Yes this is the scripture I mentioned to them but they just ignored it and said that everyone can have the gift, besides that they seem to really put tongues as the main gift of the holy ghost they keep asking me if I want to receive the holy ghost but I have already receieved it yet unless I speak in tongues they don't think I have. sadly I am unable to go to any other church for now because I need a ride to it and no church so far has been able to pick me up.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge what this truly is: a tragedy. The very next thing is, brother, you did the right thing. I realize I will ruffle feathers when I say this, but the entire charismatic movement is entirely tragic. I've heard countless stories like yours of people being peer-pressured into practices that are, at best, non-essential to the gospel, many of whom walk away from any mention of Christ altogether. And a vast majority of those still within the movement are either charlatans or sheep being led to slaughter. But you have the MOST critical thing down already, and that's taking EVERYTHING you hear back to the Scriptures. If it doesn't line up with God's Word, then there's a good chance you need to rebuke and run.

If I may, I would like to make two suggestions. First, if you have any family, even distant relatives, who attend church, see if they can put you in touch with their pastor so he can provide assistance. If you don't have that, I would love to reach out and help you in any way I can. I STRONGLY and I mean STRONGLY suggest that you no longer attend that church. They will persist until they break you down. They already think they have control over you since they are the only church providing transportation. For you, church could even mean having a couple of friends over to your room to read Scripture together, watch a sermon, and sing a couple of songs together accapella. If there were a way for me to send you a message, I would love to share some tools or have further discussions about this. I don't have a full membership, so I wouldn't be able to message you. Maybe there's another way. Let me know your thoughts, though.

I see what you're trying to say. I'm not offended in the least. I still think well of you, & it's my hope you'll see the light.
Eph 5
10Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. 11Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. 12It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. 13But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, 14for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,
“Awake, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.”

I don't believe I was called to expose Kenneth Hagin, but this is where it all begins. The Pentecostal Movement is real with gifts of the Holy Spirit. The charismatic movement is a separate movement started by the RCC, & continues to lead Pentecostals astray to this very day.
I and we who are His and walk it out, wish you would see the light as well.
best wishes

I am going back next sunday and they likely will try to get me to do it again but doesn't it seem off ? in fact is there any scripture at all to support their claims? as a matter of fact I am pretty sure there is a scripture that outright denies it isn't there?
Blain, I am sorry you had that unpleasant experience. People are known to do some extreme things in an effort to help.

First, let me say, something many don't realize is that speaking in tongues is not the gift referenced in scriptures such as Acts 2:38. The gift of the Holy Ghost is in fact the Holy Ghost.

Sadly people focus on trying to speak in tongues, rather than pursuing God’s gift of the Holy Ghost. When the Holy Ghost comes to dwell in a believer speaking in tongues will automatically occur. All detailed accounts reveal every single person spoke in unknown tongues when they were filled with the Holy Ghost. See Acts 2:1-4, 10:43-48, 19:1-7. Speaking in tongues is also implied in Acts 8:12-18. The account reveals the Samaritan people believed the gospel, and submitted to water baptism in the name of Jesus. Even so, they did not receive the Holy Ghost. How did they know the experience had not occurred? What was missing? Since tongues is the only recorded evidence of the initial infilling one can conclude that's what the people experienced a few days later when they received the Holy Ghost.

Scripture reveals tongues manifest for different purposes:
Speaking in tongues is the evidence of the initial indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Once indwelt, individuals who pray in tongues receive personal edification. (1 Cor. 14:2, 4) Paul both prayed and sang in unknown tongues. (1 Cor. 14:14-15) This indicates personal interaction between Paul and His God; he was expressing his love to the Lord from his renewed spirit.

On the other hand, not every born again believer will be given the Spiritual gift of tongues. The spiritual gift is for the purpose of presenting a message from God to a body of believers. The message is then revealed by someone operating in the spiritual gift of interpretation. The Lord has servants of His choosing operate in spiritual gifts for specific purposes.

Paul confirmed tongues manifest for different purposes. In 1 Cor. 14:18-19, he expressed thanks to God that he spoke in tongues more than others and then says something very important. YET, while in church he would rather speak words of understanding so others could be edified. This reveals again that personal communication through tongues edifies the individual. Speaking in tongues in the church setting is only beneficial if it's a message from God that is revealed to the congregation through the gift of interpretation.

Yes they were a bit extreme and honestly I don't speak in tongues I work in the gift of prophecy but they don't believe I have receieved the holy spirit because I don't speak in tongues. And while yes in many accounts of receiving the holy spirit tongues manifests it also is not the only thing that does when one receieves it I mean when Jesus received it he didn't speak in tongues

What other evidence are you referring to? I am aware of nothing other than speaking in tongues indicating the experience had taken place.

Scripture does mention the fruit of the Spirit but makes no connection to the initial infilling. Fruit is what reveals the ongoing presence of the Holy Ghost in a believer's life after they have already been born again.

There are a lot of Bible-believing people who read it much differently than the tongue-talkers.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean about seeing it differently. Would you elaborate?

I agree with some of your point here "Sadly people focus on trying to speak in tongues, rather than pursuing God’s gift of the Holy Ghost. "
Yet 1cor chapter 12 verse three call them the gifts of the Holy Spirit it doesn't say the gift of the Holy Spirit which Acts 2:38 says and Jesus said in John 14.

The Holy Spirit is a gift and the Holy Spirit also gives gifts. Which are listed in 1Corthians 12.

So I went to this church that I was invited to and as of right now it is the only one that will be able to pick me up as I cannot drive or leave the nursing home I am trapped in well the worship is good but the thing is they were very adamant on trying to get me to speak in tongues they say that everyone is able to have the gift and apparently everyone there speaks in tongues but the thing is when they put me on the spot to speak in tongues I was praying hard but nothing came out but they were telling me to keep going but and that I nbeed to want it bad enough well in the end I told them I cannot do it and I want the real thing I can't force it.

They still wanted me to and they even had their hands on me and were speaking in another language but in the end I told them I am done I just cannot do it in fact all it did was drain me.

I admit I was kind of sad and discouraged as I was hoping I could speak in tongues but the thing is firstly they were all faking it I have been in front of actual tongues before and all they were doing were faking it secondly I just couldn't muster it or have it naturally flow out of me and their laying of hands had no power to it nothing at all

Well I came home and still discouraged began thinking about it and talking to God and I came to the conclusion that what they were doing was wrong. they wanted me to speak tongues on their terms not God's if I ever do speak in tongues it will be when God leads me to not when they want me to and it will come naturally and flow like a river
Another thing is that I may not have the gift period even though they say everyone can have it but when I asked them where does the bible say that anyone can have it they didn't really have an answer they just said the bible indicates that the gift is for everyone but said they would have to find the verse to support it
I am going back next sunday and they likely will try to get me to do it again but doesn't it seem off ? in fact is there any scripture at all to support their claims? as a matter of fact I am pretty sure there is a scripture that outright denies it isn't there?
I don't recommend this, but if you went back and just babbled some crazy talk, they likely would believe you were speaking in tongues. They can't and don't differentiate. It's just a big scam.

From 1 Corinthians 12 verses 4-11 ~ There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. 6There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in various tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.

The truth of it merits a ribbon, but it is also quite funny. :D
It is a learned behaviour.

Correct. Today’s “tongue-speaking” is jibber jabber. That’s not what speaking in tongues was in the first century.

Then Jesus died for nothing? That is what you claim when you deny Holy spirit power and anointing.
:unsure::(:confused:

He lay down His life, no one took it from Him.
He taught it was better He go, for He would send Holy Spirit as a result.
To deny this gift only He could give is to deny His sacrifice.
