Why would you want to do that: Because I admit to my finite limitations to understanding spiritual truth? But you think you have a mortal lock on a passage like Prov 20:24, don't you?

And, yes, scripture does teach that regeneration precedes faith because salvation comes to us through the sanctification of the Spirit so that we can believe the truth (2Thes 2:13; 1Pet 1:2). And sanctification is a process just like giving birth to a baby is a process.

Go bow down to your idol Adam -- your mighty fine, virtuous, upstanding, blameless, altruistic superhero whose legacy is described so clearly for us in Rom 5 and 1Cor 15. Well Adam didn't have eternal life so basically you're saying Adam sinned because he didn't understand the word of God.
No, they come into this world knowing neither good nor evil. Only God is good inherently, the rest of us must learn. Some of us do, some don't. Some learn to call evil good and good evil. Some remain stubborn in their own understanding and never grow in their knowledge of the truth.
It is advisable we all remember Christ's words at least once a day.

Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, (but you assume you're not blind) you would have no sin (you wouldn't operate in the arrogance of your flesh) ; but now you say, ‘We see.’ (self righteous justification) Therefore your sin remains. (proof you are walking after the flesh)

I guess you never learned that only the living can die.
Adam did indeed possess eternal life because he dwelt with God in His temple (Garden) which God himself created. To be in God's holy presence is Life!
