John 15 verse 5c; Philippians 2 verse 13 ~ Apart from Me you can do nothing. For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good purpose.
read the thread especially at the end.. There were some prety strong attacks of people on both sides.
Why would someone who claims to be saved not want to give their Testimony?
I'm not questioning anyone on these forums but merely discussing what we read as evidence in the Bible is still going to be evidence for today's Christian believers.By their fruits you will know them. I consider all people on these forums saved.
But I KNOW @Everlasting-Grace is saved. I haven't seen him do squat and I don't know him personally.
But by his doctrine I KNOW.
You did not answer my questions.we are saved or not saved
there is no such thing as initial salvation. this is a catholic falacy inserted into the church
James said he can prove his Faith by his works.I am discussing salvation. James was discussing what a person should do who has no works to test their faith.. is it real
Not telling you and I to be fruit inspectors.
During this period were you still telling people that you were saved or just quiet about all of it?Oh I can answer that question. It is because I was shy combined with unlearned beyond the unelaborated Gospel.
Once again, it was a bunch of people attacking each other.Well, I was hoping to get an example of the "strong attacks" without wading through the thread,
but maybe I will do so sometime. I was just curious, because I have been attacked pretty strongly,
but I just think it is because they were having a bad hair day although I do apologize for my part of
the misunderstanding, and I try to let a disagreement drop before it becomes quarrelsome.
there is no initial salvation..thats a legalistic way of looki9nn gat thing. You did not answer my questions.
We all agree that our initial salvation is achieved independently of any works we have done up to that point.
All your citations use the past tense: He saved us. So it is talking about a past event, our initial salvation, not a present event. Do you have any verses that say anything like "He is saving us regardless of any works being done in wickedness... "?
Or anything like, "He will be saving us in the first resurrection regardless of any works of wickedness we did or are doing ... "?
James said he can prove his Faith by his works.
But if someone doesn't have works then according to James they cannot prove their works.
14 True Faith Is Proved by Works
for someone who does not believe one can lose salvation. You sure seem to preach it.
During this period were you still telling people that you were saved or just quiet about all of it?
There is no "seems" about it.for someone who does not believe one can lose salvation. You sure seem to preach it.
Yes.Well, during this teenage period I associated only with Christian friends, mainly the church youth group.
Then in college the friendships continued, mainly at the Baptist Student Union.
Then in the Navy I met new Christian friends, and associated mainly with my wife after we were married while stationed in Germany.
Then after I was discharged I associated with Christians while attending seminary.
And so things went along without any occasion for me to witness to unbelievers as I studied GW
until I participated in an Army chat forum, during which time I gained confidence via practice in explaining
my beliefs, culminating in debating the Atheists of Austin at one of their monthly meetings.
(I must have been nuts! :^)
So, you have no scriptures that say what you believe. You merely have an opinion that you insist is true because someone told you it is true.there is no initial salvation..thats a legalistic way of looki9nn gat thing.
hence there is no question to ask
once again, if I am not saved today, i was never saved.
stop listening to false teachers. They have led you astray
Tell that to all the free willers! So, you have no scriptures that say what you believe. You merely have an opinion that you insist is true because someone told you it is true.
You are free to base your beliefs on hearsay. But it's a pretty weak foundation to rely on.
a person can not fall away. they can fall from the gospel. having never recieved it, But they can not fall from salvationInterpret as you like or twist it anyway you choose but we believe Paul wrote the New Testament Book of Hebrews and these 3 verses are enlightening.
4 For as touching those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5 and tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come,
6 and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance
yes. There is no "seems" about it.
By their fruits you will KNOW them. Not saying that anyone is not saved.
False doctrine shows up even if it is crafty, subtle and sneaky.
