I am just saying that you have to think for yourself... The bible is a book held in human hands through the history and possible the hands of the devil... So sure you can follow it blindly but God is not a book. To me the bible is the path to God... the story of how God has worked in this world and of Jesus that did come to save us.

But I do not think that the bible is created from Gods hand. If it was a book created by God himself it would be a book that when read clearly be of divine origin and not been debated and fought over for so long.

I am just scared of fanaticism... To me you miss the point of christianity.
So, let me see if I understand this.

Your basic idea is that, the bible could be wrong, potentially demonic influence. Yet, we should trust ourselves? Let me ask you this. Do you think it is possible the devil wants you to think this way about what God has said, so that way you will believe the devil and not God? Do you think humans are completely perfect at knowing what is true?

You can't actually in all seriousness anwser the "I am not impressed by quotes speach" with a quote :D
I do.

With all seriousness.

1 Peter 1:25

but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was preached to you.

Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Pro 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
Beat the eggs then gradually add the sugar and a pinch of salt. Beat until the mixture is thick.
Blend in the butter, then the milk and flour.
Add the shredded coconut.
Spoon into the pastry shell.
Bake for 50 minutes or until set and slightly brown.

Come on... speak (or write) with me... or I will reply to all of your answers with pie recepies!

No... of course not... I think it is a search that every human must undertake. I think that the bible is a tool to find God. But not the only way... and not the only tool.

And your argument could as easily be turned against you: *what if the bible was written with demonic influense to stop people to find the right way to God*

Okay... now I do not think that so is the case... I am just saying that the bible is written by humans and if you just read it is just text... like any other book. To find God you have to reach out... but when you feel him... you can begin your own search...

Not that I think that this is the case... but since the Devil is quite smart... (or else he would not be a dange) he could actually change the words in a book and that quote could still remain there. You know on the package it says *real belgian choclate* (how do you spell that word... sorry that my spelling is rather messed up... ) but the choclate could have been replacede with *cheep norwegian choclate*. And if we trust the text on the package blindly we will never question if the choclate is really belgian or not...

if you see my metaphore ;)

Now I understand that it is scary... You can easily be filled with doubt then when you are not sure what is true or not...but I think that doubt is a good think since it helps you in your search and you need to seek out and talk to other christians...

I understand the attempt, there is one problem here. You are assuming your ability to differentiate truth from untruth.

You could be in the matrix ;).

EDIT:
Actually, there are two problems here. The second is that you compare something that is not the Word of God to the Word of God, and this is faulty.

Darn ;)

But here is some baking from the lord:

*Take fine flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using two-tenths of an ephah for each loaf.
Set them in two rows, six in each row, on the table of pure gold before the LORD.
Along each row put some pure incense as a memorial portion to represent the bread and to be an offering made to the LORD by fire.*

From Leviticus...

So see... like me God likes cookies :D

Leviticus 25:4-9.

If only you would refer to scripture even when it is not convenient for you to do so.

Nawww.. then I would have a cool outfit and things would be moving in Slow motion...

And I understand your idea... But Matrix was a good example...

If we are in the Matrix now the bible would seem as true to you as it does now... since it is created by computers or robots or aliens or whatever they were. So you could not differante truth from untruth even then.

And I am just saying that you could not see what was the real word of god and the false word of god in the bible.

Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

Mat 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Luk 24:38 And he said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?

Measure the flour, sugar and salt togetherl. Stir to combine.

Add the chilled butter pieces and shortening to the bowl. Cut them in with a pastry cutter or knife.

Add the ice water. Mix until the dough holds together (add a bit more water, if necessary).

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead it together, then divide in half.

Flatten each half into a disk, wrap in saran wrap and chill for at least half an hour.

Roll out one of the disks on a lightly floured surface until you have a circle that's about 12 inches in diameter.

Put the circle in a 9" pie plate, trimming any extra dough from the edges with a sharp knife (parents only).

Return it to the refrigerator until you are ready to make the pie.

Add filling (see below).

Roll out the second ball of dough and cover top.

Use a fork or your fingers to pinch the edges together.

Cut two small slits in the top.

FILLING:

Heat oven to 425 degrees.

Peel, core and slice the apples.

Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt in large bowl.

Stir in apples.

Pour into pastry-lined pie dish.

Dot with margarine.

Cover with top crust and seal the edges.

Cut two small slits in the top.

Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust.

The only way I can be assured I am not in the Matrix, is if i presuppose the truth of God and his revelation of himself through his word, the 66 books of the Holy Bible.

Otherwise, we have no logical reason to believe we are not in a Matrix type environnment, nor would we even be able to demonstrate our own existence.

And why can't you do that?

Yes but if this was the Matrix your belief in God would be as strong and you would not know about it. I mean in the world of the Matrix all religions of today exists (i take it) and everyone are as devoted as in our world.

So you would not know it was untrue or not.

All sin is bad no doubt, but this is one of the few sins that people try and defend as being ok. No one defends stealing, murder, and so forth.
I don't defend any kind of sin.
I am defending the person.

All sins are forgiven. All sin is, is a sign of unbelief and a sign that they haven't been born again.

The problem is, when a person states that a particular sin is wrong, then people assume that they hate the person who is committing the sin....which is wrong :)

Ehum... okay.. I little...

I like when people talk... Bashing quotes in ones faces is just nothing that impress me... And when I have asked mmlj29 not to do it and he just ignore me... I feel I can be childish back. But... I will try to be the better man... or rather woman.

When it comes to the Jesus quotes on doubts I don't know any religion (not that I know that many) that says - its okay... doubt me... Every religion must claim to be the absolute truth of course...

But I think that as a person you need to doubt. Otherwise... what if you grow up in a muslim country and never doubt that religion. THen you will never will find Jesus (at least as in the role as the son of god).

I have doubted many times... but every time my faith in Jesus has carried me back up... Like the warmth of the sun on a sommers day. Even with my eyes closed I can see the light... feel it. If it had been a false God I would have been told that the light was there but never really felt it. And if I then had not doubtet and searched on I would never find christ and salvation.

Hmmm that was perhaps a bit messy in my description... but do you understand what I mean?
