Pie being kryptonite makes a lot of sense to me. I'm a Pie who makes pie!
I enjoy making homemade meringue pie myself. My favorite is coconut, but I've made all sorts of meringue pies.

Doggone it Carrie! I've already used the line about Saturday night too much. What are you trying to do, make me take out a permit for it?

Seoul dear, are we doing inward character or outward appearance?
A person's smile, I like people who smile.
Anyone who is not judgemental, who is sincere in feeling and in words.
Some one who shows genuine love.

Above all I find very cute, handsome, beautiful, .... a person who loves God and serves Him, in their own way.

Sunday is my best day because I get to see people singing, dancing, sharing their faith. whether they are doing right or wrong, doesn't matter.

Edith, I agree and will add that for me it's inward character and outward appearance. Certain smiles seem to project empathy and kindness and above all love for one another. It's as if I can see right through their smile into their soul and feel the love.

Hey Everyone!

A quick Google search says that "Kryptonite" is: "an alien mineral that has the property of depriving Superman of his powers; something that can seriously weaken or harm a particular person or thing."

In this thread, let's talk about someone's "kryptonite" as a relatively GOOD thing.

What are the qualities that will always make you notice a person, and maybe even "knock you off your feet" about them? (Whether as a potential date, or a potential friend?)

For instance, I'm always impressed by:

* Good manners -- when they open doors for people, say "please" and "thank you", treat others with kindness, etc. I'm always impressed by those who are kind to employees and fellow customers in all situations (at restaurants, theaters, stores, airports, etc.)

* Biblical knowledge without superiority -- someone who can discuss the Bible well but without trying to impress with "exclusive knowledge" or pride; is gifted in meeting others humbly where they are at.

* Willing to talk about spiritual experiences and gifts but with humility, and is willing to listen about the same in others. For example, I often seem to have a calling to those who have gone through a lot of abuse, often as children, and that can be a tough subject to engage in.

* A realistic attitude -- someone who's neither artificially exuberant nor exceedingly sullen or apathetic. Someone who feels genuine and comfortable to talk to -- which can be frustratingly rare to find.

* Compassionate but with the wisdom to set boundaries -- someone who has the knowledge experience with knowing when to help, and when to avoid enabling.

* And of course, someone who has a great sense of humor and curiosity about life! :)

How about YOU?

* What qualities in others are YOUR kryptonite -- what things do you see in other people that makes you feel almost "powerless" -- and wanting to know more about them?

* How long does it take you to notice these things -- or are they usually evident early on?

* What is it about these things that you find so attractive?

* Do you find that you have all of the same qualities you're attracted to in others, or do you like the feeling of "opposites attracting"?

Freedom of speech is a fundamental principle, yet I don’t think it would be a good idea to say out loud what would make my knees go weak.😂😊

Compassion , when I c that a person has genuine unselfish compassion for others , it's in a person's eyes and it's very rare , unless I've just been unlucky in the company I keep .
People who can just walk away when they know that someone ( or even an animal ) is in distress , leave me cold .

Pie.

My kryptonite is pie.

My favorite pie is round.

Peach, cherry, chocolate, pecan, prune, coconut... Just pie.

Why is it my kryptonite? Because diabetes runs in my family. I'm supposed to be trying to be careful about my blood sugar.

I know this thread is about something completely different, but that's my kryptonite.

To make it more in line with the theme of this thread, somebody who can bake a good pie would be my kryptonite.
Lynx is Pie a kind of cake?

Hi @Edith!

Great question!

Pies are known for having an outer shell/crust, combined with a filling. The fillings vary and could be made from things like fruit (blueberries, apple, etc.) or creams (coconut, chocolate, etc.)

And they can also be savory, filled with meat, sauce, and veggies:

One of the reasons pies are so popular is because they are so versatile, and you can put almost anything in them. :)

Lol!

One thing I have learned about guys is that food is a pretty reliable lure/bait.

I'm guessing if we disguise a big Matchmaking/Speed Dating session as a Pie-Eating Contest or Buffet, the boys will show up -- and might not catch on until it's too late!!:LOL::geek:

Especially one could have a finger in the pie.

For me it's finding someone who can still *see the magic* despite the evil times we live in. If they should love letting their inner child out to play too, we'll be friends for life.

It's funny, my mother never cooked them. I guess they weren't her thing either lol.
I've been eating them for years though, and I love them. I could eat them everyday lol.
Personally, I think Dani Spies' way is the best way that I've cooked them. I've eaten them steamed, but I think roasted is the best way. But, roasted just right!

Here's the copy/paste of the way she does it (which is very simple, yet very tasty)...

Roasted Brussels Sprouts
  • 1 lb. Brussels sprouts
  • 1 tsp. Olive oil
  • 1/2 -1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • Few turns of black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

  • Trim ends off Brussels sprouts and slice them in half lengthwise. Toss Brussels sprouts with olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  • Spread Brussels sprouts out on a rimmed baking sheet, cut side down and pop into a 400-degree oven for 30 minutes or until caramelized on the bottoms and crispy on the tops. Enjoy!
  • Makes 4 servings.

Made me laugh, i can eat raw garlic but brussel sprouts make me head for the hills
