You called men spirits when they are clearly called souls throughout scripture.

The soul of man is where his consciousness resides, his awareness. Man's spirit is what causes the soul of man to never die, to never cease to be consciously aware. This is what separates mankind from the animal kingdom is they are not spirits and are soul only. As such when an animal dies, that is the end of their consciousness and they cease to exist.

God said He made man after His own Image and scripture says God is a spirit.

It's sad that some cling to ignorance and continue to claim God lied in His Word cl;aiming we are not made in His Image when He clearly tells us we in fact are.

Men are not spirits, they are souls.

I'm a spirit, I possess a soul, and I live in a body. You can be an animal if you want, but I'll pass

1 Thessalonians 5:23 clearly tells us man is spirit, soul, and body

Feel free to continue claiming God lied when He said "let's make man in our image" Genesis 1:26-28

Proverbs 20:27

Again, it is not calling a man a spirit. It is describing the function of his spirit.

What both you and @DallasMan are doing is no different to me calling you both female because God said let us make man in our image .... male and female He created them.

Just because we have a spirit, it doesn't equate to being a spirit.

Angels are spirits, we are souls. Destroy the soul and you destroy the person. We are not spirits anymore than we are bodies.

Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Heb.1:13-14
13 But to which of the angels has He ever said:

“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

And again, no-one is arguing, we who are regenerated, are not made up of spirit, soul and body.

Again, it is not calling a man a spirit. It is describing the function of his spirit.

Then you will continue your befuddlement as to why in the New Testament we are told if any man be in Christ he is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17) and yet we are also told we need to renew our mind (Romans 12:2-3)

This is because we are a spirit which is what became a new creature in Christ Jesus and our mind is the understanding we have in our soul that needs to be renewed. Two different parts of our being.

And I have explained to you we are created in the image of God the Son who is both Deity and Soul.

Sad that you claim Jesus is not a Spirit. God is a 3 part Being

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are One.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 clearly tells us man is spirit, soul, and body.

Your posts consider 1 Thessalonians 5:23 to be a lie as well as claiming God lied in Genesis 1:26-28

Destroy the soul and you destroy the person.

The soul of man can never be destroyed because man is a spirit and it;'s the spirit within the soul that causes the should to be consciously aware and awake for all eternity either in Heaven with the Lord or being tormented in hell with the devil and his demons.

Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Sadly you fail to accept the whole counsel of God and continue consider 1 Thessalonians 5:23 to be a lie

WE are the spirit living in the soul that we possess.

And again, no-one is arguing, we who are regenerated, are not made up of spirit, soul and body.

That you for that contradiction from other things you have said on this topic

You are the one making false claims.

You are the one who is cherry picking scripture failing to accept the whole counsel of God.

Let us know when you grow up and are no longer a baby in Christ and we can revisit this someday

Sadly you can't understand the difference between how we are put together and what the word calls us.

Genesis 2:7
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul

None of us had a spirit until we were born again. It doesn't need to be renewed as it is generated directly from the hand of God. Jn.3:6

I never claimed God is not a Spirit. What do you think Deity is? (which I did point out earlier) You don't seem to read everything that is said.

My posts don't ignore 1Thess.5:23, you ignore what I have said about the verse.

I won't be revisiting anything with someone who doesn't know how to discuss and makes claims that are patently false.

Have a nice day.

The holy Trinity are 3 distinct not separate persons. The 1st person ( or what people call the father is the beginning of the whole diety. But all came into existence simultaneously.

Genesis 2:7
And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living soul.

It does not say, a living spirit anywhere in that verse.
"Ruach" is not to be found in the Hebrew.

The Lord breathed "naphach" - really means like 'mouth-to-mouth resuscitation' - into his nostrils.

Sorry. If spirit were indicated, you would be right.

John 20: 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit;
Gen 2: 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breadth of life; and man became a living soul.

God has always existed, is invisible, is alive, is all powerful, is everywhere, knows what everyone is thinking and feeling, transcends time, can create out of nothing, has a mind, a will, and a heart. How is it possible for a being to have all of these qualities? The only explanation is if our reality is in the mind of God, which makes the almighty God the Father of all realities. Jesus said that in His Father's house there are many mansions (realities). The Father is the invisible God of all realities, and He interacts in each reality through His Holy Spirit. In our reality with nothing in it and nothing happening, time does not exist. Time began in our reality when the invisible God the Father, in His mind, placed a living, thinking, feeling, and willful being in it and called him His Son (the Word). He fills His Son with His Holy Spirit (also called the Father's Glory and the Father's presence, mind, and power). The Son is the temple of the Father which means that the Father resides in the being of the Son. The Son loves the Father and shows his love through obedience to the Father's will over his own. That is why the Son sits at the right hand of the Father and is referred to as the image of the invisible God. The Father loves the Son and shows His love by empowering him to create our reality and placing all creation under his feet. That would make the Son, Lord, Father, and God of all creation in our reality, but the Father is the Lord, Father, and God of all realities which includes ours.
All kinds of animals were created out of the dust of the ground on the 6th day, including humans. Those animals were alive on the sixth day. Humans did not have communication with God and neither did God with them. When, in Gen 1: 26, God said let us make man in our image, He was talking about baptizing man with the Holy Spirit so that the Father would be able to indwell their beings in order to communicate with them, empower, and speak through them. In Gen 2: 7, God breathed into Adam's nostrils the breadth of life, he became a living soul. Other men and women were alive but they did not have the breadth of life (which is the Holy Spirit). The Holy Spirit, according to Isaiah 63: 9-10, is identified as the "angel of His presence". Angel because it can be sent, and where the Father's Holy Spirit is, the Father is. That is why Adam and Eve were able to communicate with God, and He with them. They are the first two humans to be made in the image of God because they were the first humans to receive the Holy Spirit and were made spiritually alive.

Saint Augustine of Hippo is believed to have lived from 354 AD to 430 AD.
1. Initiated in 303 AD by Emperor Diocletian, this was the last and most severe official persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire, aiming to eradicate the rapidly growing Christian faith. Edicts mandated the destruction of churches and scriptures, the arrest and torture of clergy, and eventually, universal sacrifice to Roman gods, punishable by death for refusal.
2. The Edict of Toleration by Emperor Galerius (311 AD) officially ended the Diocletian Persecution in the East and granted Christians the right to exist and assemble peacefully. While an important step, it did not restore confiscated property or grant full religious equality, only toleration.
3. The Edict of Milan in 313 AD by the Roman Emperor of the West, Constantine, and the Roman Emperor of the East, Licinius, not only reaffirmed religious toleration for Christians but also mandated the return of all confiscated Christian property, elevating Christianity's status significantly within the empire.
4. The Council of Nicaea (325 AD) called by the sole emperor of the Roman Empire and sun worshipper, Constantine, and presided over by him to settle the dispute involving the divinity of Jesus Christ. 1800 bishops were invited but only around 300 attended. Arianism is the belief in what Arius of Alexandria believed and taught, that Christ was a created being. The council condemned Arius as a heretic after he refused to sign the formula of faith which stated that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were three persons that made up one God. Constantine then exiled Arius, an act that, while manifesting a solidarity of church and state, underscored the importance of secular patronage in ecclesiastical affairs. All bishops were ordered to preach the Trinity.
5. Through the years, the West became mostly Nicaean, and the East mostly Arian. When the Spanish, and devout Nicaean Theodosius became emperor in 379 AD, he issued the Edict of Thessalonica in 380 AD. The Edict specifically targeted other Christian sects like Arianism, which held different beliefs about the nature of Christ. These were labeled as heresies with both divine and imperial retribution. The theological content follows: "... let us believe in the one deity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in equal majesty and in a holy Trinity". The edict then transforms this theological definition into a legal status: "We authorize the followers of this law to assume the title of Catholic Christians". For the first time, the state claimed the authority to determine who could legally bear this name. The consequences for those who did not conform were severe: "...but as for the others, since, in our judgement they are foolish madmen, we decree that they shall be branded with the ignominious name of heretics, and shall not presume to give to their conventicles the name of churches". The language is one of utter contempt. It strips non-Nicene Christians of their religious legitimacy, their property rights as religious bodies, and their identity, recasting them in law as insane deviants. Finally, the edict makes explicit the threat of state-sanctioned violence: "They will suffer in the first place the chastisement of the divine condemnation and in the second the punishment of our authority which in accordance with the will of Heaven we will decide to inflict". This clause is the essence of the new state-church relationship. Theological error was now a civil crime, and the power of the Roman state was officially pledged to persecute religious dissent. Arian bishops were systematically deposed and expelled, and their churches were handed over to Nicene clergy. Theodocius's imperial decree had become the official doctrine of the Church. Everyone was forced to preach the Trinity under penalty of death. The enforcement of these laws culminated in a grim precedent: in 384 AD, the Spanish ascetic Priscillian and several of his followers were tried and executed by a secular court on charges of heresy, marking the first time that Christians were put to death for their beliefs by a Christian Roman state. The era of toleration was definitely over, and the effect is felt even up to today.

Col 1: 15-17 Who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers- -all things were created by him, and for him. All things in our reality are created by the Father's mind through the Father's Holy Spirit which is in His Son. It is the Father that empowers the Son and commands. The Son is filled with the Father's Glory (Holy Spirit or presence), and together they create our reality.

I'm trying to figure out why no one has responded to this post since Jan 2, 2026. It takes courage that comes from God to deviate from doctrines that you were born into. The road to damnation has been wide for a reason. John 17: 3-4 And this is life eternal , that they might know thee (the Father), the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified Thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. Jesus is praying to the Father. He was sent by the Father to perform a work. This work will glorify the Father by spreading His name through the Holy Spirit (the Father's presence, the Father's glory) unto mankind. John 17: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. This power is given to the Son by the Father, and it involves the Son baptizing with the Father's Holy Spirit. The Son died for all mankind, which allows the Father freedom to choose from anyone to fill the spiritual body of Christ. Just as the Father is glorified in the Son because the Son is filled with the Father's Glory, the Son is glorified in us when those chosen by the Father get baptized by the Son and receive the Son's glory which the Son received when he ascended back to the Father to get glorified and receive a spiritual body. We have to remember that our time is linear, but that of the Father and Son is not. That includes the Father and Son's conversations concerning events that have not occured yet in our time line.

I hope this thread becomes a discussion about the Trinity. These are just some of my observations followed by questions.

1. The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit are God.
Question: Is this the core belief of the Trinity? Something else? Assuming it is not appropriate to call them "Gods" is there one title that actually fits the Father, the Son, and the Spirit?

2. Jesus did not consider equality with God something to be grasped (Philippians 2:6).
Question: How best can we describe the Trinity without using the word "equal"?

That's all for now. Thank you.
the idea of not being equal has to be in the context with what is known as Kenosis " the emptying of ones self.

The Father is not the Son the Son is not the Father. Yet they are both seen in the Old and New Testament as GOD who is one.

Human understanding is incapable of comprehending this Truth. The only way one can fully understand the Triune GOD as Seen in His word is to approach the Divine Nature of God and the Godhead humbly and reverently knowing we are limited and cannot fully understand all of Gods Divine Nature. The Term Trinity is a concept That is seen in the word of God that Describes The One True God of the Bible.
