly make it less confusing for me when I hear this theology .

There is only one salvation, which is through faith in the shed blood of Christ. So, I don't know why you are trying to make a division between the two. All people are saved through faith in Christ. Try pick one verse that you use to support loss of salvation and I Gurantee it will be in the category of either:
1) The OT
2) Before the cross

And that book called Hebrews, as well as those written to the twelve tribes, is also to be applied to the Gentile believer. There is only one salvation, which is through faith in the shed blood of Christ. So, I don't know why you are trying to make a division between the two. All people are saved through faith in Christ. There is no difference!

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
The verse doesn't say ' all scripture has no differences and you should mush it all together ,wrongly dividing the word of truth.
All the bible is for us . literally every word of the 66 books , but not all the bible is to us .

Yes, faith is the plug that keeps us connected to God's grace. You're only saved, unsaved, saved unsaved, if you are a person who continues to turn back and forth from willfully living according to the sinful nature and then back to Christ. The truth is that our salvation is contingent upon continuing in faith from beginning to end. The scriptures that I provided tell you this. And without faith it is impossible to please God! Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?”

Regarding saved and then not saved, have you never read the following?

In verse 27 the servant (believer) was forgiven of his debt (sin) by the king (God). But then because he went out and did not show forgiveness towards his fellow servant (a fellow believer) his master reinstated the debt. Then Jesus finishes the parable with verse 35, which is aimed at any believer who also has an unforgiving heart. This is an example of saved, unsaved.

We don't have Carte Blanche to go back into willfully living according to the sinful nature. Faith has to be maintained. Believers are supposed to be in the process of being transformed into the image of Christ, which is the fruit of the Spirit. When one turns back to willfully living according to the sinful nature, all of that stops. And if they remain there and die in that stated, it leads to separation from God and condemnation, period. We're not saved by anything that we did, but through God's grace through faith. It's a free gift. Our part is faith.

Jesus also said, "anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple." If one goes back to willfully living according to the sinful nature, they are not taking up their cross. Unfortunately, there are going to be many believers who have gone back to living according to the sinful nature and will not be watching and ready when the Lord appears to gather His church and that day (God's time of wrath) will close on them like a trap.

Try pick one verse that you use to support loss of salvation and I Gurantee it will be in the category of either:
1) The OT
2) Before the cross
3) Before the resurrection
4 ) before Acts 2
5) To Israel

You have an false apologetic for every scripture that proves proves the truth of God's word and then you say "show me another!"

These are not mistakes. I don't teach anything unless I am absolutely sure. All that you have listed above are all circumventions to get around the truth, sadly. However, you are free to believe as you will. But I'm telling you that OSAS is a false teaching.
