Not when applied to the MOST HIGH GOD. Then it is singular. The Burning Bush told Moses I AM the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, your father's. Then it says Moses was afraid to look at Elohim.

But you might not know that. If Elohim means many then the Jews should have believed in the trinity. But they don't because Elohim means ONE TRUE GOD.
ok. so somebody changed it to fool everybody.

Your grasp of history is limited to say the least. Technology has vastly improved life for most people, especially women. I remember my mother dealing with 4 very young children and no washing machine. How about the vacuum cleaner? Do know what they did before that came along? The telephone, radio, life saving medications - the list goes on.

What has not changed is human nature. War has always been part of humanity's culture. War is the prime cause of famine, premature death, injury and destruction generally.

You should look at the 19th century wars. There was no such thing as a war crime. Might was right. How about incurable diseases that killed millions? Smallpox, for example? Polio would be eradicated if not for those who reject vaccination programs. Blindness? Look up Fred Hollows. I won't go on.

Sure, for some people life has always been harder than for others. But I assure you that there never were any "good old days".

Technology is improving. Yes.
It will be advanced technology that will enslave mankind.

The Mark of the Beast comes to mind...

If that agenda does not like you?
They will starve you out of existence.
You won't be able to buy food, nor shelter.

Whole cities can be destroyed by modern technology with military technology advances.

Back when they had no washing machines and vacuums?
One would have more options in staying alive if the agenda did not like you.

Advancing technology advances the power of evil over those who would desire freedom.

Grace and truth....

Elohim was the Trinity speaking in unison.

After all? Jesus said... If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.
The Trinity can express itself as One in the singular if it wishes.
For the Trinity is One.
There is only One Trinity.

View attachment 282544The Father (Gal. 1:3), the Son (1 Tim. 3:16; Col. 2:9) and the Holy Spirit are God (Acts 5:3-4). God is one eternal Being who exists as three Persons. All three members of the Godhead are fully God, as God is one (Deut. 6:4; 1 Jn. 5:7; Mt. 28:19).

Many people assume there were only three magi who visited Jesus. Why? Many assume there are only three Divine Persons in the Godhead. Why?

That has gotten better since Pentecost for some who walk in grace.

The just shall live by faith - Hebrews 10:38
Without faith it's impossible to please God - Hebrews 11:6
We are saved by grace thru faith - Ephesians 2:8
(no faith = no grace for salvation)

Weird that there's so little talk of faith

You had it reversed.

Without grace, we can have no faith.

Grace is God's power for enabling us for what we can not do.
We are to grow in the grace and knowledge. 2 Peter 3:18
Not... grow in the knowledge and grace.

Enabling Grace must come first!

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me,
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power
may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:8-9
Faith comes by hearing the word! Romans 10:17

Our ears must be opened by grace.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”
Revelation 3:22

Grace and peace ........

How about the word Distinct? Each in the Word of GOD are seen, have action and a personality. They each have emotion, and Coe- attributes God became man not man became GOD. The eternal Christ has always been as John chapter 1 states. Who can know the mind of GOD but GOD? therefore the Holy Spirit is GOD John chapter. The Trinity is a Theological concept of the divine Nature of GOD. The word of GOD show us they are all GOD yet one. This cannot be comprehended yet we can Apprehend by the word of GOD, Creation, and a Relationship with the Father and The Son and Holy Spirit who are all GOD. The word of God provides the "Personification" of each as GOD yet are one.

I like 'distinct'. It fits in many areas.

If Jesus Christ is the exact representation of the Father (He is) then the distinction is is only in location.

"Who (the Son) being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person..."

And Jesus said: "He who has seen Me has seen the Father... Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me?"

If the Spirit of God is in me there is another force in me as well: my own flesh. I may choose to agree with my soul or agree with the Spirit of God. What I chose determines if my behavior is righteous or unrighteous.

Jesus, before His ascension, had the same choice to make: to live by the Spirit or to live by the flesh.

“Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.

Perhaps there is something about Jesus being the "express image" of God. If we understand that God formed creation in order to reveal Himself and that, eventually, all creation will be "God will be all in all", it this begins to coalesce into a plan where God simply is and that includes His children by the Spirit. '

It's like working backwards from when the Son offers everything to the Father and God becomes "All in all"... it seems like this was the reality before "the Beginning" when God began creation and we are returning to that reality through reconciliation and ultimately through His love.

Without grace, we can have no faith.

God's Word specifically says we are saved by grace THRU FAITH and that faith is the gift of God

We are not saved by faith thru grace, that is backwards which is how we know the old devil is involved in that thought process as he always inverts things from the way God does things.

Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Romans 12:3 - God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Here's the Lord's definition of grace which so many today sadly reject:

Titus 2:11,12 - For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Here's a warning from the Lord that some would pervert God's grace in to no self control

Jude 1:4 - For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

The just shall live by faith - Hebrews 10:38
Without faith it's impossible to please God - Hebrews 11:6
We are saved by grace thru faith - Ephesians 2:8
(no faith = no grace for salvation)

Weird that there's so little talk of faith

The more Word we know and understand, the more faith we have.

Having the Word understood leads to being able to understand more of the Word.
That is why we are to live from faith to faith!

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written:
The righteous will live by faith. Romans 1:17

Faith to faith can be likened on the human level....

We eat so that we will eat again.
For we eat with the strength we gained from what we ate in the past to digest what we are eating now.

The Word of God is to be eaten, digested, and assimilated into our spiritual being.

Keep in mind when reading the following passage.
That Jesus is the Word of God! (John 1:1)

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man
and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my
blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real
food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains
in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father,
so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down
from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will
live forever.” John 6:53-58

Sound doctrine = whole organic spiritual food.
False doctrine = junk food.

Take your pick.

The more Word we know and understand, the more faith we have.

Unless we aren't acting on God's Word, causing us to deceive ourselves

James 1:22
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

In a few minutes someone will come along saying this is "works based salvation" because the reformers claim the Book of James is not part of God's Word rolleyes2.gif

I can see why Jews like myself don't enjoy talking to Gentiles about our Heritage Hebrew Language.

Singular meaning: When it refers to the God of Israel, it is consistently used with a singular verb, making its function singular despite its form. An example is the phrase "In the beginning God (Elohim) created.

James is in the canon of Scripture.
Why? Because sovereign God decreed it.
God would not decree

If they could only become better balanced in how God's sovereignty works?
It would prove to be refreshing.

I'll just quickly add this point and get back to the discussion. God chose Hebrew as the first language. English didn't come into existence for another 4,500 years later. So to give the Hebrew language an English translation meaning must make God think humans are beyond help.

I was born a Jew.

My dad was one of the founders of our local synagogue.
My mother's grandfather was a rabbi... and she was in the line of the Levitical priesthood.

I was slightly Jewish.

Huh?

Abraham was a Chaldean.
He later became the first Hebrew.
Hebrew was not the first language.

That is awesome. Too bad you didn't learn the Torah like most Jews do. But that's great about your heritage.

Hebrew language is the language God specifically chose for His people so it was around before Adam.

Saved by Grace...

Grace unlocks the locked door that no man in his own strength can open.

After Grace unlocks, and opens the door?

We then walk forward through a corridor called Faith into salvation.

If not by grace?
Man will bang his nose on the door, never to know what is on the other side.

Religion will give him a nose bleed.

Hebrew language is the language God specifically chose for His people so it was around before Adam.

Adam was not a Jew.
Noah was not a Jew.
Job was not a Jew.
Abraham spoke Chaldean.

Abraham first became a Jew at age 99 when God had him circumcised.
And, Abraham did not speak Hebrew. He spoke Chaldean.

Where are you getting that belief from that Hebrew was the first language?

Hebrew was the first language that God had His Scripture to be written in.
Scripture did not exist until the days of Moses.
Prior to then, every thing was passed down via oral tradition.

.

That is awesome. Too bad you didn't learn the Torah like most Jews do. But that's great about your heritage.

I learned from the Torah while growing up.
But we did not speak Hebrew well enough to translate.
We learned Torah from Rabbis speaking English.
I performed my Haftorah in Hebrew, but did not understand what I was saying.

When I lived in Israel in 1968 I began to learn a little Hebrew.
Yet, other than that. I saw no need for knowing Hebrew at that time.
